The Yule celebration has gotten underway on the Winter Solstice and it promises to be a most interesting night. The Norse have gone all out with this affair to make sure it's going to be a success. First thing to be spotted is a bonfire, so big that you might want to be careful not to trip around it, because you'll fall right in. There's plenty of room for dancing too, if you feel like grooving to a beat that's a little more unusual than most.

The Yule celebration shares a lot of similarities with Christmas, so it's a good time for gift giving. There's little shoes on a table, mimicking the tradition where Odin would leave presents for good children by putting them in their shoes. Claim one as your own and maybe a friend will leave a gift inside one for you. Watch it though. Any grinches will be fed to the Yule Cat.

There's a table set up to the right of the bonfire with food, mostly of the hearty kind that the Norse seem to prefer, and of course, lots of alcohol. Please remember not to get into any drinking contests with the gods. They will observe no responsibility for what happens afterward.

There are also mushrooms for consumption, provided by everyone's favorite psychotic Viking, Ivar The Boneless. These ones are directly from his home world, which means they come with a variety of side effects. They have the ability to make a person hallucinate quite a bit. But they can also make people much more horny than usual. Lastly, there's the effect that hits some people in making them extremely violent. Sometimes one effect hits, sometimes more than one. In any case, anyone who consumes some is assured to have an...interesting time.

On a lighter note, there's mistletoe scattered around, hung from the trees and tent beams. Fun fact: the Vikings were the first one to use it for the tradition of kissing. Of course, they also believed it was a plant that was powerful enough to kill a god, so the kissing was ostensibly for protection.

At the height of the night, there will be an animal sacrifice done. A goat is slaughtered and the blood from it is gathered into a couple of bowls. If you'd really like to go all out like a Viking, paint your face in the still-warm blood, or drink a little bit of it. Otherwise, enjoy freshly seared chunks of goat as it bastes over the bonfire.

Have fun, drink, fight, and remember to make your ancestors proud!

( billy's own hand wraps around loki's waist, hooks a thumb into a belt loop to hold onto him without gripping on too tightly. his face turns to press a cheek against loki's shirt, leaning into him. )

I wouldn't know how to explain it. ( aside from the obvious things, which isn't what he meant, really. ) I may be biased, but you're definitely cuter.

( ah, which reminds him-- ) I kissed an alternative Loki's kid.

Funny, I described myself as "the cute one" and the backlash was immeasurable. Nice to finally have someone who will fight my adorable corner.

[ His brows fly up at the news of a child, born from one of the Loser Crew across the Multiverse. ]

What are they like?

You have a parade of animals that follow you basically wherever you go. ( disney princess loki laufeyson. ) I'd say that's pretty cute.

( which doesn't even go into how clingy loki is, how much he just likes being touched and touching. truly, one of the cutest things about this loki. )

They're cute. I asked which Loki was their mom, and they claimed you. ( a pause, lips pursing. ) Despite saying it wasn't you. Mouthy. A shapeshifter. Definitely more used to rampaging Lokis.

[ Let him be cool, he knows the lingo!! Speaking of touching his fingers slide into Billy's hair as they walk, remembering how he hummed earlier. ]

Oh, dear. I'll offer them fewer rampages and more cool magical items, would that work? I'd like to make a good impression, for once.

[wiccant]

( hairpets are always good and he's leaning into loki's hand, giving a low, pleased sound as he does his best to remember he's still walking, and staying on his feet is just as important as hairpets. )

I think Alex likes you already, but the less rampages and more cool magic items would work in your favor, I'd bet.

[ That's actually reassuring to hear, it feels like Billy is giving him a foot in the door with the child. ]

And what would work in my favour with cute witches, do you think: chai, chocolate, or mint?

[ He asks it as they roll up outside the coffee shop, still open at godsforsaken hours. Loki will be sure to tip them well. ]

( billy's always here to help in dealing with complicated family situations. this can't be any more hard than teddy's kree versus skrull family wars. and alex seems pretty great. )

Hmm. . right now? Chai. ( it's a little late for coffee, but still early enough in the night that he wants something with a decent amount of caffeine in it. when they get close, billy shifts his grip on loki, slides out from under his arm but does grab onto his hand instead. ) Straight home after, or do you have post-Yule party plans?

