A new set of pets; open

[ Shigeru was never one to really keep pets, his job never allowed for such things, and besides pets back home weren’t exactly cute or cuddle like some of the ones he’s seen here. Dogs and cats were cute but Shigeru has his eye on something else…

So during the harvest festivals round up of strange and normal critters Shigeru will find himself particularly drawn to what appears to be a snake with…eight legs?! Shigeru looks totally in love with it though as he lets the snake…spider crawl up his arm and wrap around his neck like a scarf. He might laugh a little as the things tongue tickles his cheek before petting it some more as he moves on to what appears to be a tortoise of some kind. But despite its looks it’s still not as freaky as the spider snake, which will stare at whoever runs into Shigeru, but it'll just tilt its head and flick its tongue in and out before it looks away. He’ll probably adopt both of them by the end of the day and you can see him walking happily with his questionably "cute" pets in tow. ]

A question for the masses

I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while now. But…would anyone be interested in learning sign language? Or not even that but any other language from different worlds. I think it would a nice way to bond and to learn more about each other if we had a meeting once every week to do just that.

[ And, you know, it would help him have an easier time of communicating. ]

If enough people want to maybe we can meet in the library and have a meeting there!

A book to test wills; open

[ The book he had taken home has long since been left on the counter top in his kitchen. He had been to library various times and to no avail he came home empty hand each time. So he had put it out of his mind and yet…the paranoia and growing anger within him didn’t abate even a little. He certainly woke up grumpy today and anyone who encounters him today will definitely get some of it. He’ll be going about his usual day, albeit a bit more on edge than usual. He’s a bit jittery than usual and people can definitely notice that. Anyone who sneaks up on him or startles him in anyway will get an uncharacteristic glare from him however. But more importantly if you get a glimpse of his drawing pad there’s a strange symbol drawn multiple times in his pad. Along with it is a strange, what appears to be language, scribbled around the paper as well. ]

Closed to Dodger;

[ He never really knows where to find the other man. Often he’ll just send a text to him to make sure he’s okay so that’s what he’ll go with for now. ]

Is everything okay today? Do you…want to go out somewhere?

[ Going on a nice date might help him relax a little at least.. ]

Closed to Genji;

I wanted to know if you wanted to stop by? Maybe we could practice some sign language if you’d like?

[ An innocent enough text. Of course when Genji gets there it’ll be a different story to how Shigeru acts. But for now he’s decidedly calm and he’s been missing the other’s company, so maybe Genji’s presence can get him to relax...even if just for a little while. ]

Closed to Reaper;

I was wondering if you wanted to meet for...a first examination? We could also get started on the healing process too if you'd like!

[ He's not sure how willing Reaper will be to it. So maybe for now just a preliminary examine would be good. ]

[ Shigeru finds weird things oddly cute. It's one of his unique traits that he doesn't often let people see. Still the snake will writhe a little around Shigeru's neck as the tortoise lets out a small huff of acknowledgement. They're both listening with rapt attention, along with eyeing Mrimfaxi curiously. ]

Hrimfaxi? Does that mean something?

[Ivar leans over the side of his wheelchair, holding out his hand to entice the tortoise to come closer to him. He wonders if it will feel more like a plant or an animal, considering that it appears to have a whole ecosystem on its back.]

It means 'rime mane'. It was a theme name to go along with Skinfaxi, but I think it fits her quite well.

[The white spikiness of her mane fits the name. She takes a few steps forward, staring up at Shigeru with her ice-blue eyes, so close to the same shade as Ivar's own.]

Rime mane? It's a pretty name and it certainly goes well with her.

I'm sure your daughter must like her a lot too! [ he smiles as he holds out a tentatively to pet her if she allows it. ]

Winter seems to like animals. Perhaps a little too much with how her powers work.

[There had been some interesting incidents regarding the insects that had occasionally flown into her room. Ivar didn't mind those, but he'd been teaching her that the Pokemon were pets, not a potential source of life force.

Hrimfaxi stands stiff-legged for a moment, looking to Ivar for guidance. She asks once in low tone, 'Blitzle? He encourages his Pokemon with a smile.]

It's alright. He's good. He won't hurt me. [With that reassurance, Hrimfaxi allows Shigeru to pet her, though he might experience a feeling similar to a static shock on first contact.]

[ Shigeru gives him a curious tilt of the head at that. ]

Her powers?

[ Shigeru will also give a reassuring smile towards the pokemon before he's allowed to do so. He might startle a little at the sudden charge, although not painful, it was still surprising. But he huffs out a laugh before he pulls away. ]

That's amazing that she's able to create electricity like that.

She's what's called a healer in her mother's world. She can absorb the life force of anything living and put it into someone else to heal them.

[Ivar sometimes feels like he's in over his head when it comes to dealing with a child with powers. But he does his best and that's all he can hope for.

Hrimfaxi puffs her chest out proudly at the words. Though it may not seem like it, she can understand everything that the people around here say.]

She's created entire electric storms before. She did it once to someone to save my life. I guess ever since then she thinks she needs to protect me.

So she's a healer too? My powers are...not like that but I can repair and heal almost anything. I've remade limbs for people before as well. But...I don't need to use the life force of something else to do it.

[ That is pretty interesting though. ]

That's amazing. Almost like magic then.

That's good to hear.

[Ivar finds the words heartening. He feels justified when he argued with Letha that she wasn't going to be a little monster. After all, Shigeru was probably one of the nicest people in the Quarantine, and he wasn't using his powers in some terrible way.]

Maybe she can learn from you how to use her powers when she gets older. I know I'm not going to be able to help her much in that aspect.

[ Shigeru looks surprised at that but his expression softens into something genuine and happy. ]

I'd love to help with that! Our powers are a bit different but I think having her know and learn from people with similar powers would be really good for her.

Good. No better place for her to learn than here in the Quarantine. Here, she's surrounded by all sorts of different people.

[Much as Ivar misses his home, he knows it would be a lot different for his strange little daughter to be growing up surrounded by a bunch of superstitious Vikings.]
