i. Aeacinos Ixocia - games, fights, and fish

(It's cruel to think of someone who had been friendly as an obstacle to overcome, but Noctis knows he has reservations that are hardly fair to Aeacinos. Likely, his appearance has caused him various amounts of trouble throughout his life. So, even if it's a learning curve, Noctis is going to learn to look past his appearance.

In time.

Step one starts today as he steps outside of the community house to look for a figure that could never be mistaken for someone else -- not someone in this world, anyway. He seems to lack a sword, a strange thing for the supposed spar. )

i. Edward Elric - i broke it, now fix it

(Had they belonged to anyone else, Noctis would have trashed the pan when he saw the blackened, mishappened surface, and he doesn't really place any sentimentality in items, at least not much. However, if he can get fixed, he would like to since they once belonged to the now gone Ignis.

Noctis approaches the repair shop, clad in all black, an outfit choice Ed may have once appreciated, though he has no flaming red coat to accent the clothes. Instead, his shirt and pants are as black as his hair and eyes.

Stepping inside, Noctis looks around.)

I'm looking for Ed.

iii. Yu Narukami - meeting the family

(As it turns out, they...live near one another. It feels strange that it had never come up in conversation, but when Noctis and Yu finally work out a schedule to meet the famed cats, it turns out Noctis has little distance to travel. Carrying a fish he'd had left over the day before, he tracks down the room number and knocks.

In all honesty, he's looked forward to meeting Yu's feline friends.

iii The famous Narukami cat

[The floor of the communal building was empty at this hour. Yu's working hours are rather strict and don't change unless he decides to extend them with training or spending time with new people.

But today, he agreed to meet up with Noctis at his place and he was really looking forward to it. The cat in question is currently running around, playing with the edge of the carpet and then disappearing in a flash in the sleeping quarters.

With a chuckle, he opens the door.]

Ah, Noctis! Welcome! Come on in!

[The place is kept in relatively clean. There are some cups of coffee at the coffee table in front of the TV, but the kitchen Noct walks into first is kept in order.

And that's orange flash running through the kitchen at the speed of light. Again.]

Hey.

(His first words aren't to Yuu, but rather to the orange bolt of lightning dashing through the room. He's careful not to trip over the feline as he walks further into the landing.)

Hey. (This time, Yu actually gets his own greeting.) This is him, huh? (He holds up the bagged fish.) I brought him some dinner. It's a smaller one that wouldn't have sold for too much.

Ah! Sorry about that. [Yu laughs a bit as Felix just rushes around their feet, then around chairs and again disappears from the sight.

He accepts the offered bag with a smile.]

Thanks a lot. He seriously enjoyed the fish we caught last time. [He opens the fridge and pulls out a plastic container marked with big red colors as "Felix" and cat doodle next to the name. He packs the fish and places it back in the fridge.]

He's been playful the entire morning, [Yu smiles as Felix comes back and "attacks" Yu's wriggling toes.]

Does he ever go outside?

(With a bend of his knees, Noctis lowers his center of gravity so that he can be closer to Felix. Despite his somewhat-sullen nature, animals have always been a draw for Noctis. He's good with him, and they seem to enjoy his company, likely because of his willingness to spoil them. Now, he holds out his hand in offering, encouraging the small feline to come closer.)

If he likes the water, we can probably take him with us sometime.

[wildlinks]

Not really. We are up here on the sixth floor and he's too small to know how to come back. I plan on moving soon though, hopefully with space where he can play.

[Cat's purring was something Yu always loved and he always wanted a cat as a pet. At Dojima's he couldn't have one, and his parents and he move too much to keep one. He has a feeling he will be sticking around here for a while so...

Felix does come sniffing around and even gives a few licks because someone's hand smells like fish.]

He didn't protest when I bathed him, [Yu crouches as well,] so I suppose he won't mind.

[brotrips]

(The stilled hand smoothly begins to pet Felix, relaxing at the feeling of silky soft fur. He doesn't openly coo or melt, but Noctis really does have a weak spot.)

