Life of an Adventurer
who: Link
bluechampion and YOU
what: Link's bumming around the city, asking forsidequests odd jobs to earn a bit of money while exploring the city. Feel free to bump into him.
when: A day or so after the celebrations die down. He'll be out and about all day and probably most of the night if he finds anything interesting.
where: All over the city
warnings: None
While it was only natural for people to want to take some time to rest up after such boisterous celebrations, Link found himself waking up bright and early like he always did, full of energy and restlessness. He took care not to wake his roommates and quietly geared up and slipped out of the commons.
His first day out was uneventful so far. There were cleaning crews out and about the first day after the celebrations had ended to get the city back to proper order. Link offered to help out if only to give him something to do and was surprised at the strange looks he was given by the workers. Was it not normal for people to offer help like that somehow?
The city slowly became more lively as the sun rose higher. Link mostly kept to himself, though he kept an active eye out for anyone who looked like they might have time to spare to chat or if they might need assistance with anything. Otherwise he strolled along, interested in seeing how everything was normally and checking out anything he found interesting.
i. Morning
Maybe your character is a morning person. Maybe not. Either way, it's certainly possible for them to run into a very curious teenaged boy who's both visibly armed and a little too interested in what they might be up to. Sorry if you haven't had your coffee yet.
ii. Afternoon
On your lunch break? Taking a stroll down the street for some ice cream to beat the heat? Maybe just running some errands? (Link can help you with that by the way.) You might have someone tagging along with you. He has only the best intentions, I promise.
iii. Evening/Night
Link's never seen a night life like this. For those going out on the town, it's very possible you might be accosted by someone who looks just a tad too young for most attractions that come alive at this time of night.

He couldn't argue with her logic about the napping place. Thankfully, all of the equipment Link had on him when he first arrive had traveled with him, so he had his paraglider to make any climbing up or around buildings easier. "I didn't think of that. I'll have to keep that in mind." He didn't see anything wrong with napping on a roof. Then again, he had made camp in any convenient place he could find back in Hyrule. Why would this be any different?
"Huh?" Link reached up to touch his hair now that it was the subject of the conversation. He was a bit embarrassed to be caught off guard by this person twice in such a short amount of time. Link couldn't actually remember anything about his hair. It had been like that when he woke up in the Shrine of Resurrection and he never put any thought into it. "I uh, it's tied up in the back. Why do you ask?"
no subject
"It's awesome and there is always a nice breeze." Yuffie rocked back on her heels with her usual bright smile pulling across her lips. She was happy to have found someone who also understood the importance of napping. She rarely explained why she napped. It was too depressing.
"Curious." Yuffie spots the little tail in the back of his head. "Why did you not tie it all up? Is that something from where you're from? Like a tradition?" She didn't like traditions but they could sometimes be interesting.
no subject
The description of the napping spot made Link want to go up and take one himself, but right now he was too curious about the city. He'd have to try it when he got back.
Why was she so curious about hair?! "I don't know." Paya styled her hair in a similar way. So did Jerrin. Actually, now that he thought about it, it did seem like a Sheikah thing. So why did he do that too? Why was he even caring?!
Time to try to change the subject. "Who are you?"
no subject
"Oh! I didn't tell you? I'm the Great Ninja Yuffie!" It was currently her favorite introduction but it was likely to change in a few days. She liked to mix things up.
"And who are you?"
no subject
"I'm Link." He can't help but smile a little.
"So what's a ninja, exactly?" Link was genuinely curious. So many new words for things Link had no idea about had been thrown at him since he arrived. He was sure Yuffie would love to explain this to him.
no subject
His question took a second for Yuffie to process. She had to get the image of Link driving a motor cycle while chasing a Behemoth from her head. "Oh? You don't know?"
Her lips tug into a bright grin. "It's only the best thing ever! Ninja's are quick and stealthy and awesome!" Yuffie pulled a shuriken from her side, this one was small unlike the larger one that remained folded up across her shoulder blades. "See." With a flick of her wrist she sent the weapon flying. It soared threw a piece of paper and then into a post.
