[OPEN]
who: Ichimatsu & OPEN, with one closed prompt.
what: Adoption Day at the Animal Shelter.
when: July 17th
where: the Animal Shelter!
warnings: Ichimatsu's mouth, possible death by adorable animals.
a; adoptions galore!
[So recently, shit has sucked in Quarantine. People getting kidnapped and tortured, sicknesses putting people in comas... It's been a rough few weeks, months, it's just been rough. Ichimatsu, for one, isn't especially used to rough, but he's getting there. Things like Peter Parker's Bad Movie Night had been great, simple and easy, fun. But he had to assume he wasn't the only one having a rough time of it, and... Well, he worked at a Shelter full of cute friendly animals.]
[Okay so not all of them were cute or friendly, but, most of the ones that were were the focus of today.]
[He had a sign tacked up across the front of the building in bold letters reading "ADOPTION EVENT", and the doors themselves were propped open. He wasn't the most social of guys, but this would both help clear out some of his enclosures for new animals, and maybe help someone in Quarantine get a support animal.]
[Animals can be pretty much anything you want them to be, though most fall into at least a vague domesticated-earth-animal archetype. If there's something in particular you'd like your character to adopt, feel free to bring it up! Most everything can be found somewhere in Quarantine, he's got a selection.]
b; closed to Osomatsu;
[He'd overheard a conversation nearly a week ago, now, and it was obvious that Osomatsu was affected by Karamatsu's absence. They all were, really, but Ichimatsu found himself oddly settled. The conversation they'd had at the impromptu birthday party he'd thrown together for them felt... Final, in a way that he hadn't quite known to recognize until Karamatsu turned up missing. It was obvious, maybe to him and him alone, that Karamatsu had gone home. He probably hadn't meant to, the numbskull, not by himself, but... Ichimatsu was glad for him, and it was a bizarre sort of serenity that came with being the one that understood. He felt... oddly mature, for it.]
[So as he'd put together the Adoption Day at the Shelter, he texted his brother specifically.]
hey
come by the shelter
one, i'm having an adoption event and i should really not be the only one in the house with pets
two, i wanna talk to you
c; wildcard?

ghosthotel. I work weird hours, so I'll likely be slow until Wednesday, but I'll get back to you ASAP! ♥ My notifications have also been hella borked lately, so feel free to bother me if I haven't replied to you.]

Osomatsu is quiet for a moment, and then his eyes begin to twitch. he quickly presses his face against Ichimatsu's shoulder, moving to wrap his arms around him and grip the back of his shirt desperately.
hearing those words eases Osomatsu's mind. so then, finally, the floodgates open and he breaks into a sob. he's so mad, mad at Karamatsu, mad that Karamatsu made him cry. he deserves to get beaten up!
why can't Osomatsu be stronger? he was the one who reassured Ichimatsu that Reaper would return, right? he's seen people come and go here. Ivar went home and came back, too. the scientists here had that power. but, for some reason, this feels final, and he's mad, and sad. why didn't Karamatsu even say goodbye to him?]
hey it's this icon in reverse
[He scoots until he's dragging Osomatsu out of his chair and sliding out of his own, flopping to sit on the floor with him so that on the off-chance someone comes in they aren't immediately visible in their little Moment, and he uses the shift to drag Osomatsu bodily to him, holding him in a way he rarely even holds cats. He doesn't say anything, because not a lot can be said, right now, and it's pretty obvious that Osomatsu needs this. So he just lets him, reaching one hand up and scratching the hair at the nape of his neck gently with chew-ragged fingernails.]
oof
he eventually settles down and snuffles, pulling his red face away from Ichimatsu so that he can rub at his puffy eyes. he hiccups]
L-lame... I gave myself a headache...
good parkas
I've got some water bottles in the fridge in the staff room.
[No teasing, no remarks.]
