In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

a celebration of platonic love

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire month. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.

i. gift fountain

While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the month, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the month.

Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.

This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming post on the meme community. Any newly apped character is welcome to post on the meme entry as soon as they're accepted, and will be linked to it in this month's acceptance notification, so to all you pre-existing players please keep looking at the Prijata Pregame meme throughout app week and afterward to help give new arrivals a warm friendly welcome!

ii. speed-friending

This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!

For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!

iii. club exhibition

Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a month-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.

And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.

iv. amusement park & waterfight

Remember the Amusement Park that citizens of the city were working together to clean up and power up a couple of months ago? Well, the endeavor has proven to be a success, and after a lot of hard work and technical expertise, the amusement park is up and running! For the first two weeks of June, admission will be free to honor those who helped make the park usable.

Sporting just about any amusement park ride you can think of, from kiddie rides, merry-go-rounds, and ferris wheels to high-speed roller coasters and more extreme rides for the thrill-seekers, the park takes it a step further by adding in a lot of different high-tech attractions not available at conventional amusement parks. It has banks and banks of VR simulators that allow park-goers to enjoy a variety of adventures and scenarios, or join shared mutual worlds with other users to explore or take out their aggression with a VR first-person shooter. There are also rows and rows of typical carnival games, some heavily rigged and some not, with prizes ranging from dollar store trinkets to stuffed animals to bits of advanced tech.

For the month of grand opening, though, the amusement park is offering a couple interesting events - a naming contest for the park, and a park-wide water fight.

The water fight is opt-in, with participants signing up and being given a purple or orange flag, tank top, or cap to wear marking them as to which team they're part of. There are buckets of water balloons around the park that are constantly being refilled by staff, and water fighters can participate in special target practice games to win the use of a watergun for the duration of the day - how big your watergun is depends on how well you do in the game! Ultimately, there aren't any real winners or losers, because the point is to get wet in the brand new summer heat, but it's always more fun to cool off with a bit of competition involved, right?

The naming contest is another story. Anyone who visits the park is welcome to think up a name for the park, and all entries will be listed on a large LED board. Every customer who enters the park is invited to vote for their favorite name, and the name with the most votes wins! To submit either an in-character suggestion or a suggestion from yourself as a player, hit up the thread below with a new top-level; whether or not you have a neat idea, place a vote for your favorite! Votes are one per player; suggestions are one per character.

Oh, c'mon, it's water wars. All's fair, and all that.

[The kids all cheer from the sidelines, like Spider-Man totally captured the bandit of the west or some cowboy business. He super dramatically holds the gun out, ready to take the dreaded outlaw Star-Lord down.]

[Yeah no he's in the role, he made it sound like country twang and everything.]

[ Peter looks thoughtful for a second – either because he's seriously considering what his last words are going to be, or because he's wondering why the guy is doing a really awful John Wayne impression. ]

[ And he's snatching a couple of water balloons hanging from his belt, chucking them at this weird guy with his weirder costume. But instead of using the distraction to run away, he surges forward.

Listen. Peter really likes that water gun. He plans on "forgetting" to give it back at the end of the day. Please return it, Red. ]

[WAAAARGH MY FEETSIES ARE GETTIN WET.

Or rather, he hops around like the water balloons are bullets before blinking up at the figure with a permanent uh-oh expression. Maaaan, he's not even ready to blast ya with this huge water gun. Unfair.]

[And here we see a little huddle of children ganging up on a grown adult, peppering him with pistol attacks and buckets of water, and they all sound like they're just LIVIN'. How ever will you catch the Spider-Man when you're so outnumbered, Peter. This is the worst and most unfair thing.

Look at him, he's laughing from the top of a little water slide made for elementary schoolers. It's really not a good precedent to set, crouched on the literal top of a tube slide, but whatever, he's Spider-Man.]

[ Oh sweet Jesus

Peter yelps as he takes the first couple hits, but he dodges behind some waist-high planter as cover. ]

Dude, not cool. Call off your Children of the Corn.

Man, you're so old!

C'mon, kids, don't hang him up to dry—

[This was totally almost the perfect man, but then Peter's civil duty has to go calling — that is, a kid who has also been scaling the waterpark equipment is definitely not supposed to be climbing over the rails like she is oh my god. His weird... sense... thing... is making his spine tingle and he drops the watergun down below before leaping off the equipment.]

Hey, careful!!

[He launches himself faster with a web and just barely manages to catch the kid (or really just manages to get pelted in the chest by a kid, but at least she didn't go falling head-first into the floor), sliding to a stop. Ow, she rang his bell a little bit. But you know. It's harder to catch people when they fall less than a story compared to a super long plunge.]

Geez, kid, you're the same one I had to get out of a tree last week!

Lanie, right? You're gonna get yourself stitches!