She might have been showing off a little bit.
no subject
He didn't mind at all about Yuffie showing off. He was an accomplished fighter himself and would rather learn something new from others than feel intimidated because of something he wasn't very familiar with.
"I'm a knight myself," he adds. He is sporting a sword, shield, and bow on his back right now. "I wouldn't mind a training partner if you're interested."
no subject
Yuffie took a step closer and lightly poked at his shield. Yup, that's a shield. "That sounds pretty cool. Training? Yeah sure. I can't use a sword though." At least not very well, she did get the general idea that the pointy end goes into the other person.
"Oh crap." Yuffie paused and ran over to quickly retrieve her shuriken from the pole. For the moment she didn't have that many of these or her throwing knifes and she didn't want to lose any. At least not until she found a good place to get replacements. There was a lot that Yuffie knew how to do, making weapons was not one of those things. "I didn't want to forget this."
no subject
Link smiled. "I could teach you if you wanted, but you'd have to teach me how to use those." He pointed to the shuriken that she had tossed. Link would probably be sticking to his archery for ranged combat, but he knew learning something new wouldn't hurt.
"I guess you wouldn't know about any weapon smiths here then?" Link made a mental note to conserve and retrieve as many arrows as he could until he found someone.
no subject
At least it wasn't named after something stupid.
"I can." Yuffie's lips stretched into a warm grin. "It isn't so hard and if you can use all the other stuff on you then you can probably do this too." Not as good as Yuffie but she already knew that she was the best.
At his question she shook her head. "Nope but there are a lot of shops and I figured I'd find something eventually." Yuffie knew a little about blacksmithing but not enough to do it herself.
no subject
"Great!" Link wasn't worried about mastering a new weapon. All it took was the proper instruction and plenty of practice.
Yuffie's comment made Link's smile falter a bit. He knew he needed to find some kind of weapon smith before all of his weapons broke down on him. Granted, it didn't look like they were going to get as much use here as they did in Hyrule, but all the same, Link would feel a lot better if he knew of a way to replace what he lost. "I guess I'll keep an eye out for one and let you know if I find anything." He paused and gave Yuffie a more scrutinizing look. "So what are you up to now?"
no subject
Even now, after seeing so much of Gaia, Yuffie believed that it was the most amazing place in the world. She loved her home; the way that a princess probably should. "Wutai is known for its ninja’s and training. Only the fiercest warriors ever complete it and challenge the masters." That wasn’t completely true but Yuffie really liked to exaggerate.
His fault question earned him a pause. Yuffie looked up at the building and then down the street behind her before finally turning back to Link. "I don’t know. I’d just woken up so I’ll probably grab a snack and see if the guard needs anything. Then wander around and see if I can find any material here." She rarely kept to a schedule or plan. Yuffie generally followed whatever impulse happens to take control of her limbs.
"You doing anything more fun because I’d much rather do something else."
no subject
Link raised a brow. "Guard? You mean the Perimeter Guard?" Link had been introduced to them during his orientation, but had yet to sign up. He was certainly thinking about it, but wanted the freedom to explore Riverview and get his bearings without having to report to someone.
Link shrugged. "I'm just exploring right now, trying to get an idea of the layout of this place." It was huge compared to what he was used to in Hyrule. "I arrived during that big festival, so I didn't really get a chance to get a good look at anything until now. I wouldn't mind coming with you though."
no subject
She nodded her head in a quick easy bobbing motion. "Yeah. I'm surveyor and Search & Rescue. But seriously, who would go out there and not be ready for it?" It sounded like bad planning. Yuffie was probably the worst employee ever, her only saving grace was that she got the work done, just not always at the time she was supposed to.
"That festival was cool but yeah, I get it. Loud noises and people blocking streets. That's why you travel by rooftop." She pointed up and then continued speaking without taking a breath. "Cool. What you want to eat?" She was still on a quest to find dumplings in this city.
no subject
He looked more thoughtful when Yuffie described the Perimeter Guard. "I was told when I got here that I should probably join. I've been thinking about it..." He trailed off. He didn't want to lose his freedom to explore at his own pace or get tied down to something he might regret. "Maybe I'll go check it out."
