third time's the charm
who: The NEETs, Chibita, anyone who was invited or wants to stumble across the party
what: A Belated Bday party for the NEETS
when: Afternoon-Evening, Dec 10th
where: On the beach in one of those convenient cabins mentioned in the mingle log
warnings: none insofar. Probably drunken shenanigans, bad karaoke and possibly feels? We'll see.
So once upon a time (that time being, specifically, on the TDM about a month and a half ago,) Ichimatsu mentioned to Chibita that he'd missed his own birthday. Naturally, Chibita suggested that they have a belated party to make up for it. Now, he's making good on that idea. It just so happens that the festival and the Beach Cabins offered above happen to be a rather good opportunity. So he's managed to snag one of them this morning, and claimed it for the party later.
Said cabin is now moderately decorated. There's a couple simple happy birthday banners up, as well as a couple non-helium balloons scattered on the floor. Chibita's set up a bit of food and drink in the kitchen for people to come in and nosh on. The table has been taken over by an array of finger foods, mostly. Chips, dips, veggies, bacon-wrapped-dates, shrimp chips, gyoza, salted chicken wings, and various yakitori. Oh, and, of course, oden. Because if Chibita's preparing the party, there is absolutely going to be oden.
There is, also, a cake. Said cake is homemade and looks quite similar to the one in this photo. But don't worry: that stick of oden is made of fondant and moulding sugar. The cake has also been safely tucked away in the fridge for safekeeping.
Aside from things to eat, there's also plenty to drink. Nothing really too 'hard liquor'-ish, though. Beer, wine and cider, mostly, as well as mulled wine on the stove, because it's cold and that's a great drink for the holidays. And plenty of soda and other non-alcoholic entities, for those abstaining or too young.
Additionally, there's several different board games in the shared living space for people to play with. Scrabble, Taboo, Pictionary, and even mahjong, to name a few. So have a go at those. There is, unfortunately, a TV screen that's been hooked up to a Karaoke machine. So that is also an option, to be used for good or for evil. There's plenty of space to lounge and mingle to your fancy, both inside and out. There's a fire in the fire place, as well as a bonefire outside, supplied with the necessary ingredients for s'mores.
So, uh...help yourself? Maybe you know any of these guys and were invited. Maybe you just stumbled across the party on the beach and decided to join in. The post is your metaphorical Belated Birthday Oyster.

Presents
undeservingboys, you can leave them here.]For Karamatsu
For you!
[ He smiles, but he's hanging around apparently because he seems perfectly comfortable with draping himself on Karamatsu and perching his chin on his shoulder. It's an innocent, but rare display of affection coming from Aoba. ]
And this, because I couldn't choose.
[ Aoba lifts a closed fist before Karamatsu, waiting for him to hold out his hand. If he does, he'll drop a guitar pick into it. ]
EYEZOOM
...Eh? Ah?
[ He's startled by the sudden attention since Aoba sneaked up on him, but he's appreciative of the gifts. ]
Ah, wow! Is it for me?
[ yeah you dummy who else would it be for? ]

For Osomatsu, Karamatsu and Ichimatsu
Karamatsu's are made out of a sparkly blue yarn.
Osomatsu's are made out of a deep, wine-red yarn.
Ichimatsu's mare made mostly out of a violet yarn, but on the palm, he managed to knit in what looks like the pads of a cat's paw in a cream white.
All of the gloves are made of a very warm yarn, and each have a small little stick of oden, no bigger than a couple centimeters, stitched onto the cuff.
He'll give them to each of them as he sees them, as the party gets started. They're wrapped simply in newspaper.]
I'M DYING
[Being nearly immediately gifted with a parcel wrapped in newspaper didn't help, and he's sprout his cat ears and tail as soon as Chibita presents him with it. He looks from the parcel to Chibita and back several times before gently squeezing the newspaper and frowning.]
It's not like it's actually our birthday, you didn't have to get me anything...
[In Ichimatsu speak, that's a pretty solid thank you, really. When he opens it, he catches himself petting the gloves immediately, and it takes him a moment to turn them over and see the cat's paw in the palm. Holy shit, Chibita how are you so perfect. He pulls them on even though it's not quite cold enough for them yet, and there's the slightest of smiles on his face as he wiggles his fingers staring at the knitted toe beans.]

