To those outside of the Sons of the Bat, it would seem like Jason had suddenly started spending more time at home, less time out running around and night. And most importantly less bruised. It was early evening and the Easter celebration had died down. A fun morning of dry death jokes, and Jason doing his best to try and make sure the boys, Tim included, and Wally if he wanted, felt normal as a bat could pull off.

but it was evening and Jason was sitting out on the back steps already having finished the dishes and was generally bored out of his mind. He didn't want to tempt leaving or calling any of his friends so instead he sat on the steps looking at the night sky. Something felt different in the house to him, something besides the loss of his second job.

[ There's still some trepidation about this. Damian has his back, sure, but how would the other Bat . . . people feel about dropping this knowledge? It can't be fun and Jon is never sure whether it'll keep the balance or topple it.

But Jason said they were family. And Jon trusts them. ]

Hey. You busy?

[ Jason looked up from the step at Jon's voice and offered a tired smile. ]

Nah, beside's even if I was, I always have time for you, what's up Jon?

[ Jon shifts on his feet, fidgeting. ]

This is gonna sound weird but . . . so, Damian and I got some canisters. New memory stuff, y'know?

[ It didn't take bat-training to see Jon was nervous. But, Jason just nodded to keep things simple.]

Yeah, I've heard of those, what did you get?

[ Did he need to take a trip home and kick Manchester Black half to death? ]

I got . . . [ A beat as Jon takes a deep breath. ]

[ Give Jason a second. His eyes went wide. Just a second, while he processes that.]

[ Jon cringes slightly at Jason's expression. ]

It wasn't that bad! Honest! I'm not mad or sad or anything. Smad?

[ Jason raked a hand through his hair when Jon started to speak again.]

I get smad... what a good word, thanks. [ It was a good word for his state of being.]

Sit down with me, tell me everything. Tim's dead in my timeline, Jon. He burned up completely, no body... So, I'm just in a bit of shock here. Talk to me, tell me everything.

[ The idea of Tim as Batman, makes Jason worry, did it mean he and Dick were both dead? ]

[ Jon takes a seat subconsciously, twiddling his thumbs. He hates having this conversations. ]

Uhh, I don't know about that. But basically . . . there was another Tim Drake from the future? And he managed to come to our time to, uh, make sure I don't destroy it.

... Well, first thing's first, kiddo. That means that's not our Tim. Our Tim is dead, it's probably some backwater universe Tim. Our's died fighting the colony.

[ Jason wished in that moment he was better with people.]

And your not going to destroy the world. So f...orget that train of thought. [ He's trying not to curse in front of baby Supes.]

You said he was Batman, right? That's probably what happened.

[ Jon frowns, trying to follow that. ]

What do you mean?

I'm not sure it's a story you'd want to hear, but trust me, being Batman has a way of landing people in a special cell in Arkham Asylum.

[ Jason replied as he looked out at the stars again. ]

[ Jon frowns lightly. His father trusts Batman completely but Jon has been around them to know that things are always complicated between the Bat-Family. ]

I believe you.

Anyway, it's not . . . bad. I just thought you should know. And — maybe Tim too.

[ There were so many reasons Jason didn't openly talk about his life around Jon, mostly to try and protect him. He ran a hand through his hair again. ]

He tried to kill you, it's bad, but just remember that Tim and this Tim aren't the same. The Tim we live with is from a strange world, but he's nicer than our Tim back home. I'll threaten him for you though, if you want. I want you to feel safe here, this is your home after all before anyone else's this is yours. You have the final say in who stays, my job is to make sure your will is respected.

So, do you want me to go talk to him?

[ There's a long pause as Jon works it out before coming to a solid conclusion. ]

No. I mean. I should do it. It's not fair if I avoided it. To him or myself. And I know it's not him, it's just —

[ Jon waves his hands around, lackadaisical, as if to illustrate the weird nonchalance of people trying to kill him/brainwash him/etc ]

See, I knew you had a good head on your shoulders.

[ He reached out then playfully punching Jon's shoulder with no real force, a smile offered as he did so. ]

And no, trust me I get it. It's hard, I've been on both sides of that coin so, it's weird and only you will truly understand it.

It's not that hard anymore. I guess I'm getting used to it.

It sucks, but its part of life.

[ He replied with a nudge to Jon's shoulder.]

[ Jon nods. He gets that. He chose to be Superboy, chose to follow his father's footsteps. As difficult as it gets . . . Jon can't say he regrets any of it. ]

Yeah. And it's the life I picked.

And I for one, think your doing great with it.

[ And he will fight anyone who says otherwise. He looked over to Jon again and shrugged some.]

So, anything else on your mind, or would you like to help me figure out what to make tonight?

No, I think that's it.

[ He's going to leave out the stuff with Damian's mom because mom stuff is personal and Damian might not appreciate that. Besides, it didn't really impact or change much about their relationship. Jon always knew, to some degree, how messed up Damian's past was. ]

What are we making? Is it pizza?

[ Yeah, Jason didn't need to know Talia was alive. And given what Damian knows, it's likely he wont know for a long time. ]

Eh... I mean we can order Pizza, but I'm not good enough to make pizza without using the premade crusts and those taste like cardboard, so, lets order in. Pizza's always a win.

Sure.

[ Jon mulls something over. ]

Hey, Jason? You're good with guns right?

[ Jason looks up from his phone where he was already pulling up the app to order the pizza looking just a little confused.]

Good is an understatement, but sure. I'm good. Why do you ask?

[ He asks concerned since last he knew supers were bulletproof.]
