[ A Loki that fell to Earth is a Loki that still enjoying living. Earth gave him opportunities to step away from Thor's shadow and be his own person. True, he wasn't much of a prince or a god as he drifts among mere mortals without a blink of an eye, but it is preferable to the treatment of the Nine Realms. When he awoke, changed by the chalice, Loki was smart enough not to panic even as the doubts crept in. Instead, he devoted himself to the work. He weaved in and out of the Gramayre Institute, the Communal Housing and wanders around Riverview. His manner is polite if not a little distant. His clothes range towards more casual shirts and slacks, and his hair is much shorter.

You might also spot him sitting near the fountain, casting small illusions for the group of children nearby, of green dragons and golden heroes or at the market, eyeing their selection of jeweled daggers. ]

[ ii - can you feel the love tonight? ]

[ Loki can deflect magic and bullets with ease. His physical prowess is nothing to scoff at, despite his slighter frame. So when the repellent drifts over, Loki was certainly not prepared to fight the very air itself. By the time he realized what had happened, it was too late. He had inhaled it too sharply and felt his limbs loosen. The tension that's always hung over him like a heavy aura has all but dissipated and Loki is all twinkling smiles and calm demeanor. You might have bumped into him accidentally as he stands there and he turns, contrite. ]

[ How ironic, that the chalice has made Loki more open to others, and made Angela more closed off and alone. Without ever having met Sera, she was cut off from all ties save her familial ones, severed as those may be. But she is not nið here. And there is her not-brother, Loki, showing off some magic for a group of children.

Angela wanders closer to watch, crossing her one arm over her body. ]

[ The children watch, enraptured as the hero and the monster team up against a greater darkness. The illusion spills colour and light, close enough for their tiny fingers to reach out and grasp. Loki glances at Angela, curiosity speaking through his gaze before he briefly turns to finish the story. The children gasp and laugh, before dispersing to looking for their parents.

Loki pats the space next to him with a faint grin. ]

It seems I have not lost my touch, despite leaving Asgard.

[ Angela sits as instructed, watching as the children run off to their parents. How she would have loved the distraction of a magic show when she was their age. ]

You've never mentioned leaving Asgard before. [ Granted, there is so much she doesn't know about this version of her sometimes-brother. It's no surprise that bits of his story were left out. ]

[ Loki chuckles. There's no edge to it, though it is polite and distant. ]

I am a little changed at the moment. I cannot speak for what I once was in this place.

[ He's smart enough to pick up the threads, to know what affects him. He's not so smart to look too deeply into the going ons of the person that lingered here before. Self-awareness is not his forte. ]

But I was cast out.

As am I. [ She lifts the stump of her left arm, the most concrete evidence that she is not the same Angela who was here before. ]

Why were you cast out? [ Asked without consideration as to whether this might be a sensitive topic. ]

I led frost giants into Asgard on a whim. A trick. I did not know the trick would lead to . . . [ He trails off. ] . . . uncomfortable revelations on Asgard's part. And mine.

Odin sent me to Earth to learn. I learned enough to stay away.

Frost giants? You led frost giants against Asgard? [ She's surprised. Of course, she knows the truth of her Loki's ancestry, presumably this Loki's as well. Why he would choose to lead the people of his birth against his chosen people is beyond her. ]

Then we are both Nið.

[ Loki shrugs. ]

Merely two. Not an army and they died almost instantly. But my heritage painted me as blackheart so I was cast out.

[ He didn't want to discuss his reasoning. Loki knows it was flawed, but it was still personal. ]

Does that bother you?

[ Does it bother her? She thinks on that, frowning. ]

No. I hold no fealty to Asgard.

[ His voice is a low murmur. ]

It would be nice. To know there is a place where I belong.

[ The other Angela would have said, "find someone you belong with." But this Angela has no such person, and thus cannot give that advice. She is just as alone as this Loki seems to be. ]

Mm. Yes, perhaps it would.

[ He glances at her, surprised. Loki always assumes he is alone in his head and his issues. ]

Do you not believe you could find that?

[ Angela is silent for but a moment before she replies, ] I have never belonged anywhere. Not in Asgard, not in Heven.

I . . . believed I did.

But Asgard's lie outdid my own.

The lies of those who raised us are the most cutting and deep.

[ His expression is wry. ]

It cut me open. Thankfully, I seem to be in one piece.

[ Angela regards him thoughtfully. ]

Mm. You do seem... well.

[ Better adjusted than Angela feels lately, anyway. ]

Being away from Asgard has done me good.

[ If Loki was at Asgard while this collection of truths had hit him, he would have suffered for it. There will always be the urge to renegade, to act out but being away from his target . . . helps. ]

I can see that.

[ She frowns. ] Knowing what I know of it, and from what I have seen of its denizens, I cannot help but believe Asgard to be a wicked, torturous place.

Well. Not always. It could use some work.

[ But the bite isn't there. This Loki fosters no real hate for Asgard, only a quiet weariness for what is gone. ]

Mm. As could any place, I suppose.

[ Heven is not without its injustices, and Earth is far from perfect. ]

True. I admit I have some bias.

[ He does not hate Asgard and is willing to forgive more. ]

One always has bias towards the place one was raised.

Can we never escape it?

Perhaps. Given enough distance, time, and perspective.
