In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

a celebration of platonic love

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire month. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.

i. gift fountain

While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the month, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the month.

Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.

This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming post on the meme community. Any newly apped character is welcome to post on the meme entry as soon as they're accepted, and will be linked to it in this month's acceptance notification, so to all you pre-existing players please keep looking at the Prijata Pregame meme throughout app week and afterward to help give new arrivals a warm friendly welcome!

ii. speed-friending

This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!

For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!

iii. club exhibition

Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a month-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.

And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.

iv. amusement park & waterfight

Remember the Amusement Park that citizens of the city were working together to clean up and power up a couple of months ago? Well, the endeavor has proven to be a success, and after a lot of hard work and technical expertise, the amusement park is up and running! For the first two weeks of June, admission will be free to honor those who helped make the park usable.

Sporting just about any amusement park ride you can think of, from kiddie rides, merry-go-rounds, and ferris wheels to high-speed roller coasters and more extreme rides for the thrill-seekers, the park takes it a step further by adding in a lot of different high-tech attractions not available at conventional amusement parks. It has banks and banks of VR simulators that allow park-goers to enjoy a variety of adventures and scenarios, or join shared mutual worlds with other users to explore or take out their aggression with a VR first-person shooter. There are also rows and rows of typical carnival games, some heavily rigged and some not, with prizes ranging from dollar store trinkets to stuffed animals to bits of advanced tech.

For the month of grand opening, though, the amusement park is offering a couple interesting events - a naming contest for the park, and a park-wide water fight.

The water fight is opt-in, with participants signing up and being given a purple or orange flag, tank top, or cap to wear marking them as to which team they're part of. There are buckets of water balloons around the park that are constantly being refilled by staff, and water fighters can participate in special target practice games to win the use of a watergun for the duration of the day - how big your watergun is depends on how well you do in the game! Ultimately, there aren't any real winners or losers, because the point is to get wet in the brand new summer heat, but it's always more fun to cool off with a bit of competition involved, right?

The naming contest is another story. Anyone who visits the park is welcome to think up a name for the park, and all entries will be listed on a large LED board. Every customer who enters the park is invited to vote for their favorite name, and the name with the most votes wins! To submit either an in-character suggestion or a suggestion from yourself as a player, hit up the thread below with a new top-level; whether or not you have a neat idea, place a vote for your favorite! Votes are one per player; suggestions are one per character.

[ The idea of playing his first match in the stadium is super lovely and he's now instantly supporting it 100%! ]

[ But then he'll probably forget about doing that because he'a scatterbrained fool. ]

Then it sounds like a plan.

[ Whether Jyushimatsu will follow through or not, Wally doesn't know. But he does plan on trying to keep his end of the deal if he does. ]

We're going to need around at least sixteen other people for two teams. I know it seems like a lot, but the Quarantine is a pretty big place.

If there are so many people here, then we're sure gonna find sixteen brave souls willing to play base--... softball!

[ Trying not to mix the two words together is going to be a Handful for this guy.

He smiles brightly at Wally. ]

I'm glad I met you, Wally! Hoping so hard to make this bas... softball thing a reality! And you should show me how fast you run sometime!

[ Wally can't help but match Jyushimatsu's smile. The guy might be a little strange, but there is just something about his upbeat attitude. ]

Yeah, sure, no problem. Though you really won't get to see anything unless you want a ride.

[ He isn't so much as actually offering him a ride sometime as he is implying he's really fast. But he could probably manage to give him a lift piggyback style as long as there's a promise of no puking involved. ]

And I'm glad I met you too, Jyushimatsu.

[ Wow. Jyushimatsu beams at the idea. He has no idea whether Wally is actually that mighty fast or he's bullshitting, but the thought of riding on his back as he runs fills Jyushimatsu with intense anticipation. ]

Oh, you know what? I'm taking you up on that and ask for a ride whenever you're up for it!

[ His stomach is not weak, so no worries. There won't be any surprise puking. ]

[ Wally just blinks at the man sitting across the table for a few seconds, taken aback that his not so serious offer of a ride was actually accepted. Though he really shouldn't be shocked it he thought about it. ]

...I got time now?

[ His cup of coffee is essentially empty by this point, and it's not like he needs this whole speed-friending thing. If Jyushimatsu's up for it, he could run him around at a few hundred miles an hour for a couple minutes. ]

Really?

[ Jyushimatsu practically bounces on his feet, knocking the chair over. He can drop whatever he wanted to do about this friending business if it means he can spend the next minutes experiencing the thrill of going Faster Than Ever. ]

I'm totally ready for this Wally! You better not disappoint me!

