[He's actually completely ignoring all of those warnings and the lecturing, because he'd rather get to his own point.] There was a nurse on the Eluvio who had taken in the job that my family doctor holds. That is, holding a check up for me each month to make sure my health stays under control.

Would you be willing to do that for me? My condition can worsen or ease up depending on the season and a number of other factors, so it's better if I have one person who's aware of it.

I'm a doctor. It's my job to care for a patient. Like their attitude or not. But if you go out and land yourself back in here repeatedly with no regard, you can see another doctor. Till then, I'll deal with it.

[He coughs a couple of times, watching as the window is closed. Ah, it really is like a prison.]

You know, I'll wind up in the hospital regardless of whether or not I push myself. There are times when even walking is too much. You can't expect me not to walk, can you?

It's not a matter of 'if' or even 'when' you wind up here. It's 'how' you wind up here. There is a difference between walkin' and havin' this happen and runnin' about like a chicken with your head cut off.

[Now he's being sassy. Hm. But that's ruined by a little coughing fit.]

[His lips press together in a think line of irritated disappointment before he just sighs. Moving over to the kid, he moved in behind him and carefully worked out the knots in his shoulders from all the coughing with precise movements before finally resting his palm on his back to just feel the patterns of Eichi's breathing.

Breathing out slowly himself, he rolled the whole situation over in his mind before trying to pick his words carefully.]

Stop tryin' so hard to be defiant. You're wastin' your air on it, that's for damn sure. Just please try to realize I'm not tryin' to hurt you or take your life away. I'd rather be of help. I get the notion you've never really tried to see it from a doctor's point of view. Though... most people don't.

Just try. S'all I ask. And save the smart assery for when it's needed. [Squeezing his shoulder lightly, he pulled away and moved to the door.] Since my presence isn't so wanted, I'll show myself out.

[Oh. His coughing eases up a little bit now, and he's left staring after the doctor as he pulls away. From his perspective? It's true that there's always two sides, and maybe he's always been too focused on his own. That at least gets him quiet for a moment.]

Mm, you can rest easy that I won't scale down the building. If we could avoid any IVs this time, then I'll behave extra well for you, doctor. ...Thank you.

[Pausing in the door, he looks back at Eichi and smiles just a little at him.]

If you sleep today, I'll personally release you in the mornin'. [Pausing, he frowns a little at himself then turns to look at him. He can't help but offer even if he doesn't think Eichi will take him up on it.] I need to finish my rounds, but I think I can scare up a deck of cards or somethin', if you want to play a game before I go home. I know hospitals are pretty borin' for the patient.

I'd like that, actually. Normally I would be able to watch videos of idols from back home, but since this place lacks something like that other than myself, I should try something new and play a game. Cards would work just fine. ♪

[Tomorrow morning... That's good enough, considering his condition. He'll take it and sleep the day away.]

[It wasn't the 'wisest' choice he could have made... but he felt like it was the best one for now. If you can't make some sort of connection with a patient you may as well not even try. And well... he didn't like the lack of hope anyway.

Giving him a slight smile, he ducks out of the room and gets back to work so he can keep that promise.]
