Life of an Adventurer
who: Link
bluechampion and YOU
what: Link's bumming around the city, asking forsidequests odd jobs to earn a bit of money while exploring the city. Feel free to bump into him.
when: A day or so after the celebrations die down. He'll be out and about all day and probably most of the night if he finds anything interesting.
where: All over the city
warnings: None
While it was only natural for people to want to take some time to rest up after such boisterous celebrations, Link found himself waking up bright and early like he always did, full of energy and restlessness. He took care not to wake his roommates and quietly geared up and slipped out of the commons.
His first day out was uneventful so far. There were cleaning crews out and about the first day after the celebrations had ended to get the city back to proper order. Link offered to help out if only to give him something to do and was surprised at the strange looks he was given by the workers. Was it not normal for people to offer help like that somehow?
The city slowly became more lively as the sun rose higher. Link mostly kept to himself, though he kept an active eye out for anyone who looked like they might have time to spare to chat or if they might need assistance with anything. Otherwise he strolled along, interested in seeing how everything was normally and checking out anything he found interesting.
i. Morning
Maybe your character is a morning person. Maybe not. Either way, it's certainly possible for them to run into a very curious teenaged boy who's both visibly armed and a little too interested in what they might be up to. Sorry if you haven't had your coffee yet.
ii. Afternoon
On your lunch break? Taking a stroll down the street for some ice cream to beat the heat? Maybe just running some errands? (Link can help you with that by the way.) You might have someone tagging along with you. He has only the best intentions, I promise.
iii. Evening/Night
Link's never seen a night life like this. For those going out on the town, it's very possible you might be accosted by someone who looks just a tad too young for most attractions that come alive at this time of night.

He had been paused behind a clog of commuters at an intersection, poking around the new network app he'd been given, planning to wander until he found a cafe when he looked up and noticed he had an audience. Brows arching as he glanced at the copious amount of gear Link was wearing, he shifted his weight to face the other a little more. (Not that he could really judge, since he had his evoker on him in this moment.)
"Hi there-- what's the occassion?" A vague gesture to Links.. entire outfit.
English is hard sometimes.
"This is just what I always wear." Tunic, weapons, and all. How else was a supposed knight supposed to dress? "I could ask you the same thing."

"You've got me there, you're pretty prepared." Foot traffic started to move around them. "Do you by chance know where a coffee shop is around here?" Unless the guy was just that into his fashion choices, he assumed this might be a strike and that the stranger was as new as he was, but it's worth asking!
no subject
"A coffee shop?" Link glanced around, though he had no idea what coffee even was. "Sorry." He hesitated. "So, what is coffee exactly?"
no subject
"It's a drink! Or I guess, sometimes just an ingredient in drinks. You should try it!" He pauses, thinking. "If you want to help me look for a shop, I can give you a recommendation on what to try!"
no subject
Now that he knew what coffee was, he had an idea of what to look for. "I saw some kind of shop over that way," he pointed. "I didn't really take a close look but there people sitting outside drinking something." Link didn't think he had explored that much, but it seemed that the city was dotted with a bunch of small places like that.
Link started walking back from where he had come, weaving through the large group of commuters and glancing back once he found a pocket of the sidewalk that wasn't clogged with people.

"Perfect, lead the way!" It was easy enough to follow the other, only having to do an awkward side-step with a stranger once. He gave a small smile as he caught back up, glancing over the new path. Perking up with the realization he'd managed to invite someone along without having exchanged names, he held out a hand for a quick handshake as they walked.
"Hey! I forgot to say, I'm Akihiko Sanada. You can call me Akihiko." It seemed like most everyone he'd run across used English naming conventions, plus the other seemed at least about his age.

It didn't take too long to reach the shop Link had mentioned. It was indeed your typical coffee shop, the aroma of which wafted from the open doors. Various people were seated reading the newspaper, working on their laptops, some just talking with friends. They all had a cup of coffee or other confection from the shop.
"Is this what you're looking for?" Link had to admit that he liked the relaxed atmosphere of the place. The smell of the coffee was strange to him, but not in a bad way.
no subject
"Yes, this is it exactly. Thank you!" His step quickened a tad with his excitement as he led them inside, looking around the cozy establishment, the lighting warm and the aromas warmer. Peering up at the menu as he got them situated in line, he tipped his head to face Link a little better while still reading their options.
"So, in payment for leading the way, my suggestions. If you've never had coffee it's pretty bitter, so you could get a mocha or a caramel latte-- one's chocolaty and one's got caramel, obviously. Or you could just get a tea to be safe, chai lattes are good!" Akihiko's no connoisseur to be sure, used to having undecorated drip coffee in the dorms back home every morning, and some of these options are unfamiliar to him. But at least he's got some options to give to Link that he's tried!

Link did like the sounds of tea. However, he was here to try something new. He wouldn't be satisfied by playing it safe! "Hmmm." He was looking at the menu as well as Akihiko spoke to him. There were just so many choices, and most of them were completely unfamiliar to him. How were people supposed to decide? "Caramel sounds good," he muttered more to himself than anything. "What are you getting?"
no subject
"I might try their cappuccino- that's a strong coffee with a foam on top. If you want you can try a sip!" Akihiko nodded at the cashier as they made it up there, making his order before tilting his head towards Link. "I can spot yours, too!" Link ought'n't pay for something he'd not planned on and might not even like, after all.

After he and Akihiko gave their orders, he stepped to the side like the customers that came before to wait for his drink to be made. Since it was fairly crowded, it would take a minute or so. The strong fragrances of coffee made it a bit difficult to do so for Link and he fidgeted a bit. Even with this kind of wait, it was a lot easier to get food and drink this way than it was back home. "This coffee stuff seems really popular. Do a lot of people drink it where you're from?"
