The shuttle isn't exactly the most romantic of transportations, but Jim has tried his best to make it look and feel comfortable and cozy. There's no actual bed, but he has set up a large mattress on the floor in the cargo bay area, with plenty of pillows and blankets, and he's hung a few curtains from the walls so the room doesn't look as cold with all the metal and hard edges all over. There's a box with a few things they might need, though he hasn't forgotten to stock up on supplies for an emergency situation, as well as enough food rations to last them a few weeks if something does happen. He doesn't think it will, but still.

For now Jim's sitting in the pilot seat, fastened securely into place as they cross the atmosphere and start on the smooth path taking them up into space. It's not too high up above the moon, but they get a nice view of both it and the Capitol World a little farther in the distance, and Jim makes sure to take on a steadier speed before turning on the autopilot, letting Victor take in the view for a while.

Jim couldn't help letting out a laugh, endeared by Victor's clear excitement. "Hold on, we gotta prep for that first."

Before anything else, he drew the shuttle to a halt, letting it fall into orbit around the moon. Once he checked all the systems and was sure that it'd be safe, he got up from his seat too and pointed at one of the controls. "There. touch the command on that screen when you're ready."

He leaned forward and pressed the command. Since he wasn't holding onto anything, the moment the gravity was out he floated off the shuttle floor. On instinct he grabbed the pilot chair. He knew it would happen and yet his brain was still surprised by his body floating in the air.

When he was ready, he released the chair and slowly piloted himself around, doing casual turns in the air and catching James when the other was close. He grinned, wrapping his arms around James's neck.

Jim was a little readier for it, but still he was caught a bit by surprise when his feet suddenly left the floor, then he started floating up in the air. He let out a soft laugh, letting himself float aimlessly while Victor moved around the shuttle, then he wrapped his arms around his doctor's waist when he moved closer and held onto him.

"And I'm floating in the most peculiar way," he hummed the lyrics to the song, brushing his fingers through Victor's hair. His own was moving up in the air, swimming around as though he was underwater.

Victor smiled; he loved hearing James sing. He didn't catch the other at it often, but it was a joy whenever it happened. "And the stars look very different today," he sang back. Victor played with James's unruly hair as they floated together.

"Though I would never insult your shuttle by calling it a tin can," Victor added.

Jim closed his eyes, smiling warmly as he heard Victor sing. He had a really lovely voice too, and not for the first time he thought that he'd like to hear it more often.

"Well, if Bowie can call it a tin can, so can you," he said with a chuckle, stealing a kiss from Victor's lips.

Victor let out a little snort of his own, keeping close so he could return the kiss. He eventually let go so he could float on his own again. Touching the ceiling with his fingertips, flipping so he was upside-down, and a few other things one could never do when bound by gravity.

Though as much as he would like to keep doing this, his medical practicality kicked in. He steered his way back to the controls. "Ready to get back on your feet?" he asked.

Jim had done his fair share of playing around in zero gravity, so he understood the sentiment all too well. Still, he smiled endearingly as Victor moved around the shuttle, and once he moved closer to the console, Jim righted himself too.

"Yeah," he nodded, grabbing the back of his chair and putting his feet as close to the ground as he could manage. He was still going to wobble a little, but at least he wouldn't fall over and hit his head on some sharp corner. "I'm ready."

He made sure his own body was ready before he hit the button. Even then, he staggered a little once weight returned to his body. His limbs felt shaky as they adjusted to carrying him again.

"Not sure how often I'd want to do that," he admitted with a shaky smile, "but it was fun." Victor realized he was still gripping onto the chair and forced his fingers to relax. "Yeah, that's definitely an 'in small doses' activity."

Jim stumbled slightly when he landed back down on his feet too, wobbling forward and closer to Victor. A laugh bubbled up his throat and he grinned, reaching out to catch Victor's hand as though that'd help them both regain their balance.

"Yeah— very small doses," he agreed. "Though I've been in a few zero gravity situations before, and they were definitely not fun. As long as it's like this, I don't mind."

Victor was not that much help. His body was a good shield to keep James from stumbling into the chair or the equipment, but that was about it. He chuckled, lifting his beloved's hand and kissing the fingers.

