a. winter rescue
[ Hana gears up to embark on a rescue operation as soon as the call to action goes out. She knows she can help if she's in her mech, either by carrying any injured (although capacity is limited on her mech that's more like a mobile suit of armor than a vehicle for transport) or, more importantly, by helping clear out paths that might be blocked from heavy snowfall and associated mishaps. It helps, too, that her mech is as bright pink as a mech can possibly be - so she can be a beacon for any who are lost, too.
An additional container is attached to her mech, too, carrying with her supplies like blankets and hand warmers that may be in immediate need for the lost cadets. At the gates that lead out from the Inner City out to its abandoned parts beyond the wall, Hana waits for the party to gather also wearing cold-weather gear, because her mech's cockpit isn't entirely enclosed. She just hopes this doesn't have her relapsing into the illness she'd just managed to kick. ]
Ready to go? Those poor kids are waiting for us, we have to get to them.
b. santa baby d.va
[ On the days leading up to the holidays (or at least, the holidays that she celebrates where she's from, like Christmas), Hana works hard on her streaming channel and on social media to publicize and announce a fundraising-slash-donation drive that she's decided to put on. Plenty of people have come and gone around here in the Quarantine, but not everyone has the luxury of being able to build such wonderful networks of support as someone like Hana has with the people around her - there are refugees from all over the place and not all of them fare as well.
So on the appointed day of her drive, Hana can be found out on one of the town squares around the city, with her ever-pink mech wrapped in lights and holding an open burlap sack already somewhat-full of things like toys and supplies, and D.Va herself is dressed for the festive mood. Her mech projects a message holographically, reading: HAPPY HOLID.VA DONATION DRIVE! as she's calling out to passersby: ]
Let's all remember how fortunate we are and give something to help people who aren't! Toys or books or anything else for the kids, or families, anything is appreciated! Thank you!
c. christmas gifts! (for close cr)
[ Finally, come Christmas-time, if you're rather close with Hana (see the list below!) chances are she'll have left a package at your doorstep at some point in the middle of the night - really taking this Santa D.Va thing seriously - for you to find on Christmas morning.
- Genji - a little cherry blossom bonsai tree and a new frame for his picture of him and Hanzo
- Gladio - a cup noodle pillow and his very own bundle of fancy soaps
- Shiro - a constellation quilt, which also an actual accurate star map for the part of space theyâre in, and a black beanie with kitty ears
- Keith - a red beanie with kitty ears (to match Shiroâs), and some paw mittens
- Jason - red motorcycle gloves and also a red hoodie because⌠get it hahaha
- Cisco - a buncha video games and a red dragon kigurumi
- Taako - a cake stand with bunnies and a unicorn kigurumi with a silver horn
- Magnus - a three wolf moon shirt
- Xârhun - a stylinâ red jacket and this book
- Shigeru - a new sketchbook
- Star-Lord - tickets to a local concert to take Star-Lady to
- Matsuno brothers - a cute clock for their new house and a âThis is Our Get Along Shirtâ shirt big enough for three entire whole-ass Matsuno-sized people
- Reaper - just a whole load of spicy, spicy kimchi
- Also all of them get an autographed polaroid picture of D.Va, you're welcome.
She doesn't expect anything in return (okay maybe she is, a little - or a lot), but she's certainly amenable to receiving messages of thanks via text or call or in person or however else. ]

Here's the other thing: the Ravagers, as much as they liked partying and celebrating everything, were pretty stingy on the gift-giving front. So Peter's pretty bad at gifting. He is, at least, a little more gracious about getting gifts – even if he's always a little startled to be enough of a blip on anyone's radar to warrant one, in spite of how highly he thinks of himself.
When he sees the little envelope at his doorstep, pulls out the tickets and the photo of the famous, renowned gamer, D.Va, he barks out a laugh (and has to immediately explain to Gamora that it's nothing, really. Just a funny joke he randomly thought of).
Later, when he has some time alone, he calls Hana. And whenever she picks up— ]
So, like, you're famous, right? [ Brightly, teasingly. ] How much could I reasonably get if I auction off this picture?
no subject
Okay, if somehow you ever ended up in the dimension I'm from? You'd probably earn at least a few thousand. Here, you should probably hold onto it for now, you'll get a better price from it later on!
[ And she says this with the utmost confidence that she will hit it big here, okay. Otherwise she might wither away. ]
So, did you like your present?
no subject
Gotcha.
