who: Victor von Doom and you
what: punching and heroing
when: mid-June
where: all over
warnings: violence
i. experiment
After his call for volunteers, Doom had spent his time looking for a place to do his little experiment without any worry of people thinking a brawl had broken out. Once he had found a place, some little clearing out in the abandoned area, he had set up a few magical precautions to keep himself safe before contacting those that had expressed interest in assisting him. One at a time, of course, since he really didn't want them all to show up and decide on a free-for-all since that would ruin the entire point of this whole experiment. Whenever people start to finally arrive, Victor himself was standing there, looking very out of place in his nice suit and seemingly unarmed. Not that he really seems to care about how he appears.
"Are you ready to get started or would you like a moment to get ready?"
ii. iron man
It didn't really matter that Tony Stark was here and not in a coma. Victor was Iron Man now and he was going to hold onto that for as long as he possibly could. Until the inevitable showdown, he was going to be patrolling around in his own Iron Man armor, both flying and walking. Every so often, he'd stop and help someone out before heading back on his way, trying to make as little of scene as possible as he could while wearing intimidating armor and a cloak. He's not doing this for recognition, after all, instead trying to not be selfish while wearing the armor. He has a legacy to uphold and he will not tarnish it, especially not now.

So while previously one of Tony's ideas of entertainment involved teasing his counterpart here, he no longer feels the need to say anything about the silly cape and colour scheme he's now sporting. He walks up to the armoured man and merely pats his shoulder before continuing past.
While the two Tony Starks were identical, they were easy to differentiate. This Tony smelt strongly of alcohol and was paler and thinner. There was also a listlessness to him that would have looked out of place to anyone familiar with the other Tony. To put it simply, he was miserable and no longer bothered to pretend otherwise.

One who hadn't stopped drinking. How unfortunate.
He moves to follow Tony, definitely curious about his lack of a reaction to his armor. That's definitely not normal Tony behavior, other universes be damned.
"Well, aren't you an odd one," he says with a hint of amusement. "I expected a bit more outrage from you at someone else with this armor."
no subject
"Should I? You didn't steal it, it's too ugly to be one of ours."
He doesn't point out that he can recognise their work and this armour is only influenced by them.
no subject
"It's been known that Tony Stark is very protective of his brand, which happens to include Iron Man. Am I wrong?"
He's ignoring the ugly comment because he's not getting into a fashion argument with him. That is a path that leads nowhere good.

"Take the name if you want. I have no use for it."

He probably planted explosives on them. Loki rules out nothing as he kicks his heels on the edge of a building.
no subject
"You've shrunk," he finally says after a long moment, tone flat as he's not quite sure how to feel about this.
no subject
"I like how people are pointing that out as if I'll be surprised. Thank you for being the second person to say so, very astute of you."
His body has de-aged but the salt in his veins went nowhere, it seems. Loki shifts where he stands, gesturing to the floating Doom before him.
"Why in Odin's name are you wearing a cloak with that suit? Don't the repulsors or whatever set it on fire?"
no subject
"It's more I need to express my surprise at you appearing so young. It's quite a shock."
Thankfully, the surprise from his appearance is changed to annoyance about the comment about his cloak. He gestures at himself for a brief moment before speaking.
"I happen to like wearing cloaks and if I hadn't figured out a way to keep them undamaged during flight after all these years, then I'd be a fool and as we're both aware, I'm not."

At the very least, Loki isn't lying. Hand on a hip, he steps backwards on the rooftop in invitation for Victor to follow and stop ... hovering.
"Which brings me to my next question, why have you swapped out one metal cage for another? You obviously don't need one anymore."
Quietly judging Victor's choices, yes.
no subject
"I'll take that to mean you don't like my armor."
His tone is light as he moves to land on the roof, one hand reaching up to remove the armor's faceplate.
"What better way to prove I've changed than to carry on the legacy of a man I respect?"
He has no plans to mention how he feels about wearing armor again.
no subject
"Why should his legacy have ended?"
The sight, again, of Victor owning a face keeps Loki grounded and on-topic, smile morphing into a frown.
no subject
"Because Tony Stark is incapacitated and the girl he was going to mentor has decided to make a name for herself as Ironheart."
no subject
Loki knows Anthony isn't at his best back home, but. Wow. He never mentioned anything to this degree of weird.
no subject
He's not saying it was another Civil War, but it was another Civil War. Welcome to the future, it kinda sucks.

