[ Jim just narrows his eyes, but doesn't say anything this time around. Instead he moves closer and falls into step with Cassian, following his instructions as they start to move. ]

Alright. [ He smirks, eyes wrinkling at the corners as he looks at Cassian. ] Let's take it slow, for now. This is my first time.

[ please be gentle sensei~ ]

[unfazed, he rolls his eyes.]

And here I thought you were prone to just diving right in.

[but he immediately takes that first step backwards. it might not be slow, because did he want to catch jim off guard for that? yes. he'll go slow the rest of the time though.] The counting is by fours, with the occasional five.

Hey— [ A small laugh bubbles up his throat, and though Cassian does catch him off guard, he's annoyingly quick to catch up. ]

You don't even know how prone I really am to just diving right in.

[ Just saying man, be glad neither of them is single, or Cassian would be Suffering™.

With a slight spring to his first couple of steps, he's soon following Cassian's lead, matching each step with one of his own. ]

How occasional? I'm guessing not at random.

[jim just gets the most innocent of faces. cassian has done nothing wrong ever in his life, at least about dancing.]

It is not very hard to imagine.

[he is already Suffering, just maybe without the ™. jim is definitely one of his more impulsive friends. how did he end up with so many of them, honestly?]

[but he is also a fast learner, which isn't a surprise. cassian agreed to teach him in the first place because a) they are friends and b) he assumed it would not be difficult. once jim figures out the basics, he does lead at a faster pace, closer to the actual speed of the dance.]

Roughly every thirty seconds.

Mm, it's true... I leave very little to the imagination.

[ He throws Cassian a playful wink. He doesn't often flirt harmlessly, particularly at Cassian, but he won't lie, it's kind of fun to do. He'll make a note of that, just because he likes to tease and annoy him. It's how he shows he cares!

He picks up his pace to match Cassian's, forcing himself not to look down. It's a tendency he's learned to control, and it really doesn't help in staying true to the steps, and the rhythm of the music. He nods wordlessly, a mental clock counting those thirty seconds until it's time for that fifth step that Cassian mentioned. ]