[ Well, Peter was peeking around the corner, which is about when he spots Little Miss Daredevil over there doing something she is 100% not supposed to be doing, and, listen, Peter is totally on board with the All’s Fair in Love and Water Wars, but only if you know what you’re doing.

That doesn’t seem to be the case with the kid, though.

He darts out of cover – even if there’s no reasonable way he can catch the girl before she smacks her head against the ground – but Red seems to have it well enough in hand, and Peter lets out a sigh of relief, trotting up to meet them. ]

She alright?

Huh? Oh, yeah!

[He sits upright before, holding up the seven or eight year old by the underside of her arms. The kid looks like a human pretty much, the only out of place thing about her being the bright pink splotches, like paint, across her skin. Bad ass freckles.]

This is Lanie! Her mom and brothers came here after some bad trouble back on her planet. She threw rocks at me when we first met, but now we're totally cool. She's not much of a talker, but I talk a lot, so.

[Whether she doesn't talk because she's traumatized from her planet problems or because she's mute, Spider-Man genuinely doesn't know. She's never made a single noise that he's heard. But she is looking at Quill like she's unimpressed with every single thing about him, just like she does everyone.]

[ It’s cool. Peter gets that look a lot – so much so that he barely notices it by now. ]

Nice to meet you, Lanie.

[ And he says it as he’s crouching down, giving her a quick once-over for any injuries. She looks no worse for wear, and in fact, she kind of looks a little annoyed for the inconvenience of it all. So she’s probably fine.

He lets out a breath, apparently satisfied with his examination. Then, a little approvingly, ]

That would’ve been a cool move if you’d stuck the landing.

[ damn you, gravity.

Also he probably shouldn’t encourage ignoring safety guidelines, but he’s never exactly been a good role model. ]

[Lanie just kind of wriggles out of Spider-Man's grasp as the guy sits on the ground, and then holds out her hand patiently, to which the costumed hero starts patting himself down for something or another.]

Okay, wait, lemme see. Um, I'm kinda broke after eating all those hot dogs, but — oh! Got it, sweet!

[He holds out an amusement park coin and she scoops it up, and then takes off to the nearest little kid ride in ye distance. It is abundantly clear: Spider-Man is a fucking simp, you could get the clothes off his back and maybe his house if you really looked sad enough for it.]

She's a good kid.

[And a fucking swindler who will be a great criminal someday that he can take in to juvie??? But whatever, she's only seven or something now. He holds out a hand, the wide white eyes somehow managing to look hopeful.]

Truce???

[Y'all think truce, but those children are definitely getting Quill's fallen gun, and they're definitely slowly surrounding the betrayer to their clan. He gets that weird tingly danger feeling again, but hell if he knows how it works or why it does what it does yet.]

[ Peter watches the kid run off, wondering briefly if she’s in need of some kind of supervision. But then he shrugs a little. She can probably take care of herself, right?

He turns his attention back to Red, and he arches an eyebrow at the proferred hand. It takes him a few seconds to consider, eyes narrowing and lower jaw shifting slightly to one side. Apparently he makes a decision, and he reaches out to take the proffered hand, except—

He glances up, sees a tiny kid wielding the water rifle that was stolen from Peter’s hands, and— ]

Hey. C’mon. Put that down. That’s mine.

[ But nope. The munchkins are still closing in, and Peter rocks back a step. Then, back at Red— ]

Were you seriously trying to pull a fast one on me?

[ u ain't slick!!! control your minions!!!!! ]

... N-no, I wasn't...

[Well, that sounds ominous.

The leader of the kid pack, armed with the cool gun, aims it. "Getting friendly with the enemy after we paid you in the good stuff...! Get 'em, guys!" Spider-Man is leaping to his feet with a in undignified yowl as a bucket of water gets tossed at him, booking it to the left.]

Run for it!!

[ Peter, in the meantime, squawks as he gets pelted with a few more water balloons – not all of them hitting their mark, but still peppering the ground in front of him. This is some bullshit!!!

So, yeah. He runs. ]

I thought they were on your side?!

[ And as he’s saying it, he catches sight of a bucket of water balloons. It’s meant to be, you know, free for use for everyone, but he scoops it up by the handle in one smooth motion, using the momentum to spin him around. He returns fire briefly, which makes the kids yelp and squeal and laugh as they back up.

Is it cheating to put his superior combat skills and impeccable aim to good use in a water balloon fight against actual children? Yes. Absolutely yes. But they’ve got superior numbers, so Peter is going to use his talents to his advantage.

Peter grins as he slides to a stop, taking cover behind the pedestal of a statue.

But the expression is wiped from his face when he faces the guy in the mask again. ]

You owe me a water gun, Spider Dude.

