In the days leading up to June 1st, residents new and old will notice preparations beginning, a flurry of activity getting the city ready for the upcoming celebration: Prijata. Riverview Quarantine has a strong culture of love, and they celebrate all types - Prijata is a special celebration of platonic love and building community through friendship. Prijata traditions include gift exchanges between friends, sharing meals cooked together by friend groups, and a variety of events and services aimed at making friends.

a celebration of platonic love

Prijata is a relatively relaxed holiday, focused mainly on friendship and platonic love - dedicated to appreciating the friends already in one's life, and opening oneself up to making new friends. Besides the private giving of gifts between friends, there is also a city-wide government-sponsored gift fountain that is open throughout the entire month. Included in the wide variety of events catered to finding new friends, are 'speed friending' and a large open exhibition where all the specialized clubs in Riverview can recruit for new members - and residents new or old can create a club and recruit.

i. gift fountain

While Prijata gift exchanges between friends are generally a quiet affair, done at friend-group dinners or parties, the element of gift giving does extend outward - community-wide, in fact. Throughout the course of the month, anyone living in Riverview Quarantine can drop by the huge fountain in the City Center, in front of the City Hall. They will find that the fountain is chock full of floating gift boxes in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and different shapes - though none larger than a shoe box. There are signs put up around the fountain stating that the boxes are magic and will only seek and open for their rightful owners. Characters will find that, upon touching the water, a box will float over to them, and when they pick it up, the top will unfurl like flower petals, displaying the gift inside. Sometimes, the box won't appear on the first try, since there's only so much space in the fountain at any given time, but if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Every person in the city (including new arrivals) will receive one gift by the end of the month.

Gift fountain boxes will contain one small item from each character's home dimension (or, for CRAUs, from their previous game), similar to the "items from home" bonus reward, but without needing to spend points. The item should be small enough to fit in a shoebox, sentimental, and cannot be something intended for another person's character. If you can't think of an item like this that would work for your character, something of similar size and quality to what's described above that would make the character very happy can be substituted.

This prompt can also be used for gift exchanges and for characters to receive the Government-given gifts that were suggested in the Prijata Pregaming post on the meme community. Any newly apped character is welcome to post on the meme entry as soon as they're accepted, and will be linked to it in this month's acceptance notification, so to all you pre-existing players please keep looking at the Prijata Pregame meme throughout app week and afterward to help give new arrivals a warm friendly welcome!

ii. speed-friending

This is pretty much what it says on the tin! Much like speed-dating setups, many bars, coffee shops, and other places that people might gather are holding speed-friending! It's your standard setup - characters enter and fill out a quick questionnaire about themselves, and flit from table to table looking for someone with great friend chemistry. Not all of them are general and open to anyone who walks in, though, with many being specialized to people who are invested in certain hobbies, occupations, or with specific sets of interests. With specialized speed-friending setups ranging from horror movie buffs to members of the Perimeter Guard to fashionistas to sports or martial arts to video games, no matter what your character is into, they're likely to be able to sign up for a special event where they can go looking for a friend who's into the same things they are!

For this prompt, you can put up a list of hobbies or interests your character has, and compatible characters can hit them up for a speed-friending thread, like the IC equivalent of the CR meme!

iii. club exhibition

Speed-friending is all well and good, but not everyone is outgoing or open enough to know if they have friend chemistry in only a few minutes. For anyone looking to find groups of like-minded individuals they can spend more than a few minutes with before committing to something as daunting as a friendship, there is a month-long club exhibition happening in the Town Square in the City Center. Table after table and booth after booth are occupied by existing clubs in the city, with an incredibly broad scope of focus interests and hobbies - enough that any character should be able to find a club with their niche interest represented.

And if it isn't? Characters are welcome to start their own clubs - much like a business, a character-run club can have space set aside in the city for meetings and event mingles that are eligible for Activity Point Bonuses for the organizer.

iv. amusement park & waterfight

Remember the Amusement Park that citizens of the city were working together to clean up and power up a couple of months ago? Well, the endeavor has proven to be a success, and after a lot of hard work and technical expertise, the amusement park is up and running! For the first two weeks of June, admission will be free to honor those who helped make the park usable.

Sporting just about any amusement park ride you can think of, from kiddie rides, merry-go-rounds, and ferris wheels to high-speed roller coasters and more extreme rides for the thrill-seekers, the park takes it a step further by adding in a lot of different high-tech attractions not available at conventional amusement parks. It has banks and banks of VR simulators that allow park-goers to enjoy a variety of adventures and scenarios, or join shared mutual worlds with other users to explore or take out their aggression with a VR first-person shooter. There are also rows and rows of typical carnival games, some heavily rigged and some not, with prizes ranging from dollar store trinkets to stuffed animals to bits of advanced tech.

