[When the two of them had decided to explore the city's shopping center, they'd inexplicably found themselves in an area that specialized in weapons. Yuuri sighs, peering at the displays in the windows.]
Are you planning to pick something for yourself?
[He knows his friend's still training with Gladio, who's an expert in many weapons in his own right. The collapsible baton in his pocket feels heavy as Yuuri remembers how often he's been told by friends he should learn to use a better weapon. While he understands their concern, a part of Yuuri is still hesitant to work with anything else. He's not a fighter, even if he's seen the necessity in learning self defense.]
[Walking alongside Yuuri and eyeing the displays cautiously, Eichi brings a hand to his chin in thought.] I was told that something like a dagger would be fitting. Dual wielding, too... That seems a bit much. It may look cool, but does it really help to hold two at once? To be honest, I'm worried that even picking up one may result in me collapsing and landing on it. I'll sooner die on that blade than protect myself against anything, I think.
A dagger would be easy to carry around, at least? [Yuuri offers up, somewhat feebly. He feels slightly less like a fraud giving his opinions like this, when Eichi is very aware of how inexperienced he is in combat.]
And it wouldn't be any less dangerous than carrying around something bigger like a sword. [Maybe something non-lethal like his batons, Yuuri thinks, if Eichi's worried about hurting himself.] Did he give any other suggestions?
Mm, a few things, but largely he believes I should train to increase the strength of my body.
[He doesn't think it's going to work that way, though.] Enough about me, though. Aren't we here to look for something you might purchase? Have you found anything?
I don't know... [Even if they're inside the shop, obviously looking around now, Yuuri's uncertainty still nags at him.] I thought it was fine with just the baton, but I've heard a few times now that it isn't enough. I'm not a fighter, though...
[And he doesn't really want to be one. As he's leaning over to half-heartedly inspect a row of swords, the gemstone on one blinks at him. Yuuri pauses, then shakes his head. Okay. Now he's just seeing things. Maybe he over did it today?]
[Eichi happens to miss that blink, too busy eyeing another sword and keeping his hands to himself.]
But you've been very determined to learn more, haven't you, Yuuri? So you're a fighter in spirit already. Or, at the very least, a "defender." There are still some problematic ninjas here, after all.
Only because it seems to be necessary. [Yuuri sighs, but then freezes and whips his head around, completely missing the way the suspicious sword seems to rattle slightly before going quiet again.]
What. [It's surprising, how flat his voice seems to go.] They're here?
[Oh. Should he not have said that? There's plenty more he shouldn't say, he realizes, so he just brings a loosely closed fist to cover his mouth.]
Not the one who troubled you. There are two of them, though they don't recall a thing. Uchiha-kun and Houzuki-kun, if you know them. They were on the Eluvio, as well.
Oh. [Yuuri relaxes after a moment, the reassurance doing wonders to stave off what could have been ended up in a panic attack. Still, his heart's beating rapidly in his chest just from remembering Obito's attack.]
I don't think I recognize those names. You knew them on the ship?
A little. Uchiha-kun seemed suspicious about my involvement with the Fek, so invited me over. I remember seeing his eyes turn red and then I passed out. I don't recall what happened after that, but Houzuki-kun said that he and Victor both went to retrieve you, so Uchiha-kun must have helped.
[Now, he catches some sort of movement from something to the side and turns to glance at that particular sword. Did he imagine that??]
Wait... ["Uchiha-kun" was the one who had helped Viktor? Yuuri frowns.] You mean Sasuke?
[While his memories of that night are still hazy--he suspects the weird eye hypnosis thing has something to do with it--Yuuri does vaguely remember a second ninja there later. Yuuri looks over at Eichi, noticing he's a little distracted.]
What're looking at? Oh, did you see something you like?
[There's a tense atmosphere now, as if something is about to happen--except nothing does, as far as they can tell...though the "gem" glints oddly for a moment. Yuuri frowns at the sword.]
I thought there was something weird about this one earlier... [He leans down to get a better look at it.] It looks kind of ornate. Maybe it was just something put on display? [Yuuri can't imagine anyone using something so fancy in an actual battle. ]
[It's later in the day when Yuuri realizes he hasn't shaken off the haunted sword, like he'd originally thought. He feels a prickle of awareness at the back of his neck as he leaves the Community Center later in the day, his skate bag slung over one shoulder. Resisting the urge to look over his shoulder, Yuuri quickens his step instead, hoping to leave the pesky...thing behind.
He should've known it wouldn't be that easy. There's a swish sound as a shadow cuts right into the path ahead of him and Yuuri scrambles back with an undignified yelp, crashing into some unfortunate bystander behind him.]
I-I'm so sorry. [Yuuri stammers at the Professor as he quickly gets back to his feet, only to realize his glasses are missing for the second time that day. He whirls around and... somehow, he isn't surprised to see the sword thing, blurry in his vision, zoom away with a soft, hollow kind of laugh.] Oh... great.
[Well, he was on his way back to the university until a young man bumped into him. Well, more like crashing as he fell down on the ground in the process.
Once he sees him, he noticed that he was somehow in trouble as he stands up and approaches him.]
Are you okay, young man?
[Much to his surprise when he approached him, he sees a sword zoomed away, which he realized what it is.]
Well, I never expect a Honedge would appear in this city.
A what? [Yuuri blurts out, still frazzled by the whole encounter. He has no idea what set the thing off in the first place, but he wasn't expecting to spend a good part of the day being followed by it.
Without his glasses, the professor looks blurry to him, even when he squints.]
A Steel and Ghost-type Pokemon that is also known as a Sword Pokemon.
[Judging by how he squints his eyes when he saw the professor, he can guess that this young man has sight difficulties. Thankfully, he manages to find his glasses unharmed near his foot as he picks it up and offers it to him.]
And where are my manners? My name is Augustine Sycamore, I'm a Pokemon Professor. As for the Pokemon, they are magical creatures that used to live back in my world.
O-oh, thank you, Professor. [Yuuri smiles at him gratefully when he realizes what the professor's holding out to him, and defaults to the politer form of address immediately. The man's image sharpens once the glasses are back on his nose where they belong.] It's nice to meet you--I'm really sorry about running into you just now...
Wait. You said... pokemon? [Suddenly, he's pausing, frowning as he tries to recall why that sounds so familiar.] Oh! Is there one that looks like a fire horse?
I've seen one around the apartments before, that's all. [Now he's torn between confusion and curiosity.] He said there were a lot of different types of pokemon, but I didn't think they'd look that different.
[Yuuri turns, staring in the direction the Honedge had floated off.] So that's one type of Pokemon, too? [He's relieved. Honestly, "magical creature" is a huge step up from "haunted sword" like he'd originally thought.] I wonder what it wants... it's been following me the whole day.
To be honest, there are many Pokemon that are discovered every year to the point that we can't even count how many different kinds of Pokemon back home.
[Following him? Well, that's a strange behavior that the Honedge from earlier just got.]
Really? How did you encounter it in the first place then?
[That explains everything as he knew that no one should touch a Honedge's hilt.]
I think so. Honedge is known for their dislike of anyone who will touch their hilt like a real sword. You're just lucky you managed to escape from it before it can do anything else to you.
Oh no. [Yuuri clutches at his face now, looking horrified. He's definitely regretting even going into the shop now, especially when it sounds like it could get much worse. ]
Do you think it's going to come back? What should I do if it does?
[Luckily for Yuuri, Sycamore has some other options rather than running away.]
Just calm down for a second. You said you found the Honedge at the weapon shop, correct.
Since you only grabbed it by accident, I think we should try to reason with it when it returns and I hope that it might accept your apology for that small incident.
