Get In Losers, We're Doing Research
who: Openish - Floor Six Mingle Post
what: Ed and Chloe Initiate Phase II: Research and Explore
when: Sometime After New Arrivals Show Up (July 10th?)
where: Floor Six
warnings: Please hit up Ed's Permissions Post, as he's a CRAU and may recognize your character or talk about being in various other worlds.
The kitchen is laid out with whatever (reasonable) refreshments one can imagine available within the quarantine, snacks and beverages to accommodate varying tastes spread across the kitchen island and counter tops. Enough seating for 20 (10 from the kitchen, 10 from the entertainment area) had been arranged around Chloe's display, however she chose to set it up - since it had been put on her as the tech savvy one between them to do the presentation.
New arrivals, whether they cared for the research and exploration party or not would easily find themselves surrounded by books, notebooks and other papers with various notations - all regarding Riverview, the history of the quarantine, rumors surrounding it and comparisons to other worlds that similarly pull people through portals. These are out in the open and free to browse, should one be so inclined.
[Anyone with relation to floor six is welcome to attend - resident, friend of resident, etc. If you're unsure whether or not your character would get an invitation please contact the player you have CR with. Should your character be the type to show up uninvited, feel free to crash. Pretty much anyone Ed has CR with would be notified, and he'll be making a public post on the network before this event actually takes place IC. However if you have any questions don't hesitate to hit me up:

As the young man started to speak, Jason realized right off this guy was kind of like Tim, Tim that he still couldn't believe was alive. It shouldn't shock him anymore. He's already died, Damian was dead, and they both got better, but having Tim back, that was different. "Thanks…" He spoke, a little unsure if he would even be staying here long, part of him wanted to go hunt down an abandoned building and set up shop, but for now he would play by the rules, get to know people.
"Research huh? I might be able to help with that." He spoke offhandedly. He never liked to really volunteer, but in truth he loved to help with anything he could, and he missed having his hands on books. "If you need someone whose not frightened of dangerous, count me in. I don’t have a resume to offer, but back home I kind of take care of problems and protect people that need the help." He tried not to sound sketchy, but he figured their was no good way to say vigilante who murders criminals.

For a moment he sized him up. By now he was used to people coming in all shapes and sizes, so even though this guy was much larger than him it didn't mean he automatically knew what he was doing - but the response was reassuring. Chances are that learning Jason was a vigilante with murder on his resume wasn't going to impress Ed much, but the reality of the situation was that he'd done his own share of killing and being in Purg definitely taught you to learn to accept a wider breadth of things than you may have at home.
"I don't have much of a choice but to take your word for it, so if you say that's what you did - that's what you did. To be honest, that's ... kind of what I did back home, too." Not exactly, but Ed doesn't actually know what Jason did specifically, and his description wasn't telling enough to set them apart much.
Another smile flashed across his features, a quick grin as if making a joke at his own expense. He knew going into this that research wasn't everyone's cup of tea, so he does already imagine some people might find themselves bored enough to leave going over the details. "If you want, you can stick around to hear what we've figured out so far... no pressure."

He nodded when Ed went on speaking. He could feel the eyes, but he was used to being looked over, both as himself and as Red Hood, it came with the package of teenage crime fighter, even before puberty had been very gracious with him. He was at least thankful he wasn't being sized up in a green speedo. Somethings are best left in the past.
"They hired me on at the Perimeter Guard, so I assume that should speak enough for my qualifications." His eyes narrowed down on Ed only a second before shaking his head. "I'll have to take your word to, somehow I think it's not the same though." Finishing his handful of pretzel's he nodded once more. "Yeah, I'll stick around, I like to know what I'm getting into, and I should get to know you guys. My name's Jason, by the by." He finally decided to give his name, if he was gonna offer to help he might as well, living on the same floor and all.

Hey, if he's going to offer up that he can defend himself Ed has every reason to make sure that would actually check out. Even if a person's physique didn't reveal anything about how they are under pressure, he had a feeling this guy knew what he was doing.
"Yeah, me too. Perimeter Guard seems to be a pretty popular employment option around here. I'm specializing in Repair, but... I kind of get involved in everything." He smirked at the last part, getting to know your roommates was probably a good idea - but Ed was a pretty secretive person who kept to himself, so he didn't really like living in close quarters with a bunch of strangers.
"Edward Elric, nice to meet you."

Jason arched a brow hearing he was part of the guard, and repairs at that, but again, Tim came to mind. Never judge a book by its cover. "Well I guess were going to get to know each other pretty well." He admitted. "How much do you know about other people here?" He asked curiously.
Making a face at Edward's name, this guy was clearly nothing like Edward Nygma, and yet. "Do you prefer Edward, or Eddy?"
no subject
He noted the arched brow, but honestly he was used to it by now. People had a hard enough time believing much of anything he said. Alchemy sounded too unreal, he couldn't possibly be able to protect himself. It would be a wonder if he ever started telling people here his age - even if he had grown, no one was going to believe him, permanently stuck in that weird limbo. Adults brushed him off as just a kid, and kids lumped him in with adults, he wasn't entirely trusted by anyone.
"You in Salvage and Repair, too?" It wasn't exactly a common title, so he'd be really surprised if they shared that work. Then again, with everything he did on the Guard, he was definitely getting to know more people because of it. "Not much... Just that most of us seem to be really new, came here in the last month new." He found that rather unsettling, but he also hadn't ventured out too far in terms of inquiring about that information - so maybe he'd just missed the veterans running around.
At the face Ed scowled, more uncertain about that reaction than anything. Until the question came up, at least. The glint of anger didn't leave his expression when he spoke, responding curtly as if reading the question as mocking and very clearly not amused, "Ed's fine."
no subject
Alchemy wouldn't phase him, as much as interest him. He's seen to much in his years, and he was forever curious and willing to learn anything he could.
"Nah, just the basic guard. I'm more of a fighter than a fixer upper." He answered honestly before nodding when the answer to his question was given almost looking a touch disappointed. "I've heard there was another version of me running around. I was hoping to find out about it, that's all. It's strange as hell."
Jason then looked more confused, his assholish nature bucking up against his better side. One half wanting to make a joke, the other curious on what brought that look. "Ed it is." he replied in an even tone, his eyes trained on the smaller one. Like any guy he was trying to figure out what he did… this was not the first time nor the last time he's gotten glared out without him knowing what he's done.
no subject
"Oh..." The duplicates Ed had heard about, but there wasn't much he knew. "There's a few people like that here. They all seem to know each other though, and I definitely haven't done much digging into it." Yet. Give him time.
At the last part he glanced away slightly, seeming to regret that specific outburst, but he didn't say anything about it - no apology or clarification for his reaction. Just a slightly embarrassed look as he kept his gaze averted some. Once again quick to move on to another task, as if to take his mind off of it, moving to get another bag of chips to set up on the counter.
no subject
Moving on from the other topic seemed best. Despite his size, he shifted to lean on one of the tables, putting his weight on it with little concern, his eyes still tracking Ed.
no subject
"If I find anything new out I'll let you know."
no subject
"Thank you, I guess once the presentation is over I'll catch you later?" he half offered. Figuring it was time to move on out of the other's way while he set up.
no subject
That's all he's going to say on it for now, nodding as Jason excused himself. "Sure."