For the month of grand opening, though, the amusement park is offering a couple interesting events - a naming contest for the park, and a park-wide water fight.

The water fight is opt-in, with participants signing up and being given a purple or orange flag, tank top, or cap to wear marking them as to which team they're part of. There are buckets of water balloons around the park that are constantly being refilled by staff, and water fighters can participate in special target practice games to win the use of a watergun for the duration of the day - how big your watergun is depends on how well you do in the game! Ultimately, there aren't any real winners or losers, because the point is to get wet in the brand new summer heat, but it's always more fun to cool off with a bit of competition involved, right?

The naming contest is another story. Anyone who visits the park is welcome to think up a name for the park, and all entries will be listed on a large LED board. Every customer who enters the park is invited to vote for their favorite name, and the name with the most votes wins! To submit either an in-character suggestion or a suggestion from yourself as a player, hit up the thread below with a new top-level; whether or not you have a neat idea, place a vote for your favorite! Votes are one per player; suggestions are one per character.

( yeah. this was the kind of answer he was afraid of hearing even if he was sure that it was going to be the general response: it's been a long time since billy last saw teddy, but the distance in time is. different for the both of them, and even aside from that, this whole thing is messy. he gets it. )

I know. I understand. That's why I wanted to--come out here, tell you face-to-face, I guess. That I'm here, and I'll be here whenever you're ready. Just-- ( tone lowering a little, billy focuses his gaze down. towards teddy's shoes, rather than his face. ) if you're going to go back home, if a portal opens that'll let you through, please text me or something? If you're going somewhere I won't be able to find you.

( the last thing he wants to do is miss an opportunity to say bye, or worse: spend forever fretting over why he can't locate teddy if it's entirely on purpose that he's hiding and it's not because he's dead out in the jungle or something absolutely terrible. )

( that earns him a laugh, at least. the fountain has enough of a ledge to it that billy can lean up against it, rest a palm back so he's not just standing here by a fountain talking to some nerd with an iron man mask in hand. )

I don't have a black cat, I do have a fox named Elliot. And I totally appreciate the Hocus Pocus references. I'm a witch but it's more due to a mutation than anything else, I didn't sit in magic circles practicing spells until after I figured out I had the ability to cast. And I don't really--need need the spells and stuff either. As far as I'm aware, I still age normally. I don't absorb the youth of children to stay young and pretty, and I don't have a spell book.

[ Jon dodges it in the nick of time. ]

[ Who let the kids in. Jon rocks on his heels, beaming. ]

I'm Jon. What kind of video games do you like?

You got to squint a little to get it in.

[ Jon does a serious squint before shooting one of the ducks. Of course, Jon has the benefit of super senses and abilities, but they don't usually help with aiming. ]

[She gives a nod — both to the mention of her bed area, and of them being roommates. Padmé already seems instantly better than many of the other people who've come through Riverview (as much as she loves some of them, they can be... something else). With that in mind, she's as polite as she can be — starting with a name.]

... I'm Laura.

[She certainly has an accent; the other had been her first language.]

If anyone on the floor is unkind to you, let me know. I will straighten them out.

[By beating them up. Maybe. She fears no man.

i. gift fountain

[The picture that comes in her gift box is — unfamiliar. It's so foreign that she's almost completely sure it belongs to someone else, and that it's just a mistake it came over to her. She picks up the slightly aged black and white photograph, turning it over in her hands. A pretty smiling girl of hispanic descent looks at ease. There's nothing on the back of the photo. But the paper it's paperclipped to has something familiar on it:

Transigen's company logo, followed by a short listing of documentation. There's not very much, just a clip of whatever it came out of, but... It stops her cold. SUBJECT X-23ARB, CARRIER OF: X23-23, AGE 25, ORIGINS: TOLUCA, MEXICO. DECEASED. There is a section that talks about a healthy birth. A section about the woman's genetics. There's no name — and yet her identity is so instantly revealed in that moment, Laura forgets to breathe.

She had thought about it before. She'd seen the other children with their mothers, and even before Riverview, she'd yearned to know who it was who conceived her — la madre de Laura. She wanders absently away from the fountain with misty eyes, not looking at her surroundings as she stares deeply into the lively face of a woman who likely died many, many years ago. The word is so unusual, she can't even bring herself to say it; it took her Logan's dying breath to call him what he was.

And now... Mommy.

She was gifted a picture of her mother.]

ii. speed-friending

[In less depressing news, Laura also does the speed-friend thing hosted at the local diner. Don't worry, Linda the caseworker is sticking around the area, making sure things don't go terribly (for the people Laura attempts to friend, more than anything, lbr). Laura has filled out her tiny paper and seems not too worried, ordering herself a huge plate of pancakes and starting the heavy undertaking of putting everything remotely sweet on them.

Ah, look there, it's the paper.