Sullen, he looks Victor over and gives him a sigh.
"Whatever." Care for the Man of Iron? Laughable, not worth mentioning him a second time. "You remember that awful prison you made for me out of time and space? There's another problem going on with hints of those same flavours, you've already volunteered to assist with it. The portal is currently corrupted and I'm sucking it up when I tell you to be sure you sort it out to the best of your newfound heroic ability."
Because, Doom though he is, Victor happens to be brilliant. And Loki's best shot at reversing the spell when bereft of his own magic in full.
no subject
"You have my word that I will do everything in my power and beyond to make sure that you get back to normal." Well, as normal as Loki can be. An idea pops into his head as he's processing everything and refocuses on the diminutive god. "I could see about building something that would cause a localized effect for cancelling out what's been done to you."
no subject
He cocks his head.
"Why do you want me to be back to normal? Isn't it more convenient for you if I'm ... diminished?"
Not only in size.

if Tony wasn't so enraged, he would face palm at the whole cape thing a little more.
as it stands thought, he is gritting his teeth and stalking up to the man with fury in his eyes. right now was one of those moments that he wished he had been out and about in his suit rather than walking around like someone who was useless. still, all it takes is a press of a button on his phone, and the suit is on its way to him. it will just take a little bit of time to arrive.]
Alright, Salazar Slytherin, what the fuck do you think you are doing in that? And honest to fuck, a cape? Are you-- you know what, I don't even care. [ Tony gets right up into the suits face, clearly not caring about the danger it might pose.] This why you were being so nice to me back home? Trying to steal shit that you couldn't even copy well?
no subject
Right, angry Tony in his face. He'll deal with the cape thing later.
He crosses his arms and looks directly at Tony, not really seeming bothered by the fact that he's here and he's angry. Mostly because he expected this to happen at some point, even if he hoped it would happen later.]
I'm wearing this armor because I'm Iron Man now. [If you're nice maybe he'll explain why.] As if I needed to be nice to duplicate your armor. Your little artificial intelligence backup even said as much to me. I was helping you back home because you were someone I wished to emulate in my redemption, even if I didn't plan on donning another set of armor again.
no subject
Tony mirrors the look, not caring the Doom clearly out powers him at this point in time; he is banking on his righteous fury to see him through whatever the fuck might come next. only it doesn't, not really because what Doom is saying makes very very little sense to him.
Doom is... Iron Man? that sounds like something that came out of a terrible movie. a nightmare or something. Tony halts a little, eyes narrowing as he processes what he is being told.]
You are Iron Man now. Right, because I would so give that title to you, no matter how much help you have been in the past. [ Tony won't deny that you have been a help, Victor, but he really doesn't see you getting close enough to be called Iron Man any time soon.]
What about RiRi, wouldn't she be the next Iron Man? [ also, wait, his AI back up, that means--- well shit. Tony doesn't take a step back but his face twitches, something fading in his gaze.]
Danvers goes all out then, does she?
no subject
You didn't give it to me, I took it and the closest to a response from you was "please don't". [The AI counts as Tony, right?]
Miss Williams prefers to call herself Ironheart instead. Besides, she doesn't think of herself as being in charge of your legacy.
[He put the pieces together. Good, that made things easier since he doesn't have to explain everything. And gives him an idea about when Tony arrived from.]
It appeared that way. You didn't die, but you're not waking up any time soon.
no subject
the genius still isn't pleased about this revelation though. or the fact that Doom just admits to taking his tech.]
I feel like the please was more than you deserve to be honest. Wondering why I didn't put some kind of self destruct coding in it somewhere, maybe that is something that I should look into now.
[ it is said lightly, but Tony still has his eyes on Doom. at least Riri is fine, he liked her and didn't want her to carry on his legacy anyway. she was bright enough to carve her own. still--
Tony tamps down on his fury for a little while longer, in the name of information.]
So not dead, just a coma. Perfect that sounds great. Good to know that she at least goes all out for what she believes in.
[ there is another question on the tip of his tongue, about Miles, about Steve, but he snaps his mouth shut against them. ]
no subject
You wouldn't be saying that if you knew everything that's happened, Stark. Besides, I made this armor myself. I don't need to steal your tech when mine is superior to begin with.
[He's only willing to give so much information, not to mention he only knows so much to begin with.]
That would be what you take from this.
[This is why you heroes annoy him.]
no subject
you can have magic and being a megalomaniac, Tony has tech.]
That-- implies that somehow things get worse than me being in a coma and that really does not at all bode well. I take it you won't elaborate either, about what happens or how you managed to steal all that.
[ you stole it and Tony is going with that until proven otherwise okay.]
What else am I supposed to take from this? Would you rather I despair because I am really not into that, sorry. Not dead here, so there is that.
[ because they can see the light at the end of the tunnel? they aren't just walking pity parties in hideous capes? sorrynotsorry ]
