[OPEN]
who: Ichimatsu & OPEN, with one closed prompt.
what: Adoption Day at the Animal Shelter.
when: July 17th
where: the Animal Shelter!
warnings: Ichimatsu's mouth, possible death by adorable animals.
a; adoptions galore!
[So recently, shit has sucked in Quarantine. People getting kidnapped and tortured, sicknesses putting people in comas... It's been a rough few weeks, months, it's just been rough. Ichimatsu, for one, isn't especially used to rough, but he's getting there. Things like Peter Parker's Bad Movie Night had been great, simple and easy, fun. But he had to assume he wasn't the only one having a rough time of it, and... Well, he worked at a Shelter full of cute friendly animals.]
[Okay so not all of them were cute or friendly, but, most of the ones that were were the focus of today.]
[He had a sign tacked up across the front of the building in bold letters reading "ADOPTION EVENT", and the doors themselves were propped open. He wasn't the most social of guys, but this would both help clear out some of his enclosures for new animals, and maybe help someone in Quarantine get a support animal.]
[Animals can be pretty much anything you want them to be, though most fall into at least a vague domesticated-earth-animal archetype. If there's something in particular you'd like your character to adopt, feel free to bring it up! Most everything can be found somewhere in Quarantine, he's got a selection.]
b; closed to Osomatsu;
[He'd overheard a conversation nearly a week ago, now, and it was obvious that Osomatsu was affected by Karamatsu's absence. They all were, really, but Ichimatsu found himself oddly settled. The conversation they'd had at the impromptu birthday party he'd thrown together for them felt... Final, in a way that he hadn't quite known to recognize until Karamatsu turned up missing. It was obvious, maybe to him and him alone, that Karamatsu had gone home. He probably hadn't meant to, the numbskull, not by himself, but... Ichimatsu was glad for him, and it was a bizarre sort of serenity that came with being the one that understood. He felt... oddly mature, for it.]
[So as he'd put together the Adoption Day at the Shelter, he texted his brother specifically.]
hey
come by the shelter
one, i'm having an adoption event and i should really not be the only one in the house with pets
two, i wanna talk to you
c; wildcard?

ghosthotel. I work weird hours, so I'll likely be slow until Wednesday, but I'll get back to you ASAP! ♥ My notifications have also been hella borked lately, so feel free to bother me if I haven't replied to you.]

WILD CAR???
Karamatsu's sudden disappearance served to exacerbate those feelings to the point Jyushimatsu visited the network more often to fill the weird gap in his chest. He got used to the four of them being together in this strange world, and now their numbers have been reduced so abruptly, and he has yet to recover from it. He knows the other two must be in a worse mood than he is, so he never let his sadness be shown because the least thing he wants is to make them even more upset.
There's a wide smile easily fixed on his face when he steps into the shelter and finds Ichimatsu there. ]
What's up, nii-san! Do you mind if I tag along for a bit?
drngb
Sure thing. Just don't shout too much in here, if the animals are spooked they won't adopt well.
no subject
Then he marches back in, mouth rounded in surprise. ]
You're setting them all for adoption?
[ Quieter, just above a whisper, as he leans in. ]
That's awesome! Did anyone step in to claim one of he cuties yet?
no subject
[He shrugs.] Not yet.
no subject
[ If his house didn't already have cats, he'd think of getting a dog. But there's already one dog around - himself - and that's enough. ]
I can help you advertise harder! Network, fliers, whatever! I'll spread word like wildfire!
no subject
Nah, it doesn't need that. If people want pets they know where to go, I don't want to be annoying about it.
no subject
[ Jyushimatsu argues, puffing his cheeks. He wants to help, ok! ]
If people won't step up and it becomes an issue, I'll put up a good word on the network or something!
no subject
Already got one.
no subject
Well, it doesn't cover all of the city...!
no subject
[His tone is mild. but firm. Don’t push him on this, Jyushimatsu, it’s the one thing he’s almost confident at.]
no subject
[ BUT FINE, he'll relent only because Ichi must know what he's doing. If the place over crowds, however, Jyushi's gonna help. ]
Anyway, how are you today? If you're starving you should take a break and we'll go grab a bite!
no subject
Then what did you mean by covering all of the city? I wouldn't say starving, but I can break for lunch.
no subject
[ Thingies. Listen, he doesn't have a rich vocabulary like Karamatsu.
Hearing the next bit about lunch, he reaches out with a sleeve. ]
Alrighty! I guess it won't hurt if you close shop for a bit!

thank goodness he hadn't lost his job, or Lyle, and thank goodness that he still had some brothers in the quarantine. however, it would not be the same without Karamatsu. Osomatsu was waiting for him to walk back through the door every night.
the text arrives while he's at home. a Tuesday is the first day of his weekend, and he's grateful for that. he's been wanting to just mope around, maybe hide in his room and sleep. but it seems like Ichimatsu has other plans]
k ill be there in ten mins
[then he's off. it doesn't take him a long time to arrive. and when he does, he's grinning, as usual. he looks... proud? of Ichimatsu, for arranging this. so he waves, to his little brother, and wonders if his gooey deer is still around]
Yo!
no subject
Don't think they'll mind if you're behind the counter for a bit, it's been pretty quiet.
no subject
Ah, really? Even with the event goin' on?
no subject
He asks, sitting down anyway.
no subject
I'm serious! If it's quiet, it means you're not gettin' business! You gotta get out there an' make some noise
[this is Ichimatsu he's talking to]
no subject
Me, make some noise.
no subject
he deflates and then waves a hand dismissively] You know what, never mind.
no subject
...go out there and be like Karamatsu, is what you're meaning.
no subject
Kinda stupid t'say, huh?
phone tags quietly
I overheard you and Seragaki talking about him the other day.
