Get In Losers, We're Doing Research

who: Openish - Floor Six Mingle Post
what: Ed and Chloe Initiate Phase II: Research and Explore
when: Sometime After New Arrivals Show Up (July 10th?)
where: Floor Six
warnings: Please hit up Ed's Permissions Post, as he's a CRAU and may recognize your character or talk about being in various other worlds.

The kitchen is laid out with whatever (reasonable) refreshments one can imagine available within the quarantine, snacks and beverages to accommodate varying tastes spread across the kitchen island and counter tops. Enough seating for 20 (10 from the kitchen, 10 from the entertainment area) had been arranged around Chloe's display, however she chose to set it up - since it had been put on her as the tech savvy one between them to do the presentation.

New arrivals, whether they cared for the research and exploration party or not would easily find themselves surrounded by books, notebooks and other papers with various notations - all regarding Riverview, the history of the quarantine, rumors surrounding it and comparisons to other worlds that similarly pull people through portals. These are out in the open and free to browse, should one be so inclined.

[Anyone with relation to floor six is welcome to attend - resident, friend of resident, etc. If you're unsure whether or not your character would get an invitation please contact the player you have CR with. Should your character be the type to show up uninvited, feel free to crash. Pretty much anyone Ed has CR with would be notified, and he'll be making a public post on the network before this event actually takes place IC. However if you have any questions don't hesitate to hit me up: [plurk.com profile] TransmutedSelf]

If someone had told her a month ago that she'd be handpicked to give a presentation on her research findings on a magical town and its magical portals that had transported a bunch of people from parallel universes, she would've laughed right in their face. Or smiled and nodded as she quietly shuffled away.

But here she was, setting up her laptop as Ed moved around to get some last minute things together. It's actually kind of impressive, the amount of work and information they'd been able to achieve just over the course of a month.

She tapped at the table thoughtfully as she waited for her computer to load, eyes drifting across the room. "Hey, Ed, could you pass me my charger right over there? And that notebook, while you're at it. I'd like to check something."

"Thanks." She's distracted enough by her task that she doesn't really glance away from her screen, instead reaching out to take said charger and notebook with both hands—

Which come directly into contact with something... different. Solid. Hard. Completely outside the realm of what one would expect a typical hand to feel like. Chloe raises a brow and glances up at him, open surprise playing across her features.

Jason Todd - OTA

Jason had not stayed long when he was first brought up and showed around. Quick to drop some thing into the trunk by his bed and head out without a word to anyone. He wasn't gone all that long though, returning after eating and getting a change of clothes, though he had walked around a bit. Luck would bring him back before things got into swing with the presentation. He found a a glass and was taking survey of the happenings on around him.

He was a hard man to miss, just a little over sixfoot and built like a tank, the suit he had bought didn't do a lot to make him look smaller, but nibbling on pretzel's with those blue eyes of his taking in everything around him like he was plotting every escape route might just make him look a little less intimidating to some. He hadn't made much of an effort to speak to anyone yet, just skirting quietly around and listening to people.

The first thing he noticed when the other approached was the shade of blonde of the young man's hair, almost like Stephanie's hair. Then was his height, neither of these things were spoke, he simply nodded when addressed to, shifting his snack to one hand to offer the other hand over to shake.

"Yes and no, I just moved up here earlier this week. I haven't had much of a chance to say hi, so, what is this about?" He didn't offer his name or ask about the others yet, years of being a nameless figure and legally dead, made him less quick to introduce himself.

Jay's blue eyes watched the gold, before he shifted his hands to go back to working on the pretzels. He loved both salty and sweet things, hell, Jay just loved food in general but he knew that eating tended to help people feel more relaxed, and that was his goal. He wasn't put off by the lack of shake, he knew not all cultures did that, hell not all worlds did either. He still expected to cross another person like Kori and get kissed in greeting. He'd never get used to that.

As the young man started to speak, Jason realized right off this guy was kind of like Tim, Tim that he still couldn't believe was alive. It shouldn't shock him anymore. He's already died, Damian was dead, and they both got better, but having Tim back, that was different. "Thanks…" He spoke, a little unsure if he would even be staying here long, part of him wanted to go hunt down an abandoned building and set up shop, but for now he would play by the rules, get to know people.