You're moving? (His hand never stops, but Noctis looks up.) Where to? (Part of it is general curiosity, but Noctis has also thrown out the idea of moving as well so that his Chocobo would have a place to stay that's closer than the stable he currently uses.)

[Felix allows Noctis to pet him for a few moments before switching into the 'play' mode again, tapping his fingers with his paws and wanting to chase them.]

I have been looking at some places and I found a nice, cozy house near the Perimeter Guard. [He looks at the playful kitten, putting hands into his pockets.] It has a very small yard in the back but it should be enough for Felix to play.

ii.

[Edward is behind the counter of the poorly named General Store when Noctis arrives, going over some paperwork. He glances up at the sound of the door opening before offering a nod at the other's words. There isn't much to see when Noctis looks around, the shelves are mostly empty, as the 'store' is little more than a repair shop now despite the sign outside.]

Well, you've found him.

[Golden eyes take in Noctis as he steps around the counter, dressed in his own all black attire. Arms folding across his chest, Alphonse was always the better one at the customer service end of things.]

I take it you need something fixed.

[brotrips]

(Noctis notices their similar style but doesn't comment. It likely didn't mean the same thing for Ed as it does for Noctis.

Seemingly out of nowhere, he produces a pan with a burst of pixelated lights, much like calling upon a weapon.)

Yeah, this. It got left on too long, and the bottom's warped. (The prince spins the pan around for Ed to see. It's black and misshapen.) Can you fix it? All the pieces should be here.

[alchemyfreak]

[For Ed black was the easiest way to hide the oil stains from his automail, he didn't put much thought into the fact that Noctis was dressed similarly, he was hardly the first person Ed had come to know who dressed in all black. He does blink when Noctis pulls the pan seemingly out of nowhere, golden eyes squinting curiously for a moment.]

Some kind of magic..?

[As for the damage, he can already see what the problem is, but he motions for the other to set it down on the counter and get a better look.]

This should be an easy enough fix, sure.

[ooc: sorry I disappeared, I wound up unexpectedly extending my hiatus!]

(It's the royal color in Noctis' home and even if he isn't royalty here, not all traditions have to be abandoned.)

Yeah, it's something I can do from back at home. It's useful, even here.

(The prince places the pan on the counter and leans his weight against the structure as well.)

I need the burnt places gone, too.

Sounds like it.

[That also sounded like how he dismissed alchemy to most people who weren't familiar with it, just something he could do back home that's useful around here.]

Not a problem, this should be pretty easy.

[A job this small hardly seemed worth charging for, but they could talk about that after he fixed it. Examining the damage quickly Ed wasted no time clapping his hands together and transmuting the pan back to normal with a flash of blue light.]

There. Good as new, right?

[Ignis is waiting by the elevator as agreed. While he waits for Noct to arrive, he's puzzling out their talk in his head. Does the prince really not remember anything after the Regalia broke down? It seems unfathomable, but Noct also says Ignis was here before and he certainly has no memory of that.

There will be questions, and he's still figuring out how to answer some of them]

(Somehow, he was spared the horrible memories they would have had should he remember what the others did. When he shows, he doesn't seem particularly burdened, he isn't carrying the weight of a fallen kingdom on his shoulders.

Noctis can't help the twitch of his lips when it turns out to be Ignis, just as promised. He's been here a few months now, and he's had to adjust to really being alone without any support. It's been a rocky road.)

You really did come back, huh?

[coquere]

[Ignis notices the difference immediately. Normally he would delight in seeing Noct less burdened, but in this case it troubles him. Knowing what is to become of the prince will have to be a burden he silently bears. So he clasps a fist over his heart and bows]

Forgive me for any distress I caused in my absence, Your Highness. I'm happy to see you doing well.

[brotrips]

(Noctis could, should, tell him that he didn't have to talk to him like a prince, especially since his royal lineage means nothing here. Ignis isn't just someone who plays a role, he's become a friend, an ally. Noctis hasn't learned all the lessons he needs to learn yet, but being here alone did give him a new appreciation for those he left behind.