Great.]

[ Loki isn't planning on visiting the fountain. He has enough trinkets from home and various places and the loss of Asgard still sits heavily in his chest to bother checking what might appear. Still as he passes by, he notices Laura. Who seems to be oddly quiet. ]

Little hellion.

i. gift fountain

[ Wally feels like a little kid on Christmas morning when a box appears out of the fountain and makes it's way towards him. He loved the gift the fountain bestowed upon him the last time, a photo of him and his friends from their Teen Titans days, and is ready to cherish whatever piece of home is hidden inside this time.

Though he has to admit he wasn't expecting the gift to be a simple piece of paper that has been folded so it fit inside the box.

He's perplexed at first, but after a quick unfolding, it is revealed the gift is actually a drawing of the Flash he made when he was about ten. You can tell it's his by the way his name is messily scrawled at the bottom right of the page.

He can't be entirely sure, having drawn hundreds of such pictures back then, but he believes this drawing is the one he was working on when his parents told him he'd be staying with his Aunt Iris in Central City for the summer. That summer changed his life for the better in ways he never could have imagined.

A soft chuckle eventually escapes his lips, before he turns to the person closest to him, and proudly holds up the drawing for them to see. ]

ii. speed-friending

[ It dawns on Wally that he has officially been in the Quarantine for a year when he discovers the coffee shop he frequents is once again holding their general speed-friending event for Prijata. He remembers stumbling in shortly after he arrived on this strange moon looking for a cup of joe and practically being forced to sign up if he wanted it.

He figures it's only fitting to take part again in some sort of celebration of his one-year anniversary. And, well, he really wants his late morning coffee.

So with a cup of coffee in hand and an inviting smile gracing his lips, he finds himself perfectly at ease as he sits at the designated table after filling out the appropriate information such as his name and a list of incredibly generic interests (food, movies, running, exploring) for the questionnaire. Hey, he never claimed to be the most interesting of people. ]

iv. waterfight

[ Team Orange finds themselves acquiring the services of a super speedster in this battle for water balloon supremacy. But in the spirit of fair play, Wally chooses to go about it all normal-like assuming those he goes up against abide by the same code.

That means relying more on stealthily sneaking up on members of the opposing team rather than a straightforward assault. It's a tactic that makes him an easy target as he is terrible at being all stealthy.

Of course, he is willing to forgo his no powers philosophy should he happen to come across those he knows in an attempt to avoid their attacks. There's really no sense in having these fancy powers of his if he can't showoff against his friends and talk shit while he does it. ]

gift fountain.

[ It's not like he's expecting much... Yuri doesn't have more than the clothes on his back to start with and a single room back in the lower quarter. He wasn't materialistic and he didn't have a lot he held dear. When he touches a box that blooms at his finger tips, he's surprised to see anything in it at all. He thought he'd get pranked, honestly.

Instead he pulls out a piece of paper and doesn't hesitate. He crumples it up and pitches it across the fountain.

Do you pick it up before it reaches the water?? ]

watergun/wildcard.

[ Yuri's laying nearby the watergun fight on a little hill of warm grass and a nice breeze. It might have gotten hotter here, but he's still intent to chill with his wolf-dog nearby. Occasionally, he opens his eyes to see a few people fight before settling back into comfort, but the moment someone like you turns their gun on him--

He whips out a bright green water pistol and aims. ]

Don't make me do something we'll both regret!

[ He says it cheerfully. ]

Well, no. I can use it, but I don't know any spells. Which is why I'd love to study this fountain and learn how its magic works.

I do, too. It's not necessarily a bad thing when it's giving gifts.

[He smiles a bit and sets about unwrapping his gift. He hadn't thought about handing out his gifts this way. He mostly just had them sent to wherever the people were working]

Of course it's okay. Oh, wow. [He's gotten off the wrapping] This... is a lot. Thank you.

[Why is he here, again?

He somehow got caught in all of this speed friending nonsense last year, and he hadn't enjoyed it then, so why has he let himself get caught for a second time? Probably because of the free food, which is always something he's interested in, especially since he's still resisting efforts to move him into proper housing.

He frowns at the kid across from him utterly without recognition.]

You don't have to say anything, just eat the food.

Sorry, I've forgotten to introduce myself. Doctor Frankenstein. [Yep he's gotten to that point where he just drops his name without warning]

[He does indeed go for the piece of paper, if only because he's not seen anyone actively dislike the present they've received yet, and that makes him curious. He opens up the crumpled bit of paper and frowns down at it, what... even is this?]

[Tony's not here for the speed-friending, he was merely passing by and couldn't resist poking at her project. He takes the seat opposite and points at a section of the code.]

Have you considered shifting that further up? It would make things more tidy.

[He only had a quick glance before he butted in, but now he leans forward and examines it a lot more closely.]