"I'd hope so." He held onto the other man until he felt like he was oriented again, and even then he kept their hands clasped. "Still, it's amazing just floating around like that. Kind of like flying. And you're my happy thought."

A little cheesy, he knew, but he also knew James would love that.

Seen as they weren't headed anywhere else, Jim wasn't in any particular rush to step away from Victor again. Instead he rested his head on his shoulder for a bit, chuckling at Victor's reference.

"Sadly I don't have any pixie dust on me," he shrugged. "But if zero gravity does the trick for you, then I think we can do without."

"For the best," Victor assured him. "Pixie dust is strong stuff, from what I understand. And I'm honestly not too keen on having any sort of magic thrown at me. I've had more than my share. Science, on the other hand, can still throw me around a few more times."

"So, it's not all kinds of powders you're into," he teased, remembering the little flasks and jars they had at home with Victor's own homemade aphrodisiacs. Most of them they hadn't even tried properly yet, but they were recreations of the powders used at the adult lounges and parties, so. "Mm, I'll have to keep that in mind then. Do feel free to throw me around a little more, too."

How could Victor not recreate those drugs when he and James had enjoyed their effects so much? Anyway, that sort of science was a good outlet for him, and the outcome was pleasurable.

"Throwing you assumes I can pick you up," Victor commented. "I know I've been working out, but I don't think I can manage that just yet."

"Taking it a little too literally," he shot back, poking Victor's side. "Besides, you can still rough me up a little. I'd say that still counts."

"Is that you giving me permission to rough you up?" Victor asked with a smile, poking James right back.

He wiggled slightly at the poke, trying to catch Victor's hand, though with little dedication and effort put into it. "You know you don't need permission for that." Or rather, he knew that he had it already.

He did know; he was just being playful. "Maybe later," Victor decided out loud. "I want to see what you brought along for our trip."

Jim smiled, catching Victor's hand and tugging him along to the back of the shuttle. The mattress had been fastened into place, but the covers and some of the pillows had floated away and landed in the middle of the floor. "Whoops," Jim said as he rushed to catch them and put them back into place, fixing up the curtains hanging from the walls along the way.

"I brought some clothes, obviously," he gestured to their bag. "And some food, but most of it is rations. Easier for a trip like this."

Now that he wasn't enthralled by the stars, he could appreciate the work James put into making the little shuttle a romantic getaway. Victor smiled as he ran his fingers over the curtains. He wouldn't have minded the ship just as it was, but it was touching how James tried to make it look a bit more cozy.

Curious about what clothes James brought along, Victor started going through the bag. He wasn't too surprised to find the underwear he bought to flatter his ass and crotch.

"This is why I love you," Victor declared, holding up the underwear. "You're not subtle."

Jim glanced at Victor only to find him holding one of his underwear items. He laughed, making his way over and snatching it from Victor's hands. "If I wanted to be really unsubtle, I wouldn't have brought any underwear to begin with."

He nodded to the box next to their bed, eyebrow raising and lips curling in a smirk. "And you haven't even seen what I have in there yet."

"And where's the fun in that?" Victor retorted. His eyes followed the line until they landed on the box. James should know better than to tease his curiosity without the follow-through. "Well, now I'll have to."

He smirked, tugging at Victor's jacket and stealing a quick peck. "Wait until later tonight. I'll show you then," he said. He fully meant to follow through, of course. He just wanted to tease Victor and see how long he could rein in his impatience. "Should I get us dinner ready for now?"

"Tease," Victor huffed, but didn't press for more information. He'd learn about it sooner or later. "Yeah. I'd love to see how you're going to make rations romantic." His eyes sparked to assure James he was joking.

Jim laughed, swatting a hand at Victor while he made his way to where he'd packed the food. “I work miracles. You’ll see.”

First advantage was that Jim didn’t actually have to cook anything. Secondly, he did bring some actual food just so the rations wouldn’t be so bland. He set out to preparing two plates for them, adding some bread and slices of cheese to each dose of ration, then setting them aside he went to set up a low table with a towel and a couple of big cushions so they could sit on the floor, next to each other. There was also a small candle (electric, because he’s not crazy) at the center of the table, serving as mood lighting.