[ But the act drops away quickly enough, even if she canât see it, Hana will probably be able to hear the way he smiles. ]
Yeah, youâre awesome. I definitely owe you.
[ —which is an admission that he, uh. Hasnât gotten Hana anything. Whoops. But itâs also a sort of promise that Hana will get a mini-Christmas in January, so thatâs something! ]
So is the second ticket for you, or—?
no subject
No, silly! It's for your girlfriend or whatever.
[ A beat, then: ]
Wait, you're still together right?
no subject
Yeah. About that.
[ It's... probably safe to say by now, right? Like, they already kind of kissed in the middle of a busy street, thanks to that stupid shit with the mistletoe, so— what's the harm?
Which is why Peter clears his throat a little awkwardly. ]
We, uh. Actually, like, just made it kind of official? So— technically, we're together now.
[ you know, three months after he had asked Hana for advice.
w h o o p s ]

Okay, then she needs to find a rebound date for him to take to the concert. (Taako is the first to come to mind, except because he's got a boyfriend now. Maybe Genji? Or Gladio? X'rhun?? Is Peter into older guys?? And good god, why doesn't she know, like, any women? She'd met this lady Bryn at Taako's party but she's pretty sure she's with Thor? Maybe - oh! Maybe -
that lady Gamora she knows???)
But then Peter goes on, and Hana's mild panic takes a turn right into... confusion. So it's not that he and Star-Lady have broken up, it's that they're technically together now.
... you know, three whole-ass months after he had asked Hana for advice. ]
... Are you serious? You're officially together now? It's been forever?
no subject
[ And he says it with an air of exasperation. ]
I mentioned it was complicated, right? Because, like, it was super complicated. And it's still kind of complicated. But, you know.
[ His helpless sort of shrug goes hidden, since this is a phone call. ]
We've been working on it. [ And his voice softens, warming with a small little smile when he glances over, spotting the blanket Gamora had picked up from the festival, folded neatly and draped over the back of the couch in their shared apartment. ] I think we're cool now.
no subject
But when his voice softens and warms, she can't help but smile, too. For a dude who has a call-sign like Star-Lord (which, okay, honestly? She thinks it's a really cool call-sign?) he sure seems a lot like a Dork-Lord. Or Star-Dork. Hmm... ]
Well! I'm glad it worked out. Better late than never, right? Took you long enough but now you guys can have a first official date together at the concert!
You're welcome.
no subject
Yeah, that's a good way of putting it.
What about you, then? Anything you want for Christmas?
[ A beat. ]
...Late-Christmas?
no subject
[ she says, very much in the way that says get me something you nerd ]
I dunno, maybe something for Pacchan?
no subject
Technically, thatâs a gift for your dog, not for you.
no subject
How about some music, then? I have a friend who keeps making reference to old school stuff and I can never get him. Wanna help me out?
no subject
He hums thoughtfully – and there's something earnest about the sound, for once; not one of those overblown things when he's pretending to think before offering the obvious answer.
But first— ]
Define "old school."
[ Because if he remembers right, Hana might actually be from, like, the future, relative to him. So for all Peter knows, "old school" could mean "early 2000s," which means he's at just as much of a loss as she is. ]
no subject
[ Honestly that's, like, almost a hundred years into the past for her, but in spite of appearances, Hana actually enjoys a lot of old stuff like that. ]
I'm from the year 2076, does that help put things into perspective?
no subject
Donkey Kong was old school, even for Peter. He remembers that guy adorning old, beat up machines in bowling alleys and rundown arcades (alas, his family couldn't afford an NES). But with the helpful inclusion of when she came from (and how weird is that, to specify a when instead of a where?), he nods a little. ]
You got any hints? Like, remember any of the stuff your friend references? Any kind of music you're already partial to?
no subject
[ God what even is like half the stuff Jason mentions to her? ]
Well, we watched Die Hard last night on Christmas Eve? I guess he's into rock and that kind of stuff, he drives around a motorcycle so I guess he has to stick to that edgy aesthetic. Personally, I like upbeat pop a lot more!
no subject
(It didnât work.) ]
Maybe youâd like Pat Benatar, then. And the Runaways. Oh, and Heart. And youâd probably like some stuff from the disco era—
[ He says all of this thoughtfully, like heâs not really expecting Hana to follow along. But at length, he nods a little to himself. ]
Okay. Got it. Iâll curate some stuff for you.
