who: Taako & whoever wants in on this
what: Fighting monsters in a tunnel basically counts as a dungeon crawl, right?
when: Late March
where: Those tunnels!!
warnings: Uh, violence, eldritch horrors maybe, he's got some weird spells
notes: If you wanna do something that doesn't involve fighting hmu at
batsecretary!!
[Regardless of who asks, Taako will maintain that he had a shitty cleric back home, but suddenly being without one at all is making him appreciate Merle way more than he ever did. Not having a team to rely on makes battle a lot more uncertain; there's no Magnus to take the brunt of the damage, no Merle to heal or buff them as needed, no helpful NPC to swoop in and save the day.
But a threat to the city means a threat to him, so he's signed up to help cull the creatures in the tunnels. He needs the experience, too, if he's going to level up and figure out a spell strong enough to get him home.
Really though he's just hoping that these creatures are easy enough to dispatch, and mostly he's right. Compared to some of the shit he's had to put up with, over-sized lizards aren't particularly scary, nor particularly threatening, though the amount of them is concerning. Luckily he has a lot of area of effect spells.
In the interest of not immediately running out of spell slots, he starts with low level spells and his single attack cantrip, which results in a lot of frozen creatures leaving a trail behind him, although a few of them have also been on the receiving end of a magic missile, leaving them just straight up dead.
Eventually he moves on to stronger shit: a large sphere of fire moves through the tunnels, directed by Taako, held still when he comes across any allies so that they can move around it, and he'll encourage people to stick with him, since he's used to fighting in groups. At some point, a little troupe of water elementals follow after him, attacking any of the creatures that get too close.
It starts to take it's toll, though, both the spellcasting and the attacks that the creatures manage to get in. His clothes are torn and bloody, and he leans a little more heavily on the Umbra Staff at some points, just needing to take a breather. Finally, he realizes it's worth spending two spell slots on fixing himself up, and waits until he comes across a large group of the lizards.
Sleep knocks them unconscious, and Taako kneels down in the middle of them, reaching out with a hand wreathed in shadow. When he touches the creatures, they awaken for a very brief struggle, before they just... die. Taako's wounds knit themselves back together, he sits up a little straighter, and moves on to the next one and the next one until they're all dead.
And then he gets back to work.]

Can you heal?
no subject
Ehhhh, I got something I could use, but I'm saving it 'til I really need it, ya dig?
[It's not a super fun spell.]
If you wanna play guard I'll just wrap this bad boy up.
[There's a reason he carries bandages around.]
no subject
I'll keep watch. Don't worry if a few more of them show up. I'm fast.
no subject
[With that, Taako puts his back against the nearest tunnel wall and sits down on the ground, setting his bag in front of him so he can rifle through it for supplies. Once he's found his first aid kit, he casts prestidigitation on the gash on his leg to clear away all the drying blood and dirt so he can see how bad it is.
He sucks in a breath through his teeth, sounding kinda annoyed.]
Ah, fuck. I should probably stitch this shit up, you sure you got this?
[The whole "keeping any monsters away" thing, since he doesn't really know what Clark can do.]
no subject
[ He retreats a little to place himself like a
humanKryptonian shield in the area. Clark is doubly alert for anything moving through the area.He glances at Taako's wound, quickly scanning it to make sure he doesn't need more serious medical intervention. ]
Do what you need to.
no subject
It doesn't take him long to get everything ready - his supplies are surprisingly modern for a wizard from a fantasy world, and then after another quick prestidigitation to make sure the needle and thread are clean, he gets to work.]
Hey so, what's the deal with the threads, my dude?
[There's a hint of tension in his voice as he ignores the pain from his leg, but overall he's doing fine.]
no subject
These are traditionally worn by my people.
[ He... thinks. Clark presses his palm flat on the S ]
This is the symbol of my house.
no subject
[That's genuine; it's not really something he's seen before so he didn't think to associate with traditional clothing, but he accepts the explanation without hesitation.]
Not a shy bunch, are ya?
[Look.
Look.
He's not blind.]
no subject
How are you doing with the stitches?
no subject
Nearly done!
[And he is, although it's not the best work that anyone's ever done, and he probably wouldn't trust himself to do this for anyone else. It's sufficient.]
Gonna have a sick-ass scar, you think the dudes here are into that?
[Clark is apparently the expert.]
no subject
[ He should start a dating advice show. ]
no subject
Not very helpful, huh?
[There's a little hiss of pain somewhere between when he ties the thread off and wraps a bandage around his leg, but overall Taako's pain tolerance is alarmingly high.]
Thanks for the assist, I owe ya one.
no subject
You did all the work.
[ If Taako tries to pay him back he's going to get the full brunt of that 'rustic hospitality'. ]
Can you walk?
no subject
For the record, next time someone asks you whether people are gonna be into something that kinda falls outside beauty standards, you're supposed to say yes.
[He didn't actually need the reassurance, but some people do.]
no subject
It shouldn't bother them.
[ If it does, they aren't worth Taako's time, or anyone's. ]
no subject
[He was asking to be a jerk, but there is a point in here somewhere.
(Also that's not entirely true, he's just not going to admit it).]
I'm just saying, most times someone asks a question like that, they're looking for reassurance.
no subject
[ This is the only time he gets to use this excuse. ]
no subject
So is he! If only he could remember that.]Then you just got a great social tip from good old Taako. [He grins.] I'm changing the fucking world here, one socially inept alien at a time.
[Why is he like this.]
no subject
Speaking of socially inept. ]
My name is Kal, by the way.
no subject
It's a fucking pleasure, Kal.
[One day he'll take something seriously.]
Is this like, a secret thing, by the way? The whole... [He just kind of gestures at Clark, assuming that sums up the alien thing.] Thing? Cause I'm cool to keep it, you just gotta warn me.
no subject
[ This is the first person who hasn't recognised him and offered to keep his secret pre-emptively.
Taako, you're a real friend. ]
Yes.
no subject
[It doesn't really bother him one way or another, it's not like he's going around gossiping, so if it's what Kal would prefer, then sure.
Also he's pretty good at keeping secrets, that helps.]
Is it just like, your kinda people, where you're from?
[It's been weird to him, running into so many people who are used to humans being the only race. It'd be nice to know he's not the only one who's used to all sorts of people.]
no subject
No. I live on Earth, with humans. If there's others like me, we stay hidden.
no subject
[No offense to any humans in the audience.]
Wait, why do you have to hide? If you're secretly evil or whatever I'm gonna be real pissed.
[The logical conclusion to draw, apparently.]
no subject
No, but I am very different from humans. They'd be afraid.