[ He doesn't get cold, per se, but he enjoys shivering when the heat of the indoors hits him, just to show he appreciates it. Little mortal things like that. Chai and a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, please. The poor baristas seem to have transformed into zombies a few hours prior, so he blanks them after that to tuck Billy's bangs behind an ear. ]

Post-party-party plans? Certainly. Letting this migraine abate as I sip the goodly sweetness of chocolate and yourself, preferably in pyjamas, in bed.

[ Oh. He should ... probably ask. Things. ]

Ah, if you want to stay in my room with me tonight, that is, instead of walking the endless corridor back to yours.

( he could go back to his room in the communal housing area, where he does keep his hair gel and pyjamas, soaps and stuff for later. a busy night of dancing with norsefolk and partying among asgardians has left him feeling more than a little sweaty, and definitely in need of a change of clothes but he supposes--that's not too hard, right?

billy can magic up some pyjamas even while like this. the answer takes him a minute--much less because he's contemplating how he wants to answer and more because he's thinking about clothes, but. ) Mm, that's fine.

( the hand holding onto loki's own raises, moves up his forearm. ) Did you leave Freyja at home?

[ Acting cool as Billy decides if the sleepover is happening, he nods in relief. ]

Yeah, I bothered her a little earlier but I sent her back to her tank. I think she was semi-hibernating. [ Idly adjusting that red hood. ] Why do you ask?

[wiccant]

For a snake, she is a very good babysitter. ( which still explains fuck all, but.

whatever. he raises both hands to grab onto the ones messing with his hood, tries to entangle his fingers with loki's own. ) But I guess it is past that time for snakes, huh.

[ikols]

[ This is Loki's Figuring Shit Out face, a squint with a curled lip. ]

You think she'd be spying on us? As the only adult in the room. [ Oh, boy, grand efforts are made into keeping his face straight. ] Billy, would you feel better about sleeping over if I moved Freyja's tank to the lounge for the night?

[ She'll be toasty with the hearth and a billion channels to surf. ]

( see now he's just imagining her sitting there in her tank with the remote, watching some horror movie full of snakes. strange homes home, sees a snake in her tank on the couch with a remote she's changing channels on with the end of her tail, shakes his head and walks away because it's just another day living with loki. .

billy can't help but laugh. ) No, it's fine. She already saw us make out on your bed once. If she was going to end me, she would have already. ( his tone lowers to a whisper, lips curled up into a smile. ) As long as she's not going around gossiping with all the other parselmouths.

As far as I know, she doesn't care about my bedmates when neither soul in my bed is scaly. You don't have a secret case of bad eczema, do you?

[ Snakemom don't give AF as long as snakes ain't involved. Loki drops a couple of notes in the tips jar as drinks are served and he and Billy leave, a smile on his lips when cheery hoots follow their heels out the door. ]

No scales on me. ( there's a comment on the tip of his tongue that--if there was, loki'd probably know about it. but that invites a few more comments he definitely doesn't want to get into in public. billy raises the chai to his lips, takes a sip as he watches loki.

smiles even wider around the cup. ) You're in a good mood.

[ikols]

[ What can he say to that? Chuckling, he halts their stride for a moment and cups Billy's cheek, ducking down to kiss the hint of chai off his lips; soft and light, noses brushing. ]

Perhaps because you make me happy.

[ It's a sweet thing to say yet he tries to make it sound obvious, just because. Billy has been missed tonight and Loki is so tired, so worn out to the bone, that he doesn't mind spilling a rare truth that owns all the clarity concealed from a hundred lies. ]

[wiccant]

( the kiss is nice, pleasant, and he's leaning in to return it, moving the hand holding his chai out to keep it from getting in the way. loki opens his mouth, speaks words billy definitely wasn't expecting out of him--and it gets a reaction out of him, face flushing a bright bright red even as he stays pressed close. )

You're a dork. ( head tilting up a bit, billy presses another soft kiss to loki's lips, places his hand over the other's own against his cheek to give it a light squeeze. ) But a really cute dork.

