We could try a new one, see if you like those steps better, or start with more practice on the one from last time. It's a little faster, but not something that might trip up Victor.

[ His original world, anyway. It's complicated. But point is, he's been to more balls than Jim, that's for sure. ]
I wouldn't mind trying to go a little faster. So I can keep up with him.

[:D]
But we can still begin something a little faster. You are a quick learner, there is no reason not to try. I don't know if I can find close enough music, but I have found the steps are easy enough to translate into most other beats.
[he holds out his hand.] If you are ready.
[listen, cassian is no nonsense. why waste time with small talk! lessons, started.]

[ Just terrible. It's a wonder why Jim likes him so much.
He nods in agreement, then smiles, stepping closer to Cassian and taking his hand promptly. ]
I'm always ready. [ Maybe an exaggeration, but! He does adapt quickly to just about any situation. So, still counts. ]

[he takes jim's hand anyway, because he supposes they are here for a reason.]
Not always. That's why I ask. [one last insult of his own!! #friendship. then he scoops jim's other hand up to his shoulder, before setting his own on jim's waist.] It starts like this, but there are more movements. Backward steps, circles. We can go through it slowly first, but it does flow much faster than what I will show you.

Alright. [ He smirks, eyes wrinkling at the corners as he looks at Cassian. ] Let's take it slow, for now. This is my first time.
[ please be gentle sensei~ ]

And here I thought you were prone to just diving right in.
[but he immediately takes that first step backwards. it might not be slow, because did he want to catch jim off guard for that? yes. he'll go slow the rest of the time though.] The counting is by fours, with the occasional five.

You don't even know how prone I really am to just diving right in.
[ Just saying man, be glad neither of them is single, or Cassian would be Suffering™.
With a slight spring to his first couple of steps, he's soon following Cassian's lead, matching each step with one of his own. ]
How occasional? I'm guessing not at random.
no subject
It is not very hard to imagine.
[he is already Suffering, just maybe without the ™. jim is definitely one of his more impulsive friends. how did he end up with so many of them, honestly?]
[but he is also a fast learner, which isn't a surprise. cassian agreed to teach him in the first place because a) they are friends and b) he assumed it would not be difficult. once jim figures out the basics, he does lead at a faster pace, closer to the actual speed of the dance.]
Roughly every thirty seconds.

[ He throws Cassian a playful wink. He doesn't often flirt harmlessly, particularly at Cassian, but he won't lie, it's kind of fun to do. He'll make a note of that, just because he likes to tease and annoy him. It's how he shows he cares!
He picks up his pace to match Cassian's, forcing himself not to look down. It's a tendency he's learned to control, and it really doesn't help in staying true to the steps, and the rhythm of the music. He nods wordlessly, a mental clock counting those thirty seconds until it's time for that fifth step that Cassian mentioned. ]
