Life of an Adventurer

who: Link

what: Link's bumming around the city, asking for ~~sidequests~~ odd jobs to earn a bit of money while exploring the city. Feel free to bump into him.
when: A day or so after the celebrations die down. He'll be out and about all day and probably most of the night if he finds anything interesting.
where: All over the city

While it was only natural for people to want to take some time to rest up after such boisterous celebrations, Link found himself waking up bright and early like he always did, full of energy and restlessness. He took care not to wake his roommates and quietly geared up and slipped out of the commons.

His first day out was uneventful so far. There were cleaning crews out and about the first day after the celebrations had ended to get the city back to proper order. Link offered to help out if only to give him something to do and was surprised at the strange looks he was given by the workers. Was it not normal for people to offer help like that somehow?

The city slowly became more lively as the sun rose higher. Link mostly kept to himself, though he kept an active eye out for anyone who looked like they might have time to spare to chat or if they might need assistance with anything. Otherwise he strolled along, interested in seeing how everything was normally and checking out anything he found interesting.

i. Morning
Maybe your character is a morning person. Maybe not. Either way, it's certainly possible for them to run into a very curious teenaged boy who's both visibly armed and a little too interested in what they might be up to. Sorry if you haven't had your coffee yet.

ii. Afternoon
On your lunch break? Taking a stroll down the street for some ice cream to beat the heat? Maybe just running some errands? (Link can help you with that by the way.) You might have someone tagging along with you. He has only the best intentions, I promise.

iii. Evening/Night
Link's never seen a night life like this. For those going out on the town, it's very possible you might be accosted by someone who looks just a tad too young for most attractions that come alive at this time of night.

Marinette was not REALLY an early riser, especially on a weekend, but today she had wanted to get some things done. Snack deliveries, sketches, sewing supplies - well first off, she needed to GET said sewing supplies. Moving at the clip of a quick jog she exited the Communal Housing building and started trotting down the street, a covered basket over her arm and a pencil and pad in her hand. She wasn't really looking where she was going though, not expecting to run into anyone (figuratively or literally) that morning. She'll apologize if she actually smacks into you Link.

Yuffie didn't sleep much. It wasn't that she didn't need sleep but she'd usually wake to nightmares of different sorts. She didn't want to give her dreams time to take root and play out in her head. To solve this problem, Yuffie would be up late and out early in the morning. The key to sleeping so little was that she usually took a nap in the early afternoon.

Today her nap was on the roof of a random building. There was a perfect sliver of shade to protect her from the sun that would move and wake her when her nap time was over. Sunlight danced behind her eyelids and Yuffie blinked, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It had been a good nap.

She rose to her feet, the adornments of her ninja garb clicking softly together as she yawned and stretched. Yuffie peeked over the edge of the building before jumping down to the sidewalk below. It was only a four story building and Yuffie landed with relative ease. She didn't actually look where she'd been jumping but her eyes focused on an oddly familiar sight. Standing a little bit aways from her was Link.

Yuffie hummed softly, "Spiky bright hair. I wonder if he's a save the world type but be grumpy about it type." She didn't mean to say that out loud and Yuffie knew that there was likely no one else from Gaia here but it was a curious thought.

Link feels the bump and immediately takes a step back. "Sorry about that. I wasn't paying attention." He hadn't been watching where he was going either, focusing more on looking inside shops and other buildings now that throngs of people and outside stalls weren't blocking them.

"What are you doing?" It was clear she was shopping of course, but Link was curious as to what for. Who knew what you could get in a place like this.

Link had his back turned when the ninja girl had jumped down from her napping spot, but he was able to hear her land and he turned to see what that odd thump had been. He had opened his mouth to greet her when she made her comment. He tilted his head, a bit confused.

"I don't think I'm that grumpy." He glanced up at the building she must have jumped from. "Did you just jump off the roof? What were you doing up there?" He wasn't trying to judge, though with his demeanor it might come off that way. He just honestly wanted to know if there was something up on top of the buildings worth looking at.

Yuffie flashed him a bright grin. She was feeling pretty good after her nap, though a little bit hungry. "That's good. Grumpy people get super boring." She's referring to at least 75% of he men that she knows.

Her arms stretched over head as she shook away the last tendrils of a sleepy haze. "Yeah. I was taking a quick nap. No one really bothers you on a roof. It's a great place to nap." Totally normal.

"So do you cut your hair like that? Longer on the sides or is it..." She tilted her head to the side as if to look around him. "Oh, is your hair actually that long."

