third time's the charm

warnings: none insofar. Probably drunken shenanigans, bad karaoke and possibly feels? We'll see.

So once upon a time (that time being, specifically, on the TDM about a month and a half ago,) Ichimatsu mentioned to Chibita that he'd missed his own birthday. Naturally, Chibita suggested that they have a belated party to make up for it. Now, he's making good on that idea. It just so happens that the festival and the Beach Cabins offered above happen to be a rather good opportunity. So he's managed to snag one of them this morning, and claimed it for the party later.

Said cabin is now moderately decorated. There's a couple simple happy birthday banners up, as well as a couple non-helium balloons scattered on the floor. Chibita's set up a bit of food and drink in the kitchen for people to come in and nosh on. The table has been taken over by an array of finger foods, mostly. Chips, dips, veggies, bacon-wrapped-dates, shrimp chips, gyoza, salted chicken wings, and various yakitori. Oh, and, of course, oden. Because if Chibita's preparing the party, there is absolutely going to be oden.

There is, also, a cake. Said cake is homemade and looks quite similar to the one in this photo. But don't worry: that stick of oden is made of fondant and moulding sugar. The cake has also been safely tucked away in the fridge for safekeeping.

Aside from things to eat, there's also plenty to drink. Nothing really too 'hard liquor'-ish, though. Beer, wine and cider, mostly, as well as mulled wine on the stove, because it's cold and that's a great drink for the holidays. And plenty of soda and other non-alcoholic entities, for those abstaining or too young.

Additionally, there's several different board games in the shared living space for people to play with. Scrabble, Taboo, Pictionary, and even mahjong, to name a few. So have a go at those. There is, unfortunately, a TV screen that's been hooked up to a Karaoke machine. So that is also an option, to be used for good or for evil. There's plenty of space to lounge and mingle to your fancy, both inside and out. There's a fire in the fire place, as well as a bonefire outside, supplied with the necessary ingredients for s'mores.

So, uh...help yourself? Maybe you know any of these guys and were invited. Maybe you just stumbled across the party on the beach and decided to join in. The post is your metaphorical Belated Birthday Oyster.

[There's a person you know in the kitchen, Osomatsu! In fact, it's that guy you were thinking about who put this all together. He's currently humming, rather pleased with himself as he finishes the last of the munchies, which happens to be the last of the gyoza, which he's bringing to the table now.

He pauses, however, as he spots Osomatsu--at which point he grins, widely.]

Hey, Osomatsu! 'Bout time ya got here!

[Osomatsu grins back at Chibita]

Hey! There he is, the man of the hour! [and he doesn't mean himself for once] This food looks great!

['Man of the hour,' huh? Chibita can't help the swell of pride at that, the tips of his ears and cheeks going red with the praise as he moves the last of the gyoza onto the plate on the table] Keh! It does look pretty good, doesn't it? [Chibita's chest puffs up a bit] I wasn't sure how many people'd come...but better t'have extra than not enough, right?

Don't worry, it won't go t'waste! [Osomatsu is pretty sure that even with three of them, they'll wolf down this food. it's free, and it's a party. consequences be damned] Thanks, Chibita!

[a thank-you from Osomatsu, even. his job is teaching him good manners at least]

[that....is entirely unexpected. And Chibita nearly drops the now-empty plate he was using to transfer the gyoza in surprise. He fumbles a little, but manages to catch it, staring at Osomatsu for a moment like he's grown another head] ...y-yeah. You're welcome.

[Osomatsu blinks a few times at that look, not sure what to make of it]

Is there... somethin' on my face? [he rubs his cheek just to make sure]

[it's about right now that Chibita realizes he's been staring, and he jerks ramrod straight] A-ah, no! [he shakes his head once as if to clear it, before rubbing the back of his neck] I just didn't expect that, s'all.

[didn't expect what, Osomatsu wants to ask... but then thinks better of it. he doesn't want to embarrass Chibita]

Well, make sure you take a break every once in a while, okay? You gotta enjoy the party, too!

[...what the hell. For a moment, Chibita doesn't answer, just folding his arms over his chest to study Osomatsu for a moment. That's...considerate. Surprisingly so, for Osomatsu. Usually those sextuplets are too wrapped up in their own problems to notice or care anything much about anyone else, except for a rare occasion. Where is this coming from? How much has Chibita missed in, what was it? Eight months? He's seen changes in all three of them, definitely--most more subtle than not, but...this is pretty overt. He's honestly more than a little surprised and not entirely sure what to make of it, but it is nice to be thanked. And told to take a break. It's almost like how he feels is actually important to someone, which is...not what he's used to. It sits warm somewhere behind his sternum, and Chibita can feel the tips of his ears redden a bit. All the same, he can't quite help the smile that spreads over his face]

Keh! Don't worry, ya idjit. I definitely will! [he gives Osomatsu a thumbs up, beaming]

[good! Osomatsu grins back at him, before going back to picking up more food]

So, aside from this, what other shit have you been up to since ya got here?

[odenson]

Eh, mostly gettin' the cart on its feet. [Chibita retrieves the empty plate he'd be using to transfer the gyoza, tucking it under an arm] Rebuildin' it has been kinda a hassle, but it's worth it! It's almost perfect n' back to its full glory! Not that that's stopped me from keepin' it open anyway. [he rubs a finger just under his nose, looking rather proud of himself]

[he's glad Chibita's settling in so well. Osomatsu has been having a tough time adjusting himself]

Right, right. It's good to have oden here. There's a place here that serves oden, but it's so gross! I'm pretty sure your cart'll blow it outta the water.

[odenson]

[lksdhfs WHAT IS ALL THIS FLATTERY part of him can't help but wonder what it is Osomatsu wants, as they usually only pile it on when they want something but....let's be honest, he's absolutely weak to it. He beams up at Osomatsu, proudly, even as he flushes with pride]

Yer damn right it will! Keh! S'bout time you idjits had some proper oden around here, eh? [He winks at Osomatsu, conspiratorial.] I gotcha covered. Though I'm still figurin' out where to set up shop. I used t'have it in the same place every night, but I was thinkin' since the city's big enough, I could move it around more than I used to.

[relieable]

Oh, really? That'd be a lot of work. [but Chibita would probably get better business that way] Though, if ya made it big, you'd get people who'd follow your cart anywhere, huh?

[odenson]

[he considers that] That'd be nice! [he shrugs a shoulder] Most people don' know about my cart yet, though, but once they all do, they'll come to me for sure. But until then, I gotta take it to them.

Besides, I ain't a stranger to workin' hard.

I guess that's true. [hmmm!] Well, good luck with that! You know we'll come visit you all the time, especially now that th'weather's cold! [they even have money now!]
