Keith had definitely noticed the differences, as well as Jay's tendency to be quite a lot like himself and Shiro in downplaying and powering through injury or illness. He straightened up from his ready stance as the two of them easily took down the creature with their tandem shots. Keith did hesitate, but he stepped forward without a word. He wasn't a fan of killing unless absolutely necessary, but there was no reasoning with a wild animal, and no point in leaving it to suffer and die slowly. The large dagger in his hand glowed for a moment, expanding into a sword, and he braced himself, holding it up high to get enough weight behind the thrust. He brought it down hard just behind the skull, severing the spinal chord.

He yanked the blade free as he stood back up.

"Done."

Red, on the other hand, was very proud of their joint attack and how quickly the threat was dispatched. If she were able, she'd give Jay a hi-five. But hi-fiving a metal lion paw with razor claws probably wasn't a good idea...

Was it? Keith just took that comment for what it was, deciding not to answer as he shifted his blade back to dagger form.

Red swished her tail in response to the head patting. She definitely was good at killing things! She was a battle ship, after all. Designed for peacekeeping, yes, but that included being able to defend her Paladin. And sometimes that meant destroying the enemy.

After a moment, Keith did speak up again.

"You okay?" There was an odd, flat, coldness to Jason. Keith couldn't quite place it, but it did seem a little different from normal.