Link was still a little taken back to return the smile. This girl was a little odd. Not necessarily in a bad way, but so far she seemed pretty unpredictable.

He couldn't argue with her logic about the napping place. Thankfully, all of the equipment Link had on him when he first arrive had traveled with him, so he had his paraglider to make any climbing up or around buildings easier. "I didn't think of that. I'll have to keep that in mind." He didn't see anything wrong with napping on a roof. Then again, he had made camp in any convenient place he could find back in Hyrule. Why would this be any different?

"Huh?" Link reached up to touch his hair now that it was the subject of the conversation. He was a bit embarrassed to be caught off guard by this person twice in such a short amount of time. Link couldn't actually remember anything about his hair. It had been like that when he woke up in the Shrine of Resurrection and he never put any thought into it. "I uh, it's tied up in the back. Why do you ask?"

Marinette hopped back a step when she bumped into someone, glancing up quickly to hastily apologize at the same time, "NO no, it's entirely my fault. I didn't think there'd be anyone out this early not that that's an excuse -" urm. "I have some deliveries to make, and when that's done I was going to sketch some thoughts and designs."

"Would you like any help with those deliveries?" Link really wouldn't mind, and he could use some friends in such a strange place. "What kind of deliveries are they?"

He hoped he wouldn't get the same response he had gotten from the cleaning crews that he had tried to help earlier, especially since he didn't know exactly what it was that had put them off.

Marinette was absolutely down with having more friends. She missed her friends from home something fierce. "Sure, I'd really appreciate it, thanks!" She shifted her grip on the basket to push it up a little in order to free up a hand to shake. "My name is Marinette." As for what kind of deliveries, she smiled, "Just some baked goods. Cookies and brownies, mainly."

Link shook her hand and smiled. "I'm Link."

He glanced at the basket. Cookies and brownies? He wasn't sure what a 'brownie' was, but assumed it was some kind of sweet treat. A childish urge came over him to see if he could swipe one, but he stifled it. A knight of Hyrule he may be, but that didn't change that he was still a teenager. Thankfully, the training that came with knighthood came with incredible discipline to deal with such base desires. "Sounds good. Did you make them yourself?"

Link stepped back to indicate that he was going to follow wherever Marinette had to go. It wouldn't do to keep her customers waiting, would it? They could walk and talk.

She was bound to have extra, she'd be happy to give him the rest for helping her out. Starting to walk alongside him, she nodded with a small smile, "Yeah. I'm not as good as my parents are though. They run a bakery, so I learned a lot from them."

"I'm sure your parents just have the fortune of having more experience. I'm sure you'll get even better than them as long as you keep at it." Link would certainly support her in her endeavors. Anyone who cooked good food was worth supporting to him.

"So where's our first stop?" Mind always on the goal, isn't it, Link?

Odd wasn't the worst descriptor. She was a lot to take in at once and Yuffie was very aware of that fact. It was something that she often used to her advantage. Plus, it was fun to throw people off.

"It's awesome and there is always a nice breeze." Yuffie rocked back on her heels with her usual bright smile pulling across her lips. She was happy to have found someone who also understood the importance of napping. She rarely explained why she napped. It was too depressing.

"Curious." Yuffie spots the little tail in the back of his head. "Why did you not tie it all up? Is that something from where you're from? Like a tradition?" She didn't like traditions but they could sometimes be interesting.

Yuffie was succeeding brilliantly in throwing Link off. She wasn't the first oddball Link had come across, but at least she seemed friendly.

The description of the napping spot made Link want to go up and take one himself, but right now he was too curious about the city. He'd have to try it when he got back.

Why was she so curious about hair?! "I don't know." Paya styled her hair in a similar way. So did Jerrin. Actually, now that he thought about it, it did seem like a Sheikah thing. So why did he do that too? Why was he even caring?!

Time to try to change the subject. "Who are you?"

Yuffie wasn't particularly happy with Link's reply but she could tell that he really didn't know and seemed unsettled by the question. It was an odd thing to be unsettled about but she'd let it go. She's learned at least that much from hanging with Tifa so much.

"Oh! I didn't tell you? I'm the Great Ninja Yuffie!" It was currently her favorite introduction but it was likely to change in a few days. She liked to mix things up.

"And who are you?"

Ok, as strange as she was, she did have a certain charm about her, and that introduction was kinda cute.

"I'm Link." He can't help but smile a little.

"So what's a ninja, exactly?" Link was genuinely curious. So many new words for things Link had no idea about had been thrown at him since he arrived. He was sure Yuffie would love to explain this to him.

