i. Aeacinos Ixocia - games, fights, and fish

(It's cruel to think of someone who had been friendly as an obstacle to overcome, but Noctis knows he has reservations that are hardly fair to Aeacinos. Likely, his appearance has caused him various amounts of trouble throughout his life. So, even if it's a learning curve, Noctis is going to learn to look past his appearance.

In time.

Step one starts today as he steps outside of the community house to look for a figure that could never be mistaken for someone else -- not someone in this world, anyway. He seems to lack a sword, a strange thing for the supposed spar. )

i. Edward Elric - i broke it, now fix it

(Had they belonged to anyone else, Noctis would have trashed the pan when he saw the blackened, mishappened surface, and he doesn't really place any sentimentality in items, at least not much. However, if he can get fixed, he would like to since they once belonged to the now gone Ignis.

Noctis approaches the repair shop, clad in all black, an outfit choice Ed may have once appreciated, though he has no flaming red coat to accent the clothes. Instead, his shirt and pants are as black as his hair and eyes.

Stepping inside, Noctis looks around.)

I'm looking for Ed.

iii. Yu Narukami - meeting the family

(As it turns out, they...live near one another. It feels strange that it had never come up in conversation, but when Noctis and Yu finally work out a schedule to meet the famed cats, it turns out Noctis has little distance to travel. Carrying a fish he'd had left over the day before, he tracks down the room number and knocks.

In all honesty, he's looked forward to meeting Yu's feline friends.

Does he ever go outside?

(With a bend of his knees, Noctis lowers his center of gravity so that he can be closer to Felix. Despite his somewhat-sullen nature, animals have always been a draw for Noctis. He's good with him, and they seem to enjoy his company, likely because of his willingness to spoil them. Now, he holds out his hand in offering, encouraging the small feline to come closer.)

If he likes the water, we can probably take him with us sometime.

Not really. We are up here on the sixth floor and he's too small to know how to come back. I plan on moving soon though, hopefully with space where he can play.

[Cat's purring was something Yu always loved and he always wanted a cat as a pet. At Dojima's he couldn't have one, and his parents and he move too much to keep one. He has a feeling he will be sticking around here for a while so...

Felix does come sniffing around and even gives a few licks because someone's hand smells like fish.]

He didn't protest when I bathed him, [Yu crouches as well,] so I suppose he won't mind.

(The stilled hand smoothly begins to pet Felix, relaxing at the feeling of silky soft fur. He doesn't openly coo or melt, but Noctis really does have a weak spot.)

You're moving? (His hand never stops, but Noctis looks up.) Where to? (Part of it is general curiosity, but Noctis has also thrown out the idea of moving as well so that his Chocobo would have a place to stay that's closer than the stable he currently uses.)

[Felix allows Noctis to pet him for a few moments before switching into the 'play' mode again, tapping his fingers with his paws and wanting to chase them.]

I have been looking at some places and I found a nice, cozy house near the Perimeter Guard. [He looks at the playful kitten, putting hands into his pockets.] It has a very small yard in the back but it should be enough for Felix to play.

(Just as easily, Noctis twists and turns his wrist so that his palm is always moving in an effort to keep Felix occupied.)

You like to fish so much, why don't you move someplace close to the water? When I find a new place, that's where I'm going to look. Maybe I should get a cat too.

[And he is- very thoroughly enjoying playing with Noct's hand.]

The place I chose is not too far away from the river. Maybe a ten-minute walk? [Yu chuckles-] You could! I bet the cants would love you. [If Felix is any indication. Oh, and if you feel weak gnawing on your hand that mostly feels like needles poking you- it's because your hand smells of fish. Sorry Noct.]

(He supposes Luna is his fiance now, but that's a long story, and he would rather not get into it right then, so he continues as he was.)

A friend back home has two dogs. They visit sometimes, but never for long. Yeah, maybe I should get one when I find my own place.

Really? Dogs are great too! Although I have to admit, I'm more of a cat guy.

[Dogs are loyal and awesome but nothing can replace the purring.]

I could help you out finding a place to move to. I already scoured empty houses and apartments so maybe we can find something for you.

You'd prefer a place near the River, right?

A typo? I've heard of no such thing

They're pretty nice.

(They carry messages back and forth, it's kind of amazing.)

So, you were looking that hard? I want a place that's close to the river, but with a pretty big yard. (He needs a stable, if possible, but he can always build one. Or have one built... It seems kind of hard to just build one out of nothing while possessing no skill.

Foregoing manners, Noctis sits in the floor and urges the cat into his lap.)

[That IS kind of amazing. Cats can't do that. Unless the messages are very small, on pieces of paper, rolled up and hidden in their collars.]

Haha, I don't think so? [Yu shrugs.] When I had a free day, I just walked around and checked places out. Some of the houses remained in my memory so I hope I can help you out.

[Yu looks lost in thought a bit, trying to remember if there's such house in Riverview-] There was one house, small and a bit old-fashioned but with really big, open yard behind. Maybe you could do some renovations on it if you like it?

[What manners? Yu is sitting down as well, watching Felix try to climb Noct's leg but tumbling back.]

(Renovations. Noctis isn't some posh prince, but it would be a lie to say he knows a lot of manual labor. That seems like something Gladio would handle well, but he hasn't been here for months now.

Still, it's probably worth looking.

Gloved hands catch Felix and try to hold him steady.)

I'll look. Do you remember where?

[Yu doesn't know much about renovations either, which is why he didn't get that house despite liking the location. Also, his new home he will be moving in is closer to his work so it all works out.]

Yes. It's not too far from Town's Central Park. I'll take you there when you have the time.

I could also lend you a hand with cleaning up. [Yu rubs back of his head.] And that's the extent of my abilities, haha.

(Noctis has lived on his own, and he's cleaned up after Ignis reached his boiling point, but that was general upkeep, which was way different from the type of thing needed for renovations. Maybe...he can try. But should he buy a home without being sure? He isn't rich anymore.)

Yeah, maybe, but it seems like a lot of work, and I've never fixed a house before. My old place was an apartment, and it was in good condition.

(Chocobos didn't do well in apartments, though.)

But I'll remember the offer.