You act like I broke it and owe you a knew one! It's only over there in enemy territory!

[He motions to where wild children probably are, outside of cover. He's all out of water balloons, too. What a nightmare.]

It's not my fault they're not keen on peace tre—oh shit!

[Like — oh shit, they're rushing us.]

Get a move on, Big Pete—!

[.............. Oh shit x 2.

Peter, you fucking suck, nick-names were a mistake.]

Peter scowls when he hears the pitter-patter of tiny, hyper-aggressive feet. You’d think he’d be used to this, considering what a menace Groot is, but this is multiplied. He can handle one, but this is legion. And he’s readying himself to pounce out of cover, but—

He freezes. ]

—What’d you just call me?

[ is now really the time for this they are about to get torn apart by small, violent children ]

[He skids to a stop, voice one octave higher on the squeaky teen boy factor.]

[Too late, one of them sprays Peter right on the butt.]

[ An outraged squawk, similarly high-pitched: ] It is when you steal from me!

[ THAT’S NOT WHAT FRIENDS DO, LITTLE PETE!!!

But point made, and Peter yelps when a water gun squirts him in the stomach. Okay. Back to running. He lobs Red— Pete, apparently, a couple of water balloons from the bucket, just to get the guy armed, and he whirls around to return fire again. ]

This is 100% your fault!

[He catches them with all the precision and grace that is not becoming of a Pete, throwing them to help make the kids at least scramble out of the way.]

What?! C'mon, they paid me! You're a mercenary-guy-thing, you know how it works!

Yoink!

[That's the only warning the head honcho gets before Peter webs the gun and steals it back into his hands. Look, see? It's not like he can't just steal things back. He tosses it back over to Quill without a second thought, just in time to start shooting water balloon volleys out of the sky. This is how heroes apparently function, fighting small children in water wars.]

They paid you in candy! Totally different. And I am not a mercenary.

[ ... anymore. He’s nice, now.

But, hey, his BFF Gun is back, and— okay. Sadly, this is enough to mollify him, for now. (Behind them, the kid leading the charge shouts in indignation.) But he can’t pump the gun and fire while still holding onto the bucket of balloons, so he shouts a quick, ]

Think fast!

[ before he tosses the bucket, still half-full, to Pete. An olive branch, apparently. ]

How is candy any different than cash? It costs it!

[This is clear-cut logic. But he catches the bucket effortlessly enough with one hand.

Seemingly terrified of their defeat (but you know, giggling anyway), a bunch of the kids start to scramble at their depleted ammo and the way Peter Quill will apparently shot a kid in the face (but not real bullets so it d o e s not count)! But Spider-dude'll throw some water balloons just to keep them scampering.]

You'd better run!

[He drops his head, stewing in the situation.]

This is one of the fiercest battles I've ever faced.

... And I've crash-landed on an airplane.

[ Look, Peter avoids the important parts of the face, okay?

... But those kids are definitely going to be jumping up and down for a while, trying to get water out of their ears.

When their apparent enemy finally scatters, Peter stops, hunching over with a hand on his knee, trying to catch his breath. ]

Yeah. [ Panted out. ] Me too, actually.

[ Well, not airplanes. Space ships. Twice, in fact. Once, with the Dark Aster, and again, with the Milano.

He takes a deep breath, straightening. ]

We should get outta here before your minions come back for revenge.

... Yeah, good idea.

[His feet squish a little when he talks.

And yes, he's gonna stay Spider-Man in public. He has a covert identity to protect.

[ Peter casts Little Pete a level look, one that says, “You know exactly how I’ve been.”

Which is to say, wet, and nearly defeated by literal children. So not fantastic. He wrings out his orange tank top as they hurry away from the scene, and he shoves his sopping hair away from his forehead.

On the bright side, he hasn’t known the kid long enough to feel utterly betrayed by the guy hiding super powers from him, so they can dodge that bullet, at least. ]

What do you call yourself, anyway?

[ Peter’s read enough comic books and watched enough TV and films to know that secret identities are serious business, so he’s at least going to do the kid the favor of not outing him. ]

[Don't mind the weird whirring noise his suit makes — he's suddenly completely dry after it stops whirring, anyway.

I'm the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man — Mr. Stark added the friendly neighborhood thing, but it makes me sound a little less scary. You know, a lot of people are arachnophobic, and all that.

[ The weird noise catches his attention, and maybe in a different moment, Peter would be totally jealous of that particular feature, but—

Listen. It's hot as hell outside. He doesn't mind being wet, but he does mind the near miss with indignity he faced earlier, at the hands of, like, a half dozen kids.

... though he'll probably forget about that soon enough, too. ]

Spider-Man. [ Repeated back like he's testing it. Then, he gives a quick nod. ] And I'm guessing you're going for a double life kinda thing?
