[ clark has found a house for his family. kara and jon have bedrooms upstairs, on the ground floor there's a kitchen, a living/dining room and lois' bedroom/study. there's a basement that will eventually feature a pool table or similar but for now is pretty empty.

supers, feel free to write your own starters for moving shenanigans, domestic things, getting used to living together, having guests over, etc. ]

[ Clark would have heard him if he had been at the other side of the city, the end of the block, or on the driveway.

He had thought Illya might want to come over and cook, instead of bringing something. It smells delicious.

Clark smiles warmly at him when he opens the door. ]

Good to see you. Please, come in.

[nikolaievich]

[He’d simple gotten the feeling if he tried to cook in Clark’s kitchen Clark would insist on helping, and Illya wanted to do this much for him. At least the first time. Not that he would mind showing Clark how to cook it at all, but this time he wanted to do something for him and his family.]

It’s good to see you, too. [He gives him a nod of acknowledgement.] Are you settling in okay?

[signifies]

[ Illya's right. ]

I am, thank you. Do you want to put that on the table or the kitchen?

[nikolaievich]

[Illya glances down at the plate he's carrying. It's Borscht (kind of, since he couldn't find the right kind of smetana and he went with sour cream), and it's warm so...] The kitchen, probably.

I wasn't sure what you may like. This is famous soup, I thought it would be good way to start.

[signifies]

[ There's some bread rising on his kitchen counter. Clark moves it aside and sets down a mat for the borscht. ]

Will you be staying to share it with us?

[ He'd better be. ]

[nikolaievich]

If you'll have me.

[He says rather easily. He actually enjoys spending time with Clark, which is always a rare thing and a plus when it comes to dealing with people. But he’s also kind of curious about his family in this place so he was hoping he may get to meet them eventually. Jon was very nice to Illya and he had a very intelligent conversation with him, so he wouldn’t mind seeing the kid again either.]

And if your family won’t mind. I’m here to visit, not impose.

[signifies]

You aren't imposing if you're invited. [ Clark leans against the kitchen counter as he pours out some drinks. ] You've already met Jonathan. He's from the future, and so is my cousin, Kara. [ In a sense. ] I was adopted, so I didn't know I had blood family left until I came here.

[nikolaievich]

You're adopted?

[That's new information that he puts away in the ever growing 'Clark' folder inside his mind. He doesn't mean to... investigate him, and he really does try to avoid making specific connections to try to give him some sense of privacy. But it's hard.]

Kara is your biological family, then?

[signifies]

Yes. [ He gives Illya a glass. ] Although we left our home at around the same time, we were separated. I got to America sooner than she did.

[nikolaievich]

[He happily takes the glass, both because he's thirsty and because he needs something to do with his hands. He always does that, when he’s nervous. If he starts tap-tap-tapping on any nearby surface Clark will know he’s close to exploding and that’s not good for anyone, but honestly he hasn’t felt on edge around Clark. Not since he first saw him and was reminded of Solo a little bit, anyway.]

I’m sorry to hear that. Family should stick together. [There’s definitely meaning put behind those words, it’s clear he isn’t just making small talk. ...He’s notoriously bad at small talk, anyway.]

How old is she?

[signifies]

[ Kara would joke it's not polite to ask a lady her age. Clark pauses to think. He doesn't want to lie, but he hasn't explained Kara was stuck somewhere she didn't age normally. ]

A little older than me. [ Thirteen years older. #kryptonians ]

[nikolaievich]

[Illya nods. Not that Kara's age changes anything, but he likes to be prepared and know what he will be up against. Clark says 'a little', so he figures she will be a couple years older than Clark, at most. Clark and Illya are the same age, so the same applies to himself.]

Is she around? [And then after a pause, he offers Clark a very hesitant smile.] Sorry if my asking is rude. I just like... knowing.

[signifies]

[ He's glad he's already prepared Illya for something weird going on. Clark doesn't know how he's going to react. Kara doesn't physically look older. ]

I figured you would. [ The pieces are starting to fit together about Illya. Clark doesn't go for the full picture. There's a reason his friend keeps his secrets. ] She's busy, she should be back soon.

[nikolaievich]

I would like to meet her, if she's alright with that. [He would like to meet most people in Clark's family, or just simply... people close to Clark. This is how he shows he cares, so he hopes Clark won't mind too much. Or will at least tell Illya where he draws the line if he goes too far.]

I have already met Jon, after all.

[signifies]

[ People might think that because Clark is warm and friendly, that he has a lot of friends. He's very new to the process, and he's never had to keep one for any length of time. People always seemed to feel like there was something different about him, whatever it was. It kept them away. ]

I'm glad. Would you like to sit?

[nikolaievich]

[Illya nods and sits. He really wasn’t sure what to expect of Clark’s house since he hadn’t met Lois yet. He does take a look around, but he tries to be… at least slightly subtle about it. He’s a spy, and a very good one at that but he prefers to work with bugs and cameras than being upfront about it.]

You've found a very nice house.

[signifies]

Thank you. Would you like a tour?

[Illya nods, then makes a motion for Clark to lead the way.]