For Osomatsu, Karamatsu and Ichimatsu
He gives them a selection of DVDs. Ivar's become particularly fond of movies that by modern day standards would be considered "old" during his time here. So the trio are getting True Grit, Casablanca, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Them!, Fantasia, and The Searchers. He briefly considers giving them an uneven number because Ivar likes to watch the world burn, but finally decides against it. He figures they can divide the movies up as they like.]

Calling out towards the cabin, he practically light up. Karamatsu adored movies. That's why he was in the drama club in high school! ]

Chibita | ota - will match format
[Chibita's been in and out of the kitchen most of the day. He doesn't mind at all, really. In fact, he rather enjoys it. Once in a while, that is. Cooking is also his regular job, so he doesn't want to cook this much every day. But it's a special occasion, so it's fine. He's just finishing putting the last of the food on the table at the moment, before stepping back and resting his hands on his hips in pride as he surveys his work. Yes. It does look pretty great. Good job, Chibita.
He mentally pats himself on the back, before moving to head into the kitchen, hoping to pull open the refrigerator and check and make sure that nothing has happened to the cake.]
2 - Hanging out
[Now that everything is prepared and set up and set out and he has nothing more to worry about, Chibita has decided that it's time for a well deserved break. In fact, he's settled himself on one of the pillows near the fireplace with a beer and a couple sticks of oden on a plate. He huffs out a small sigh as he settles, pleased with himself, before setting his beer to the side and moving to pick up one of those sticks of oden. He chews on the konjac a little thoughtfully as he stares into the fire, contemplative for a moment]
3- outside
[having a need for fresh air, Chibita's bundled himself up and wandered out to the bonfire, where he's successfully skewered a marshmallow and is now cautiously roasting it with narrow-eyed concentration. He seems very fixated on his task, the tip of his tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth as he slowly turns his stick, trying to get an even brown toast on that marshmallow.]

Lot of effort for something that will disappear in one bite.

Tch! Maybe one bite for you! I know how t'savor these kinds 'a things. [Chibita, that's not that impressive of a skill]
Osomatsu Matsuno | ota
[did Chibita really do all of this himself? that's what Osomatsu is thinking when he wanders into the cabin. there are decorations and food, and he's... impressed. he's shocked that one person put together a whole party. for them, the world's trashiest losers.
he doesn't linger on those thoughts for long, because it's a party, dammit! he's going to enjoy himself! even though their birthday was months ago. not like Osomatsu's going to say no to more presents.
he's getting food first, at the snack table, looking around for people he knows]
II) festivities
[iiiiiit's karaoke time! Osomatsu's not a great singer. he can carry a tune... sort of. but he makes up for his lack of musical skill with charisma! he knows how to get a group moving, and he picks songs that are crowd-pleasers so that he's not screaming into the microphone all by himself.
what do you want to sing? or do you just want to watch him? he's really getting into it!]
III) relaxation
[after a while of karaoke, Osomatsu just wants to lounge around. his throat is tired, so he's sipping on warm cider while he stretches across a couch. this has been a lot of fun, even though there were only three Matsunos here. he's still enjoying himself]
IV) wildcard
[have a different prompt? go ahead and give it to me! to plot, just send a message to
I
He pauses, however, as he spots Osomatsu--at which point he grins, widely.]

Oh, hey, that's a good idea! [he grins] Our true birthday's actually in May, but I guess Chibita wanted us to celebrate it since Ichimatsu missed it.

[Ivar says bossily, coming over, and shifting fluidly from his wheelchair to the edge of the couch Osomatsu's on. He shifts his legs around with his hands until they're in a comfortable position for the Viking.]

