[ A Loki that fell to Earth is a Loki that still enjoying living. Earth gave him opportunities to step away from Thor's shadow and be his own person. True, he wasn't much of a prince or a god as he drifts among mere mortals without a blink of an eye, but it is preferable to the treatment of the Nine Realms. When he awoke, changed by the chalice, Loki was smart enough not to panic even as the doubts crept in. Instead, he devoted himself to the work. He weaved in and out of the Gramayre Institute, the Communal Housing and wanders around Riverview. His manner is polite if not a little distant. His clothes range towards more casual shirts and slacks, and his hair is much shorter.

You might also spot him sitting near the fountain, casting small illusions for the group of children nearby, of green dragons and golden heroes or at the market, eyeing their selection of jeweled daggers. ]

[ ii - can you feel the love tonight? ]

[ Loki can deflect magic and bullets with ease. His physical prowess is nothing to scoff at, despite his slighter frame. So when the repellent drifts over, Loki was certainly not prepared to fight the very air itself. By the time he realized what had happened, it was too late. He had inhaled it too sharply and felt his limbs loosen. The tension that's always hung over him like a heavy aura has all but dissipated and Loki is all twinkling smiles and calm demeanor. You might have bumped into him accidentally as he stands there and he turns, contrite. ]

[ He bites his lip, eyes narrowing partway in confusion. ]

Everything is a choice and has consequences. The pursuit of knowledge. The safety of kinship. You cannot always have both.

I think... I would like to work for both and use what I've learned to decide then.

Ah... [ He ducks his head at that, as if censured no matter Loki's actual tone. ] Yes, that is pretty greedy, isn't it?

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki shrugs. His ambition, at turns, burns at him. But it's a small burn, to be kept silent. ]

To some, yes. Most likely. It is a fine line to decide what you need and what you choose to acquire.

That sounds like something you would need to learn.

[ All of it comes back to Romulus being acutely aware how little he actually knows. Seeing all this in front of him and the gap it would take crossing for him to understand it. ]

Everything is learned. Nothing comes easily.

[ He looks around, the space where all of Loki's illusions have been so far. ]

What... What do you like to see? When you make these?

Um... You made dragons before, and horses for me... What do you make for yourself?

[ Loki stares, not sure what to make of this question. Finally, he manages to rustle up an answer. ]

Illusionists do not cast illusions for themselves. It is a dangerous road.

[aeturnus]

[ Oh. Huh. After some thought, Romulus can see that, so he considers a different question. ]

Then what do you do with it?

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki audibly sighs. ]

It can prove useful. Obviously.

[aeturnus]

[ That sigh actually makes him smile halfway. ]

Yeah... Yes, that's true. It must be. [ Or else people wouldn't spend lifetimes learning it, of course. ]

[dothelokimotion]

It is. They are little effort but the rewards come thrice-fold.

[ Loki will defend his craft. ]

What sort?

[ It's thankfully the direction Romulus wanted to go anyway, to learn more about this thing Loki does. ]

Try and use your imagination. What can they be used for?

[aeturnus]

[ Imagination, huh? Not something he's often encouraged to do but it ends up happening anyway. If Loki can make things out of nothing to be seen by anyone, well... ]

There's shows or... tricks. Hiding?

That is one use, I suppose.

[ Loki may be of different temperament, but he still holds the haughty pride of Asgard. ]

What others are there?

[ It doesn't deter him as much as it might, because Loki's been receptive and Loki is the one who told him to stand up for himself. Not in so many words but it feels... safest? to prod at the man who prodded back. ]

[dothelokimotion]

There is always use for fooling one's senses.

[ Though Loki is not surprised that Cain cannot see it. Most do not. They are like Thor in nature. Deception does not come easily. ]

[aeturnus]

To trick them.

[ Although it's true to not be in his nature, the lack of world experience doesn't help much, either. Such things can still be learned given time. ]

I am the trickster. I will not deny my nature.

[ And he has . . . come to terms with it somewhat. It has its uses, even if it'll never be admired or liked. ]

Right. I don't think you should.

[ Having any kind of purpose seems rare enough that denying it would be a waste. Wouldn't it? ]
