[To say being kidnapped and tortured had sucked was putting it mildly. He didn't even really remember most of what had happened, being he'd been kidnapped already running a nasty fever, and once things had gotten bad he'd done his best to mentally check himself out so he wouldn't remember. He'd spent the first several days they were home silent and avoiding all three of them, sorting himself out and trying to decide if there was any actual damage he needed to discuss or be seen for-- In the end he took some NyQuil and slept on the couch for three days without waking up other than to pee and take more NyQuil and seemed to be okay.]

[So the next morning, he'd waited until the other three were all awake, and shuffled his way awkwardly into the doorway of the bedroom, one of the kittens on his shoulder.]

...so, uh. Kidnapping sucks, can we do something fun? We all kinda missed our birthday, anyway...

[He shuffles aside, and on the coffee table are three neatly wrapped presents of varying sizes. One is red, one is blue, and one is yellow.]

...yeah. I guess it's kinda nice to be conscious for longer than an hour.

[ Jyushimatsu glances a bit worriedly towards Ichimatsu now. ]

How are you feeling though? Does it still hurt anywhere?

[ He tried to reach out lately, but Ichi still hates being touched so he'd been holding back since then. A pity since all he wants is to be able to hug his best friend again. ]

[The kitten squirms out of his grip and he draws his knees up to himself, shrugging.]

[ He hugs his newly gifted bat to compensate for the fact he can't hug his brother, ok.

But then he relents a little, patting a hand over his own chest. ]

Does it hurt here?

[ A roundabout way to ask "are you hurt in the emotions?". ]

[He closes his eyes and hums softly, thinking.]

...a little. It's... more like a sort of all-over hurt, but only sometimes. [He hugs his knees.] But I've always been like that, this just... made it really bad, for a little while.

[He glances at the couch beside him and reaches one hand to the side, patting the cushion.] Wanna sit?

[ The reply worries him greatly, but he practically bounces at the idea that he can sit next to Ichi! He quickly scurries his way to the couch and flops on the same spot Ichimatsu has patted three seconds ago, with Big Baseball Dick still nestled in his arms. ]

I'll do anything to make beat those bad feelings up! Seeing you like that made me sad!

[ Like, really sad. It's a big deal to Jyushi, not like his nearly half cracked skull that's still healing. ]

[He smiles faintly and tips himself sideways, leaning on Jyushimatsu's shoulder.]

Sorry. It'll get better.

[ When that happens, Jyushimatsu goes instantly still! He has no intention to do any sudden movement and startle his brother. ]

Things will always get better, so we'll just have to wait for it!

[There's a smile that never quite leaves his face. God, he missed the easy, simple contact he could have with Jyushimatsu and not have to talk about it. Or talk about anything, really, they could just sit, and have a mutual understanding of nothing and everything all at once.]

[ It's hard to restrain himself from just... moving a sleeve and patting Ichi's head with it, because he wants to give all the comfort in the world and he feels just sitting there is not enough. But if Ichimatsu is okay with it, smiling like that, then Jyushimatsu can and will do his part like the good little brother he can be sometimes.

He just... leans in a tiny bit, his cheek lightly touching the top of Ichi's head. ]

Ah, but I didn't get you a present for our birthday... that's bad! I should think about it!

[He doesn't recoil from the contact or react negatively-- he doesn't really react at all, but in a lot of ways that's usually a good thing.]

[ Well, not counting the fact he completely skipped the birthday because he was thrown in Riverview from mid-March and it was already June... ]

Was, little over a month ago. I've got a job that I've had for a while now, so I had some money. It's fine.

[Honestly, Jyushimatsu just being here is kind of enough of a birthday present.]

[Though he finds it kind of funny, in the long run, because he missed his first birthday in Riverview, too, by virtue of showing up just afterward.]