C
A box would be left outside of her house. A jacket and a dagger wrapped up in it. ]
no subject
Hana opened her present almost as soon as she found it outside their door. Patience, thy name was not Hana Song.
Soon after, she'd send him a selfie of her wearing the jacket, winking, and holding the knife (improperly, probably) with her other hand. ]
no subject
Your holding that wrong, want some lession's on how to kill a man with one of those? Beside's between the ribs. It really is the fastest way to a mans heart.
no subject
Done
LOL if i never date again bc you taught me how to handle a knife too well, I'll have you to thank for keeping the weaklings away
[ because honestly would Hana ever date someone who wasn't at least as badass as she was? nope. ]
Thanks for the presents, Jay :3 Merry Christmas! ♥
What are you doing for the holiday?
no subject
I'll teach you, and if weaklings wont get the hint I'll show you how to wire a taser into your clothes. I'm being serious btw.
Your welcome, Hana.
Mostly playing pool, why?
no subject
ok that sounds a lil extra tho. I still wanna be able to like give someone a hug??
asking bc i had a feeling you'd answer with something like that. are you at least planning on playing pool with someone?
no subject
It's pretty handy, and as long as you know how to you can hug people, I guess. Not really something I do often.
If I say yes, will you promise not to worry about it? I got gifts for Jon and Damian so there's that, It'll be their first christmas without their dads.
no subject
ok well now I'm gonna have to give you a hug next time I see you
I'm not that worried about you, but if you ever changed your mind just hit me up? I think I'm just gonna be at home with my dog too so. What'd you get for the little guys?
no subject
I'll make sure it's turned off.
Yeah, count on it. I gotta get back to work not. Later, Hana.
for damian
Jason's little brotherLil DDamian about her promise to let him come and see her mech. She lets Jason know about it, too, since the older Bat had mentioned dropping Damian off. In any case, the arrangements are made for Damian to come see her MEKA unit, which is currently parked below in the garage level of the apartment building she lives in. And when the appointed day and time come, she waits for him in the garage dressed in her flight suit and perched on one of the mech's cannon-wielding arms, swiping away at a holographic screen. She's actually rather looking forward to meeting Damian. Back when they'd shared memories (albeit unwillingly), she got to see a glimpse of what Jason's life was like before the Riverview Quarantine. She saw how he'd met that Batman dude, then saw the guys that Jason considered his brothers (even if he didn't actually say it like that) - and Damian was one of them. Hana doesn't have any siblings, herself, but if she did, she imagined it'd probably be a lot like what she witnessed when Jason and Damian were on the network. But... possibly less violent. Maybe? Hard to say. ]
*BUST THROUGH WALL COOLAID MAN STYLE* I AM HERE!
Damian can see the mech from the window and he is all but vibrating to get out of this damn car, right now! It's as magnificent as they said. Enjoy the smudged fingerprints on your window Todd, because until he gets out of this car he just isn't close enough.]
Bye.
[He barks out distractedly at the driver once the car stops and he can finally get out. He walks up eagerly to the mech, taking in the canons and futuristic looking materials.]
...The future's looking bright. [He whispers because this glorious creature is shining through his bleak outlook.]
bless your heart
(She isn't that much taller than him at a rather statuesque 5-foot-something.) ]
Nice to meet you too, Damian.

The small teen turns to her and gives a soft "Huh..." Though their first encounter was all done via text, the boy was a detective and well, he, of course, had started to build a profile of what the woman might look like just from texting and context.
He gives her a contemplative look.]
I imagined you taller. [But everything else was about right. Young, attractive he expected from the way Todd seemed to drool over her text and personable.]
But, yes, nice to meet you. [Right, manners.]
Your machine... [Words fail him as he looks back at it. It wasn't the Black lion but it was still a sight to behold.] What purpose does it serve? [He reaches a hand out, slightly hesitant to touch it, but in the end can't help himself and places his palm on the cool metal.]
no subject
Funny. I imagined you taller, too!
[ before she follows his gaze back to her mech. She's usually more protective about people touching her mech, but when she sees how carefully and hesitantly Damian reaches out, she decides not to deter him. He's just curious, and she doesn't blame him - this is state-of-the-art tech where she's from, after all. To his question, she clears her throat and gestures at one of the decals on top of it which reads beneath the MEKA logo: Mobile Exo-force of the Korean Army. ]
It's an armored mech for the military, specifically designed and engineered to combat dissenting omnic units from my world.
