The shuttle isn't exactly the most romantic of transportations, but Jim has tried his best to make it look and feel comfortable and cozy. There's no actual bed, but he has set up a large mattress on the floor in the cargo bay area, with plenty of pillows and blankets, and he's hung a few curtains from the walls so the room doesn't look as cold with all the metal and hard edges all over. There's a box with a few things they might need, though he hasn't forgotten to stock up on supplies for an emergency situation, as well as enough food rations to last them a few weeks if something does happen. He doesn't think it will, but still.

For now Jim's sitting in the pilot seat, fastened securely into place as they cross the atmosphere and start on the smooth path taking them up into space. It's not too high up above the moon, but they get a nice view of both it and the Capitol World a little farther in the distance, and Jim makes sure to take on a steadier speed before turning on the autopilot, letting Victor take in the view for a while.

“That’s alright,” Jim shrugged lightly, smiling fondly. “You did recreate your lab just for me. That was... very special, and romantic. I don’t think anyone else would have done that for me, especially when we’d only been dating for a few days.”

He would never forget that, as he would never forget all the other wonderful things Victor had done for him, both big and small. “And who knows, maybe this place will offer some way for you to show me both your worlds, someday.”

Victor hummed in thought, smiling as he thought of that night. He shifted so he could rest his head on James's shoulder. "I'll think of something," he agreed.

"Where would you want to go?" he wondered after a few moments of comfortable silence. "In the grey world and Storybrooke, what would you like to see?" He'd spoken enough about both that James would have a good idea of what they were like.

"Mm, lots of places," he hummed thoughtfully, thinking back to all the places Victor had told him about. "Your garage, for one. The library in Storybrooke too, and Gold's shop. In the grey world, I'd still want to see your actual lab. Oh, did you have a library there, too? Because if so, I'd also want to see it."

“You’re such a nerd,” Victor teased him. He gave James’s hair a loving tug.”Lucky for me you have a thing for literature.” He pressed a kiss on James’s cheek for good measure.

Jim laughed, swatting at Victor's side playfully in response to the tug. "Hey, you knew that going into this relationship," he said pointedly. "And like you're not a nerd, too. Just— different kind of nerd."

"I knew it the moment I read your friendr profile," Victor assured him, taking James's hand and kissing the fingers. His eyes sparked at the other man. "We're having a romantic getaway in a shuttle floating through space. I have no complaints about either of us being giant nerds."

His lips curled into a wider smile, glad that Victor was as excited about this trip as he was. "Good, then," he said, wrapping his arms around Victor's neck and kissing him properly. "Any complaints presented further down the line will not be accepted."

He nibbled on the other man's mouth affectionately, pulling James closer. "Can I complain about you wearing clothes?" he asked.

"Already?" he laughed, licking at Victor's lips in response to the nibbling while he scooted closer carefully. The food was gone by now, but he would rather not spill the wine still in their glasses. "I feel like that complaint comes up a lot."

"Well, if you don't mind me keeping mine on, I guess I can tolerate yours," Victor murmured, eyes sinking half-closed. "But we still have to play among the stars somehow."

"Oh no, please. Anything for my boo," he teased, kissing across Victor's cheek, humming softly as he scraped his teeth along the shell of his ear. "Don't worry... we're gonna play all sorts of games."

He chuckled, shivering slightly as his head tilted to follow the path of those teeth. “Mkay,” he breathed. Victor’s fingers tightened, encouraging.

Happy with the response he got, Jim kept going, his lips exploring further down Victor's neck, nipping and lapping up at the skin in small patches. Eventually, and slowly, he pulled back again, pressing his lips to Victor's in a slow kiss.

"Should I go get your present now?" Posed as an actual question because he was perfectly fine with leaving it for later, if Victor happened to be more curious about the contents of the box next to the mattress.

And James would be getting more encouraging responses from Victor: soft little moans, his fingers tightening just enough. He was ready for that kiss when it came.

Victor was very curious about that box, but he also wanted to see what else James thought up for gifts. "Yes, please."

With a smile and a last kiss, Jim got to his feet, fetching Victor's gift. It was a large nondescript black gift bag. Inside Victor would find two wrapped items: a larger one, which was a traditional doctor's bag; and since Victor loved vintage stuff as much as Jim did, the second gift was a vintage medical kit— obviously meant as collectible decorative piece.

Jim still had a last gift (because he wouldn't be himself if he didn't overdo it a little), but he waited for Victor's reaction to those first two gifts before handing the last present to him.

He thought he had some idea of what he was going to find inside the gift bag. He was very, very wrong.

"Holy shit," he breathed. "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen." Face lit up, he looked through all the items in the medical kit with a fond, nostalgic smile on his face. "It's like the one I had back in school!" He carefully put it aside so he could thank James with a kiss. "It's perfect. Thank you."

Jim couldn't help laugh at Victor's reaction, which was even cuter and more excited than he was hoping for. "Really? Well, that's a very happy coincidence." He should've guessed that Victor would've had one of these, back in his own world.

"You're welcome. But," he pulled back from the kiss, lifting a finger. "There's one last thing."

"There's even more?" His head spun a little. Being in space would've been amazing all on its own. Getting a vintage medical kit-- looking like all the pieces were in great condition-- was also amazing. How could there possibly be more?

Jim smiled sheepishly. "I may have overdone it a little bit," he confessed. He just found so many nice gift ideas that it was hard to narrow it down. Hopefully Victor wouldn't think it was too much.

He pulled a smaller box from his pocket. This one wasn't wrapped, and by the dark velvet Victor could likely tell it was another piece of jewellery. Slightly different this time, though— it was a pair of copper pendants, the design of a constellation that was completed when the two were put together side by side, and on the back of each pendant, a small "J" and "V" were engraved.

Victor let out a weak little breath. And almost couldn't find his breath again when he saw the last gift. Victor was always thinking and saying out loud that they fit. Now James got a gift that embodied that feeling. Victor's lungs remembered how to work after a moment.

"It's--" He struggled for the right words. "Beautiful." He ran the chain through his fingers, lifting so he could help clip it around James's neck. "Help me put mine on?" He didn't really need he help; he just felt like that was the right way to respond to this.

Jim scooted closer as Victor put the chain around his neck, his fingers reaching for the pendant, thumb stroking over the small "V" engraved on the back. He nodded and promptly picked up the other chain, leaning in close and putting the other necklace around Victor's neck.

He cupped Victor's face with both hands, kissing him slowly, one of his hands dropping down so his fingers brushed over the pendant Victor was now wearing. "I worried it might be too much," he said with a small smile. "But I did get you a ring already, so I figured— what the hell, right?"

Every day with James, he understood a little more how love could be so powerful. It shook him a little how much he loved this man.

"I don't... I don't know if I can ever say or do enough to show you how much you mean to me, James," he said at last. " 'I love you' isn't enough, but it's all I can think of right now."

"Don't say that. You show me every day how you feel about me," he tugged on Victor's shirt, pursing his lips and shrugging playfully. "Although... I won't say no if you ever feel like showering me with awesome romantic gifts."

“I always feel like showering you with gifts,” Victor answered, echoing the shrug. “I like making things for you. I actually thought of something I can make you while we’re up here. But first, when do I find out what’s in the box?”

"Tease!" He gasped accusingly, adding a playful shove as he grinned. "You're just gonna leave me hanging, aren't you? Unbelievable."

Helping put Victor's gifts back into the bag, he slowly got to his feet. "Move to the bed. I'll just take care of the dishes and be right there."