But it hasn't given him a way with words. Unable to say what he really wants, Noctis scratches at the back of his head in a gesture that makes his awkwardness a little too evident.

'Welcome back.' )

Yeah, it's been really weird without you guys. It's been a few months since you left.

(That didn't work out.)

I kept your stuff from before.

[coquere]

[typical Noctis response. Ignis smiles fondly, the look fading when he's told just how long the prince has been without him. Months. He was charged to look after Noct and he had been gone for months. On a logical level, he knows this is something he could not prevent. The coming and going from this land is not voluntary. Still, he feels the guilt of it, and the worry of all that Noct could've gone through and needed in his absence.

Ignis takes a breath and sets all that aside. He's here now]

What sort of "stuff"?

[brotrips]

(If he could, Noctis would have wanted to tell him that he's right in that the disappearance isn't Ignis' fault. Aside from that fact, nothing horrible has happened in those months. He's slowly adjusted, but it feels like there's so much more to go.

No, he did suppose he saw a very disturbing dead body.)

Come on.

(Noctis motions for Ignis to follow him inside.)

Gladio left it to me when he disappeared after you, but I know the cooking gear and tablet was yours. He left a black Chocobo too, but I have to keep it in a stable nearby.

[coquere]

[Ignis frowns at this. So he and Gladio were both here, but both had also disappeared. And as Noct hasn't mentioned Prompto, Ignis concludes that the fourth member of their party hadn't been here at all. Logically of course it's not really his fault that he left, or that the prince was alone, but the guilt is still there.

Luckily, their discussion is keeping his guilt from gnawing at him too severely. He smiles at the mention of cooking gear, wondering who had been doing that in his absence. And then nodded at the mention of the black Chocobo]

We rescued a black Chocobo chick during the course of our journey. I would very much like to see how it has grown.

[illusionistic]

[ Aeacinos is used to his appearance gaining him a lot of grief here. But people have slowly been warming up to his half snake body. But Aeacinos is always ready for a spar and he has the scars to prove it on his body. Fights, wars, and just friendly fighting are marked along his skin like a delicately mapped out history of his life.

Still when he finally makes his way down to the community housing he'll hold up a hand in greeting to Noctis. ]

Are you ready? We should go somewhere with less chance of causing damage.

[brotrips]

(Noctis doesn't seem very prepared, but he nods anyway and quickens his step to meet up with Aeacinos.)

Yeah, coming. We should have a lot of space outside of the wall. Don't forget, the loser has to pay for the rest of the day.

(If they manage to come back without too much battle damage, Noctis is going to teach him the wonderful world of video games, both multiplayer and competitive.)

I hope you brought your money.

[illusionistic]

[ Aeacinos will bark out a laugh, a rather wide and toothy grin on his features. ]

I enjoy your spirit and confidence. But let us not presume who the winner shall be, hm?

[ Aeacinos has a few tricks up his sleeve after all. ]

(While Noctis is genuinely confident, some of his comments are jokes. Of course, he knows this man may end up being a strong opponent.

Stepping out into the city, Noctis reaches his hands into the air and stretches his body. He's been fishing a lot lately, and while he loves it, it's resulted in a bit of stiffness.)

Are you so sure I shouldn't be that confident?

[illusionistic]

Hm? I am not sure about many things in this place, including you humans. I thought many of you were weak, when I visited Earth briefly. But it seems that is not the case here. It is a good surprise, being able to fight among strong warriors.

[ He'll smirk a little as he eyes Noctis. ] I am hoping that you prove to be one as well.

[brotrips]

(Noctis feels like he'll be full of surprises. He can feel his excitement building at the thought of a fun, competitive battle that would lead gaming and, eventually, fishing. Despite his apprehensions, their plan helps him relax.)

There's a lot of strong warriors around... I'm from a star called Eos, anyway. It sounds like it's probably the same kind of place. (Without pausing in his stride, Noctis turns his head to better face him while speaking.)