Ivar "The Boneless" Ragnarsson | OTA
[So Ivar got invited to a party. Even though he's only met Osomatsu, he figures now is as good a time as any to see all three of them. Frankly, he's never seen sextuplets before, and even if there's only three of them, they're the proverbial dancing bear for Ivar's amusement. Isn't that what everyone else in the world is for?
But he's not a godless barbarian, no matter what the English warrior priests of home like to say, so he's got his manners, at least for the first part of the night. He spends his time sampling the food and drink. This is the proper way to keep a Viking from stabbing anyone at a function: make sure there's plenty of things he's never tried before and plenty of liquor to keep him feeling fuzzy inside.]
B. It's All Fun and Games Until...
[Ivar eventually wanders over to where the games are at. He takes a look through them, trying to find one that doesn't involve too much reading. Mahjong seems interesting, though he'll need to have the rules explained to him. He also glances through for his favorite game. Sure enough, there's a chessboard mixed in there with all the other game boards. If anyone fancies putting their wits to the test, Ivar will happily engage any takers.
....And there's karaoke. Oho. Ivar loves karaoke. Not singing, oh no, that's for people with more alcohol in their system then sense. No, Ivar loves to heckle those who get up to sing. So he will be trolling any unfortunate souls who get up, as well as trying to convince people to get up there so that he can continue to make fun of them.]
C. Want S'more?
[Eventually, he wanders outside, and warms himself by the fire. Though he never bothers explaining, one of the reasons Ivar is so bad-tempered and irritable all the time is that he's in constant pain. It's not so bad during other months, but during winter, his legs ache something terrible. The heat helps soothe his poorly-healed bones.
While he's there, he might as well have a s'more. He hasn't gone this long in the Quarantine without finding out about this delectable dessert, so he helps himself, letting the marshmallow get caught on fire, so that the outside is charred black, and the inside properly gooey.]

Ichimatsu Matsuno 🐾 OTA
[Ichimatsu was not a social guy, and being one of three as opposed to one of six seemed only to amplify that, perhaps especially under the circumstance of having a party thrown one-third in his honor. He knows he can't skip out on the event regardless, but he's certainly not about to actively mingle and seek people out. For the most part, throughout the party he can be found lingering in quieter spaces-- that is, typically away from anything either of his brothers do to attract attention. Sometimes but not always in his arms or trailing at his heels is a weird cat, and the fourth born frequently ducks down to pet him, especially in the case that someone seems to notice him.]
🐾 Chicken Wings
[Ichimatsu loved chicken wings. Absolutely loved them. So while he was otherwise grazing the snack tables on and off throughout the evening, anytime he is seen with any kind of food there is at least one chicken wing present. Habitually, he would put two or three on a plate and scoot somewhere nearby and sit crouched against a wall using his knees as a table and chew the meat off the bones, only to pick the tiny amount remaining off with his fingers and feed it to his cat.]
[He grazes in this way for most of the night, eating a few small things approximately every hour or so, and feeding bits of it to the cat at his heels.]
🐾 Drunken Disasters
[There were a lot of reasons Ichimatsu didn't typically drink. At home, he never had any money, so there weren't many places he could even get away with it. He had an absolutely abysmal tolerance. But the biggest, and probably most important reason he was selective about the times he would ingest spirits was... Well, they made him quite spirited. He was, as mentioned, not a social or especially friendly guy, but give him two beers and he got loose and chatty. He doesn't know a whole hell of a lot of people at this party, so even with a few beers in his belly he's not quite bold enough to just strike up conversation with a stranger, but far enough into the party he can be found in any variety of places, indoors or out, a half-finished beer in one hand and a dopey smile on his face. That alone should tell anyone that's met him before that something is different, given how infrequently he smiles long enough for the expression to be noticed unless he's pitching Karamatsu off a roof.]
[If he knows you, however, after three of those beers he'll be finding his way through the small crowd of people to you, silent until a quiet chuckle directly precedes him draping an arm over your shoulders. Or, possibly just your arm, if you're someone gargantuanly tall like fucking Reaper. He's wearing a pair of purple knitted gloves given to him by Chibita, and makes a very specific point of sticking one hand out and wiggling his fingers.]
Lookit these gloves, man. They're so soft. [He is so drunk.]
🐾 drunk ichimats
Well.
At the very least he won't reach down to swat the guy off. After all, he'd shown up because it was some sort of impromptu party for the set of identical brats who were here, so...]
