( open ) and I'm bleeding
who: Jim Kirk & YOU
what: slow recovery after getting stabbed by Laura
when: late September
where: the hospital
warnings: talk of stab wound and bleeding, possibly showing said stab wound on some of the threads
[ Jim wakes up groggily, maybe a little too suddenly, and for a moment isn't even aware of his surroundings. It's not his bed, definitely— that he does know immediately. It takes him a few seconds and some blinking until he adjusts to the sunlight filtering through the blinds, then the sounds from outside the room reach his ears.
Gradually his last memories come to mind. His fight with Laura (more like a one-sided attack), his injury, the blood... his fingers feeling tingly, extremities going numb, vision blurring just seconds before he passed out.
He has no memory between then and now, but it's obvious that he's been brought to the hospital and treated accordingly.
Which is a good thing, up until the point that Jim can't stand being still. That, and he hates hospitals. Not a good combination. Sitting on his bed, he finds his thoughts drifting to the last time he was hospitalized, and feels a nearly overwhelming urge to move, get out, do something. But his injury's not helping, not in its early stages of healing. He feels the skin pulling when he tries to sit up, and when he's stupid enough to actually attempt to get to his feet, the pain is nearly blinding and has him sitting down again, face twisting into a pained wince.
Doesn't mean he stops trying, obviously. Because he's smart and patient like that. Come visit him and force him back into bed, or assist him on his grand escape to the bathroom or the gardens by getting him a goddamn wheelchair. ]

Hospitals are boring. It's known. He spent his first few days on this moon in this hospital, and if he hadn't had a lot of confusion to work through, he'd have been begging for something to occupy himself. ]
If you just wanted to hear you're pretty, there are a lot of easier ways to get around to it.
[ So yeah, basically. ]

Mm, sure, but then you wouldn't be able to fully enjoy my pretty face in person. Even if cameras do love me.
[ He smirks and winks at Finn. His self-esteem cannot be destroyed, ever. ]

Sounds like you didn't get hit on the head. That's good. [ Jim is on brand, after all. Finn pulls a face. ] Between you and me, I'm a little more invested in your personality. Maybe not your sense of humor, but.
[ But he could say that about?? Most of his friends. When he thinks about it. ]

Hey, I have a great sense of humor. It's one of my best-selling features. [ He shrugs. ] But I do happen to be the complete package, so luckily you don't have to pick and choose between all my excellent traits.
[ Including his modesty, it seems. ]