Link glanced up at the tall, shining buildings. Yes, he'd definitely be getting his paraglider out soon. He perked up at the suggestion of food. "I don't know. I'm not picky though, so whatever sounds good to you is fine by me." Especially if it was something Link had yet to try.
no subject
"You should." It wasn't that constricting of a job. Otherwise Yuffie wouldn't have been able to keep it, plus, she was able to search beyond the wall and have people come look for her if she happened to disappear. That sort of reassurance was nice and a bit unusual for Yuffie.
Yuffie grinned. "It's not fair. Just over there." She pointed behind him before walking off in the general direction of food. "It's a soup place." She was really hungry.
no subject
If someone like Yuffie was happy working for the Perimeter Guard, then Link would probably like it as well. She seemed as free-spirited as Link, if not even more so. It wouldn't hurt to check it out.
"I can do soup." Link was always ready to eat. Perhaps it was the amount of restless energy he had, or maybe life in Hyrule after the Calamity made food even more valuable than before since it could be hard to come by at times. Regardless, Link was a bit of a glutton. He eagerly followed Yuffie, his pockets full of money from helping Marinette with her deliveries earlier.
no subject
She pushed herself inside and then lead Link to the bar where they could sit and order. "I would like a number 2 with extra meat!" It was more or less ramen but with a few things that Yuffie had never seen before. She didn't really care, it looked delicious, smelled delicious and she was hungry.
"What cha getting?"
Sorry for taking so long
Yuffie had dragged him in so fast that he didn't get a good look at the shop until he sat down. It had a similar aesthetic as Kakariko Village back home. It was a small place, but it was well taken care of, and the smells coming from the kitchen made Link's mouth water.
As Link and Yuffie waited for their meal, the woman who had taken their orders gave them small glasses and left a pitcher of ice water on the counter for them to use as they wished. Link poured Yuffie's glass, then his own. "I like this place already. Are there shops like this where you're from?"
Take your time love
"I love places like this. That and the people usually know each other." More likely than not she'll end up friends with half of the staff by the end of the month. Yuffie ate a lot.
"Any place like what you're used to?" She asked, taking a gulp of cold water. Given the cities heat it felt nice.
no subject
"Kind of. There are villages that have little shops like this, but none of them serve food like this one." You had to know how to cook in Hyrule, otherwise you'd rarely if ever have a warm meal to eat.
Link took a swig from his glass. The water was crisp and it was certainly welcome with the summer heat. He looked over towards the kitchen to watch the cook pace to and fro to prepare their meals.
no subject
She was an okay cook. At least, Yuffie did enough to survive but what they did here was different. It was an art. Yuffie leaned back as the man behind the counter placed a bowl in front of her. A wide grin was pulling across her lips as the smell of the savory dish filled her nose. She already knew that it was going to be delicious.
"Let's eat!" She took the chopsticks and large spoon, placing a small bit of everything into her spoon before popping it into her mouth. It was so good that she stopped talking and focused completely on her soup and nothing else.
no subject
It wasn't too long before Link's bowl was empty. While he was satisfied, he wished he had more. It was absolutely delicious. Link would have to remember to come back here. Often.
He looked over to Yuffie for the first time since their food arrived. "That was really good. Thanks for showing me this place."
no subject
"No problem. If I find any more amazing food places I'll clue you in." She like wandering around and she never knew what sort of places she'd find. It was the fun part of exploring.
"I think it's time for another nap... or work. What time is it?" She had to get to the wall at some point. Maybe she could nap at work?
no subject
Link grinned. While a bit odd, it certainly seemed that Yuffie had her priorities in order. Food and napping were at the top of Link's list as well, though he wished he had more time for the naps. He pulls out his Sheikah Slate to check the time. "It's about 1:30. Is there somewhere you have to be?"