[ The sound of the chair toppling over has everyone staring in their direction once again, and Wally thinks the faster they get out of here the better. Jyushimatsu might not care or be aware of the looks they are getting from the other customers and staff alike, but he most certainly does. ]

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

[ He quickly downs what little coffee is left in his cup before he rises to his feet in a way that leaves his chair upright. See, it can be done. They don't have to wait for the bill because those who took part in the friending event got their coffee on the house. ]

Let's get this show on road, shall we.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah! Let's hurry up!

[ And they're out of the coffee shop a minute later, with Jyushimatsu not even waiting for Wally before darting outside, excitedly flailing his sleeves when the other man catches up. ]

Okay Wally let's do this!

[ ... A beat. He looks a bit embarrassed when he quietly asks: ]

... How do we do this?

[ There's amusement shining in Wally's green eyes as he smiles despite himself at Jyushimatsu's question. ]

Well, you got two options. You can ride on my back which is a little more dangerous and thus I have to go a little slower. Or, I can carry you the traditional way and I can go faster since I don't have to worry about you falling off.

[ Either way, he thinks he will have little problem surpassing whatever expectations Jyushimatsu has for this experience. ]

[ It apparently takes him a while to decide because piggyback rides are awesome but he also doesn't want to die and stay dead. Or break bones and wait forever to heal. For once he's forced to actually be careful since there's no gag anime immunity saving him here. ]

Traditional way, then! I want you to go as fast as you can!

[ Still plenty curious about how fast they're talking about, but yeah, he'll get closer so Wally can pick him up! Thankfully he's a small bean and not that heavy at all. ]

[ Wally has no intentions of going as fast as he can. He's capable of exceeding the speed of light, and in doing so, there are significant risks that come with it. Still, he anticipates they'll be going fast enough to where Jyushimatsu will be more than satisfied.

Not bothering to summon his Flash suit made out of pure Speed Force energy, he quickly scoops the other man up in his arms, one hooked underneath his knees and the other wrapped around the middle of his back. After a little shifting of Jyushimatsu's weight in his arms, he's just about ready to go. ]

Okay, um. Just ignore the lightning that you'll see. It's completely harmless.

[ Except for the times that it isn't. It's weird. Everything about the Speed Force is weird. Just go with it. ]

And if you hurl on me, I will drop you. [ His expression is just serious enough that someone might actually believe him. ] So... ready?

[ There are lot of enigmas surrounding Jyushimatsu but one thing you can rest assured of is that he does follow instructions sometimes, and right now he's so lookng forward for this shit that you bet he'll try his best not to mess up! Emphasis on try.

He nods, wrapping his sleeves around Wally's shoulders and clinging tightly! Wally can feel the vibrations of excitement running through the guy, he's pretty much like an overjoyed puppy with an invisible tail wagging frenetically behind him. ]

I won't hurl! I can control my stomach just fine! [ True story. ]

Yeah yeah yeah I'm super ready! I'll be in your care! Muscle, hustle!

[ Please if he waits any longer he might turn into some kind of car engine with how much he's humming and vibrating. ]

[ After a quick look around to make sure there aren't too many people watching them, Wally grins down at Jyushimatsu who is now literally bouncing in anticipation in in his arms. ]

Well, here we go!

[ It takes all of one step for the bluish-white lightning Wally mentioned earlier to start crackling and flickering around around them, and half a second later, the people and buildings in the Quarantine begin to appear as nothing more than a blur of colors for the passenger in his arms as they run through the city hovering somewhere around the speed of sound.

Despite the rush of wind probably filling Jyushimatsu ears, Wally asks him the all important question a few seconds into their speedy adventure. ]

What do you think? Pretty cool, huh?

[ One of Jyushimatsu's dreams is to become the fastest. He can already be quite fast with his running and swimming, faster than many known athletes. Sadly he was too attached to his NEET lifestyle to pursue something meaningful with that skill.

But after Wally took off and everything around them became a blur, Jyushimatsu realizes how naive he had been. Because his speed is nowhere near close to the one he's being currently made a witness of.

His mind swims, and it can't even register a "holy shit" from how dizzy he instantly gets. The wind blows fiercely past his hair and loudly into his ears, making them ring obnoxiously. His mouth hangs open, unable to put two words together. He can't even scream.

Wally must have asked him something a minute ago, but he was barely able to listen. Afterwards, he breaks into a stream of silly giggles once he finally finds his voice again. ]

Whoaaaaaaa! Ahahahahaha! This is... awesome!!!
