( open ) and I'm bleeding
who: Jim Kirk & YOU
what: slow recovery after getting stabbed by Laura
when: late September
where: the hospital
warnings: talk of stab wound and bleeding, possibly showing said stab wound on some of the threads
[ Jim wakes up groggily, maybe a little too suddenly, and for a moment isn't even aware of his surroundings. It's not his bed, definitely— that he does know immediately. It takes him a few seconds and some blinking until he adjusts to the sunlight filtering through the blinds, then the sounds from outside the room reach his ears.
Gradually his last memories come to mind. His fight with Laura (more like a one-sided attack), his injury, the blood... his fingers feeling tingly, extremities going numb, vision blurring just seconds before he passed out.
He has no memory between then and now, but it's obvious that he's been brought to the hospital and treated accordingly.
Which is a good thing, up until the point that Jim can't stand being still. That, and he hates hospitals. Not a good combination. Sitting on his bed, he finds his thoughts drifting to the last time he was hospitalized, and feels a nearly overwhelming urge to move, get out, do something. But his injury's not helping, not in its early stages of healing. He feels the skin pulling when he tries to sit up, and when he's stupid enough to actually attempt to get to his feet, the pain is nearly blinding and has him sitting down again, face twisting into a pained wince.
Doesn't mean he stops trying, obviously. Because he's smart and patient like that. Come visit him and force him back into bed, or assist him on his grand escape to the bathroom or the gardens by getting him a goddamn wheelchair. ]

[which is then how they find the aforementioned jim kirk, stumbling his way out of bed, face contorted with clear pain yet stubbornly on his feet anyway - and yeah, okay, cassian can relate. but it doesn't mean he won't rush forward especially when it looks like jim is about to topple, holding his arm out as a balance and using the other to stabilize jim upright.]
The only reason I am not physically moving you right this moment is because I do not know where you were apparently stabbed, and I do not want to hurt you further. [a beat.] Did you not tell me you were usually a decent patient?

183 cm tall, disgusting. ]
Unless you need to use the bathroom, please get back in bed, Jim. I have none of Cassian's reservations.
[ she will throw his ass in bed and she knows without a single doubt, that jim would do the same to her. they're family. ]

It isn't that bad.
[ Stop peeking into his file, you busybody. He shoots Cassian a silent grateful look, using him as something to hold onto while he carefully climbs back into bed.
Then he shoots Jyn a teasing grin. ] What if I needed to use the bathroom, were you gonna help me then?
no subject
[he helps jim climb back into bed anyway paying careful attention to his stomach, thanks jyn!] If you tell me it's fine because all the blood is on the inside, I will drop you.

Why'd you go and get beat up anyway? I finally cracked the voice recognition on the Intrepid and now I'm gonna have to program her to call you Captain Disaster.

He rolls his eyes, letting his head fall back onto the pillow. ] Sure, I totally did it on purpose. Just went ahead and leapt right into danger in hopes that I'd get stabbed.
[ Okay fine he did go looking for Laura, but to be fair he had been marked from the start, so she would have found him either way. ]
Also, if you do that I'm gonna have her call you Ensign Grumpy.

Finn arrives a bit late to the party, all things considered. Late enough that he already knows Jim is projected to recover. Really, this is about the first time in almost a year of living in the Quarantine that he's visited someone's room in the hospital without being so worked up he shoved people out of the way. Time truly does change things. Wow.
He opts not to knock, instead poking his head into the doorway and stepping in fully when he sees he's not here for naptime. ]
Hey.
[ It's half matter of fact, half pleased to see Jim not dead. Finn is easy to please.
He raises the small bag that he's carried in with him. ]
I brought some puzzle books. Not sure if you're a numbers person or a words person, so I went with both.

So he's a little surprised when Finn steps into the room, but he manages to muster a smile. He was about to try getting out of bed anyway, but now he's got company. Distraction. Even better.
Also good job for not just barging in and shoving people out of the way, buddy. Excellent development. ]
Both are great. Thanks. [ He tips his head at Finn. ] Missing my pretty face around the guard already, were you?

Hospitals are boring. It's known. He spent his first few days on this moon in this hospital, and if he hadn't had a lot of confusion to work through, he'd have been begging for something to occupy himself. ]
If you just wanted to hear you're pretty, there are a lot of easier ways to get around to it.
[ So yeah, basically. ]
no subject
Mm, sure, but then you wouldn't be able to fully enjoy my pretty face in person. Even if cameras do love me.
[ He smirks and winks at Finn. His self-esteem cannot be destroyed, ever. ]

Sounds like you didn't get hit on the head. That's good. [ Jim is on brand, after all. Finn pulls a face. ] Between you and me, I'm a little more invested in your personality. Maybe not your sense of humor, but.
[ But he could say that about?? Most of his friends. When he thinks about it. ]
no subject
Hey, I have a great sense of humor. It's one of my best-selling features. [ He shrugs. ] But I do happen to be the complete package, so luckily you don't have to pick and choose between all my excellent traits.
[ Including his modesty, it seems. ]