"Link, huh?" It sounded like a hero-like name to Yuffie and she began to invent a few fantastic images in her head that had to do with Link and why his name sounded like it belonged to an hero-like guy.

His question took a second for Yuffie to process. She had to get the image of Link driving a motor cycle while chasing a Behemoth from her head. "Oh? You don't know?"

Her lips tug into a bright grin. "It's only the best thing ever! Ninja's are quick and stealthy and awesome!" Yuffie pulled a shuriken from her side, this one was small unlike the larger one that remained folded up across her shoulder blades. "See." With a flick of her wrist she sent the weapon flying. It soared threw a piece of paper and then into a post.

She might have been showing off a little bit.

"Oh!" Link got it now. It was like the warriors in the Sheikah Clan. He had a set of armor from them that was perfect for anything that needed stealth. "There are people like that were I come from. They just go by a different name."

He didn't mind at all about Yuffie showing off. He was an accomplished fighter himself and would rather learn something new from others than feel intimidated because of something he wasn't very familiar with.

"I'm a knight myself," he adds. He is sporting a sword, shield, and bow on his back right now. "I wouldn't mind a training partner if you're interested."

"Neat. What are they called?" Not that the name will mean anything to her but she was nosy. Her usual grin spread over her lips when he mentioned being a knight. That did explain the sword and shield though she knew a few people who walked around with weapons like that.

Yuffie took a step closer and lightly poked at his shield. Yup, that's a shield. "That sounds pretty cool. Training? Yeah sure. I can't use a sword though." At least not very well, she did get the general idea that the pointy end goes into the other person.

"Oh crap." Yuffie paused and ran over to quickly retrieve her shuriken from the pole. For the moment she didn't have that many of these or her throwing knifes and she didn't want to lose any. At least not until she found a good place to get replacements. There was a lot that Yuffie knew how to do, making weapons was not one of those things. "I didn't want to forget this."

Akihiko wouldn't have been able to sleep if he wanted to, torn with anxiety and excitement to learn more about the city. The festivities had been fun, but it was far more interesting to learn how the town was on a normal day. So, when it was a more suitable hour, he got ready and made his way out.

He had been paused behind a clog of commuters at an intersection, poking around the new network app he'd been given, planning to wander until he found a cafe when he looked up and noticed he had an audience. Brows arching as he glanced at the copious amount of gear Link was wearing, he shifted his weight to face the other a little more. (Not that he could really judge, since he had his evoker on him in this moment.)

"Hi there-- what's the occassion?" A vague gesture to Links.. entire outfit.

Marinette grinned, "Thanks, but I'll leave improving on baking to the bakers. I enjoy cooking, but designing is where my heart lies." She wanted to be a fashion designer after all. Though she supposed applying her creativity to cooking would be nice too, as a fall back.

She could appreciate someone who always had their eyes on the goal - she was the same way. "About four houses down on this block," she said, after consulting her list, "And there are four more stops we have to make after that."

Link didn't have much interest in design, unless it was for weapons or armor he could use, but he kept an open mind. The memory of Princess Zelda asking him if he would have done something else with his life if he had the chance floated up from his mind...

"What do you design," he asked as they continued down the street.

He nodded silently at Marinette's comments on the delivery. Unless there were deliveries to be made all across the city, this certainly wouldn't take too long.

"They're the Sheikah. They mostly live in a village in the east of Hyrule." Because she'll totally know what Hyrule is, Link. If she had more questions he wouldn't mind answering them.

Link smiled. "I could teach you if you wanted, but you'd have to teach me how to use those." He pointed to the shuriken that she had tossed. Link would probably be sticking to his archery for ranged combat, but he knew learning something new wouldn't hurt.

"I guess you wouldn't know about any weapon smiths here then?" Link made a mental note to conserve and retrieve as many arrows as he could until he found someone.

Link gave the stranger a confused look. Then again, the kind of clothing this person was wearing was a lot different than what Link wore. Maybe it wasn't such an odd question after all.

"This is just what I always wear." Tunic, weapons, and all. How else was a supposed knight supposed to dress? "I could ask you the same thing."

She never had reason or opportunity to design armor or weapons, herself. Alas. Well, for obvious reasons. "Hm, clothing mainly," she answered, "But I've made posters, signs, dolls and accessories too. Like my purse," she motioned at the pink purse at her side.

"Okay, here's the first stop. Could you hold these while I knock and see if they're home?" She asked, holding up her basket. Though she could also have asked him to knock for her, come to think of it.