"Research huh? I might be able to help with that." He spoke offhandedly. He never liked to really volunteer, but in truth he loved to help with anything he could, and he missed having his hands on books. "If you need someone whose not frightened of dangerous, count me in. I don’t have a resume to offer, but back home I kind of take care of problems and protect people that need the help." He tried not to sound sketchy, but he figured their was no good way to say vigilante who murders criminals.

Jason's eyes tracked Ed around as he prepped the food. He normally might offer to help out, but he was not sure the other even needed help with that. "I'm good with both, the reading and running, reading is one of my hobbies." One of the better ones anyway. He wasn't about to start naming off the bad hobbies.

He nodded when Ed went on speaking. He could feel the eyes, but he was used to being looked over, both as himself and as Red Hood, it came with the package of teenage crime fighter, even before puberty had been very gracious with him. He was at least thankful he wasn't being sized up in a green speedo. Somethings are best left in the past.

"They hired me on at the Perimeter Guard, so I assume that should speak enough for my qualifications." His eyes narrowed down on Ed only a second before shaking his head. "I'll have to take your word to, somehow I think it's not the same though." Finishing his handful of pretzel's he nodded once more. "Yeah, I'll stick around, I like to know what I'm getting into, and I should get to know you guys. My name's Jason, by the by." He finally decided to give his name, if he was gonna offer to help he might as well, living on the same floor and all.

"That's good to know." Stuff to read while he doesn't sleep, between power naps, because yes, he will be found at random power napping on chairs and such. He ran different than most people, even if he still slept more than than his younger brother, he still slept as much as the average member of the family. Which wasn't enough. "I'm always interested in learning, and if it helps more people, than I am down to help however I can." He liked both books and computers, so either way worked for him.

Jason arched a brow hearing he was part of the guard, and repairs at that, but again, Tim came to mind. Never judge a book by its cover. "Well I guess were going to get to know each other pretty well." He admitted. "How much do you know about other people here?" He asked curiously.

Making a face at Edward's name, this guy was clearly nothing like Edward Nygma, and yet. "Do you prefer Edward, or Eddy?"

It was just how Jason was, if he allowed himself to get comfortable enough to shut his mind off he would drift off. There were days that just being tired to his bones would drive him to bed, but usually he had to be comfortable with people to sleep around them easily. Jason liked to help people, it was part fo what had driven him to push himself to be the best he could be before a madman with a crowbar ended that dream. Now, he was just another bad guy, just with good intentions… usually. He did the things Bats wouldn't.

Alchemy wouldn't phase him, as much as interest him. He's seen to much in his years, and he was forever curious and willing to learn anything he could.

"Nah, just the basic guard. I'm more of a fighter than a fixer upper." He answered honestly before nodding when the answer to his question was given almost looking a touch disappointed. "I've heard there was another version of me running around. I was hoping to find out about it, that's all. It's strange as hell."

Jason then looked more confused, his assholish nature bucking up against his better side. One half wanting to make a joke, the other curious on what brought that look. "Ed it is." he replied in an even tone, his eyes trained on the smaller one. Like any guy he was trying to figure out what he did… this was not the first time nor the last time he's gotten glared out without him knowing what he's done.

Garrus | OTA

[personal profile] dispenserofjustice 2017-07-05 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[While some people might be getting ready to party - something Garrus just doesn't even question at this point - he is taking a slightly different approach. He is tucked out of the way, as much as he can be, but with bits and pieces of his rifle scattered out before him. It's not meant to be an intimidation factor, but in hindsight it could be seen that way.

Garrus clearly doesn't. He just likes to keep proper maintenance of his firearms, all right? Besides, it's a bonding exercise too right? Right?]

Unfortunately, Garrus wasn't the sort that is going to stand back and let one person see to the clean up. He wasn't exactly the most sociable of people - and when he was, he certainly got awkward. Granted, he knew that Edward wanted to get to the bottom of things and find out more about the secrets this place seemed to be keeping. He'd also agree that it didn't seem like anyone really cared overly much about said answers.

Whatever the case, Garrus was just going to lend a helping hand. He lived here as well, for the time being, and it would be irresponsible otherwise. While the Turian wasn't going to touch the food, it was an easy enough task to start collecting the trash on his own.

[ it's in the kitchen where ed can find the red coat. al's left it there after stepping out to explore more of the building. draped over the edge of a chair, it smells of chalk, ozone, dust, and sunshine. it's worn, clearly been used recently, and when ed finds it, it'll be obvious that someone has been wearing it recently, as it's still warm. ]
