PRE-SURGERY

As much as he trusted Beverly, he preferred it not just be him that was comfortable with this and trusting. There was also the matter of getting approval not just from his guardians but his doctor, as well. So he sent Beverly a quick message:

Could you visit? I have a medical question for you. I'm sure Undertaker and my father would like to be included as well.

C. Phantomhive.

If she agreed, she'd find the teen at the house without his eyepatch for once.

There's no way she wouldn't agree and after everything that happened last month, she can't help but be worried, even if she logically knows the illness is gone and the culprit in custody.

Knocking on the front door, she waits with some trepidation outside.

He quietly made his way to the door and gave her a smile, one blue eye and one a dull, glowing, purple directed up at her. It wasn't surprising that she'd come so quickly, not with recent incidents and her knowledge of his health.

"Thank you for coming."

[dancingmd]

"Of course." Already she's looking him over, searching for any outward signs that something is wrong. She knows by now that his eye, however strange, is acting normally. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

[sweetlies]

"Well..." She wouldn't find anything wrong with him aside from the contract seal on his eye. He'd had some time to think about this request, even consulted his little family.

Finding the words now though? That's much harder than making the choice to go through with something like this.

"I suppose I should just... say it." He takes a breath. "I wonder how you would feel if I asked you to remove my eye?"

It's not the request she was expecting, and it's a big one. "That... depends." She looks out of the foyer and towards the parlor. "Why don't we sit down and discuss it further?"

[sweetlies]

He'd be curious about what she had been expecting. Maybe later, he'll find out. For now though, he nods and steps aside to let her into the house.

"Of course. Please, make yourself comfortable. I can start tea... or something. If you'd like."

"Tea would be very nice, thank you," she says as she takes a seat in the parlor.

There's a little nod and he goes into the kitchen for a moment, starting to heat the water and finding a good tea for the situation. He's torn between something soothing and something strong. For himself, he sets a strong black tea bag into his cup and selects a few options for Beverly.

The water doesn't take long and he carefully brings the water and the cups out on a little tray.

"I wasn't sure what you might prefer."

"Oh, anything is fine - I'll have whatever you're having."

[sweetlies]

"Alright then." He slips one into her cup and sets it in front of her.

"I like stronger black teas. My butler would make me a strong tea to wake up each morning. It's a habit we've kept up here, even without Sebastian."

[dancingmd]

"Captain Picard and I also often drank tea together. Though, his preference was specifically for Earl Grey. It's a nice ritual to have together."

[sweetlies]

"You did?" That makes him smile, making sure the water is still not enough, starting to fix his own cup. It makes him miss some of the finer china he had in England but this is all just as good.

"I'm actually familiar with Earl Grey. The current one, at least. He's one of the Queen's butlers."

[dancingmd]

She frowns in confusion. "Her butler? But he's an Earl... I though butlers were servants?"

[sweetlies]

There's just a little shrug.

"I actually understand very little about the Double Charles. They call themselves Her Majesty's butlers and secretarial officers. They're usually given the task of delivering her orders for me."

[dancingmd]

She shakes her head. "I find it all very confusing!"

[sweetlies]

"It's much easier to understand when you're raised among this kind of system. I am an Earl, after all, but serve as the Queen's Watchdog and head of the Aristocrats of Evil. We do as Her Majesty commands."

It had seemed that simple back in England, at least. The Queen's willingness to punish Ciel's 'mischief' with Charles Grey framing him for murder though... his loyalty was justifiably called into question.