[ He doesn't know who he would be if he weren't Loki, but a dork sounds about right either way. His lips tingle with Billy's kiss so, to hide how he has to nibble them, he wraps his arm back around his witch to escort him home and stage-whispers in an ear to live up to his full potential. ]

I'm gonna cuddle you under those covers until you pop, just wait!

[wiccant]

( fingers tuck back into loki's beltloop when they start walking again, curling into it. the fog in his head's fading a little faster--but walking like this is nice, too. no need to ruin a perfectly good walk with teleporting, is there? especially not when he has a warm drink in one hand and loki in the other. )

I don't think you'd like the end result of that very much. Maybe you'd better stick to soft cuddles.

If that's your kink, so be it.

[ Gesturing with his drink. ]

The softest of touches! A lick of air across your arm! A breath of a whisper across your knee! Kisses only allowed for a single strand of hair at a time ... !

[wiccant]

I don't think you could handle that, either.

( sixty seconds was more than enough for him to pick up on a few cues from loki. and even--even without that, this loki specifically likes to touch, to have his hand held, to rub his face in others' hair, to hold onto people.

billy lets go of loki long enough to gesture to the door of the sanctum with his fingers, curling them in just as the door swings open. ) But you're more than welcome to try it.

I don't think it counts as a dare if you know I'll do it and you'll like it, too.

[ He lets go of Billy when they trot through the threshold of the house, rubbing snow out of his hair en route to his bedroom. Never before has he been so glad to be on the ground-floor, he isn't sure he could handle stairs right now. ]

You want to borrow a shirt? [ Just to sass him back, ] Not that I'm objecting to bodysuits in my bed.

Can't argue with that, I'd definitely enjoy soft cuddles.

( the hood to his cape gets thrown back before walking through the door, shaking off the snow that had gathered on top of it. galaxy sides definitely is not something he's wearing to bed, and wearing one of loki's shirts is an even worse idea honestly. )

It's fine, I've got it. ( the blue flickers around his hand once more, clothing shifting from the nice red-cloaked costume to a plain red t-shirt and black sweats just before they reach the room. eyes immediately go to a slumbering freyja, before he's making his way over to loki's bed. )

Alright for some ...

[ It's entirely his own fault that he's too shivery on the inside to hazard much more magic tonight, the mushrooms made him feel like everything he could be at once, condensed, and now as their effects wear off Loki wants to stay anchored as much as possible until his organs stop shaking. This mini earthquake under his skin is why he starts to slowly undress his armour by hand, hidden hooks allowing him to shrug off the scalemaile, greaves unbuckled, boots pulled off, shirt hiked over his head ...

All of this is usually done within seconds if he utilises magic. It's a pain doing it the mortal way.

He has the decency to turn away when he starts on his leather pants, at least, although Billy will somehow have to endure the sight of pale buns and long legs while Loki rustles through his messy chest-of-drawers for pyjamas. ]

I really need to wash this mess off my face, I may just do it in the kitchen. [ Hel to going all the way upstairs. ] Anything you want until morning or are you good with your chai?

( billy hasn't been subtle about the way he watches loki, and he certainly isn't now. both feet raise up onto the edge of the bed after he sits down, knees pressed to his chest and arms wrapped around them as he keeps eyes on loki, watches armor and scalemaile fall with very thinly veiled interest. it's not until loki reaches for his pants that he turns his head, instead looks towards freyja's tank, chai raised to his mouth as he tries very hard not to focus on loki out of the corners of his eye.

a hand raises to his own cheek where the dried, bloody lightning bolts sit, palm pressed against it. ) I'll get it. C'mere.

( look he has a nice wash cloth in hand and everything, legs falling off the bed as he sits up. where did it come from? who knows. he's still very careful to keep his head turned away because. maybe loki hasn't gotten clothes on yet and that's a little Too Much for him right now. )
