who: Edward Elric and Anyone Interested
what: Memory Share Event, First Person in the post, Dreamscape/Network in the comments
when: October 9th-23rd
where: Around the city for First Person, Dreamscapes and Network for the rest.
warnings: Individual Warnings Below
Notes: I've included some scenes that I have on Youtube for unrelated reasons if anyone wants those.
Characters may choose to contact Ed, bring it up next time they see him, or never mention it and just have that insight on a moment in his life without ever telling him they know. That's entirely up to player discretion.
(If you would like to use a scene from '03 that's not listed here or the subtitled version, I'm fine with that as well! Just let me know which scene so that I'm aware.)
1. Reunion of the Fallen (Short Reaction)
cw: assault
This can be broken down any way you'd like through the month but it might start with seeing the rock go flying and slam the first guy in the face out of nowhere.
The next flash is could be the second guy demanding, "who the hell are you?" This scene would be dark, as Ed's eyes are closed. You can't feel tossing the rock in your hand, but you're aware of the movements.
Third flash, you're speaking but it's Ed's voice. The scene is still black. "Come on, guys. A band of thugs in the forest, that's so cliché."
The same voice from before, "What was that short stuff?" In an instant you're up, kicking this guy straight in the face with the sole of your boot.
His group of friends descend to attack, the girl they were bothering previously already forgotten. Whether or not your character sees the off-screen pummeling is up to you and may also be a separate fourth vision at a later time.
2.Night of the Chimera's Cry (Faint)
cw: body horror, physical violence, body post murder, dark themes, children present
This one is very brief. There's a child in an alley crying out for his mother, military all around. Flashes may come in single second shots, broken up through the day or weeks, everything happens very fast.
"That makes five."
"Hasn't investigations found anything, yet?"
"Don't blame us."
One woman tries to remove the child from the cloth covered corpse in the alley, but he holds on. When she picks him up, he pulls the cloth with him, crying for his mother and screaming "No!" while revealing the body.
She's on her back, arms bent and covered in blood. You feel yourself gasp, and suddenly there are flashes of other memories. A distorted upside down face followed by a happy woman in a purple dress, smiling, sitting at a table, and then lying on the floor. The distorted image returns and you can see it struggling to breathe before everything goes dark.
In your mind you might feel yourself sinking to the ground as someone behind you shouts, "Ed! Pick him up!"
"Sir!" Then silence.
3. Hohenheim of Light (Father Issues)
cw: assault
From a distance there's a man and a woman sitting at a table on a porch of a large yellow house. The first flash may just be a visual of them, but as the scenes grow longer and more clear through the month you'll be able to piece together the conversation that's happening. Some characters may notice a resemblance between the man at the table and Ed.
"A long time ago I saw an eagle with wings as black as obsidian, your hair is the exact same color. I never thought I'd see it again. Thank you, for bringing such a beautiful memory back to me."
The woman at the table is blushing at the attention, "And thank you. What a lovely thing to say."
No time is wasted before you charge forward, "What the hell are you doing flirting?!" You launch into a punch, right hand nothing but glove-less metal, knocking the man straight off the porch to the ground below.
In case you didn't recognize the voice, the woman sitting there confirms that this is Ed's memory, "Edward, what the-?"
He's not listening, you feel and hear yourself shouting in Ed's voice.
"You're gone for over ten years, and I come back home to that?! Damn you, old man!"
4. Hohenheim of Light (Milk Rant)
cw: assault (probably best combined with 3.)
There's a man on the ground, presumably Ed's father if this memory is coupled with flashes of the previous one. He smiles up at Ed where you're standing on the porch, who seems aggravated at best.
"Edward," Your eyes widen in surprise at being addressed, before setting once more - still hostile. "So, do you still hate drinking milk?"
Immediately you jump off the porch, kicking him to the ground. "Who are you calling a micro-sized half pint who didn't grow up because he doesn't drink milk?!"
From behind, you hear three voices chime in "That's not what he said, Edward."

What-?
[Clearly there was a point to that, it was just lost on him.]
How, exactly, was I supposed to tell you something like that?
[Really, Jay? For fuck's sake. There's a long moment where he doesn't reply at all, because he's trying to follow along with what any of that even means. He remembered the exhibit though, the information and although it hadn't helped him gain any insight on Attollo like he'd hoped it did help him follow along in this conversation enough to wish he wasn't having it right now.]
First of all, how am I supposed to know what you'd think?
[His tone's a little annoyed there, and escalating in aggravation with the retort, flushing at the implication behind those words.]
I don't know your fucking business. Second of all, you don't know mine.
[Well. Now he does, know Jay's business, at least enough to learn he's a poly dead guy. Thanks for that, Jason. That's helping the situation so much right now. He's still blushing, this is the worst conversation ever, couldn't he have just punched him in the elevator and made this whole ordeal at least predictable, if not easier? His voice is strained when he continues, as if the words pained him.]
Please don't ever use Al and kink in the same sentence in my presence again.
[He loved Al, he would literally die for his brother. The idea of sleeping with him? That wasn't really on Ed's to-do list, and it was probably a major factor in exactly what was "going on" as Jason put it. Both hands lifted to his face, speaking from behind them before they lowered once more.]
I told him we'd figure it out, but I don't know what to do. I don't know what else there is to it, aside from that.
no subject
That strap, see the metal on it, pull it down and latch it into the buckle beside you. If we get in a crash you'll live.
[ He was a little less snappy since, he remembered Ed was from golden oldies times.]
I don't know I never thought about us having a conversation like this before. Chill, I'm not judging you, and you know now so there.
[ Did Ed even know what polygamy was? Opps. He arched a brow looking at Ed in the mirror again.]
Your uncomfortable with sexuality?
[ Jason asked, without blushing. Jeeze this was awkward, but gave him many more questions.]
Answer me this, have you done anything with Al?
no subject
That would make two of us.
[He didn't want to think about having this conversation, but here they were. Sure as hell having it.]
No!
[Yes. Well, sort of. What kind of question was that anyway? Then, as if it was so obvious where the discomfort lies:]
We are talking about my brother, in case you forgot.
[Not that it was entirely the reason, he's embarrassed easily. It's a good thing Jason's not blushing, because Ed's doing enough of it to have them both covered. And the last question makes him choke, how did this conversation keep getting worse?]
How is that any of your fucking business? Besides, define 'anything'-
[If Ed believed in any higher power to pray to, he might be asking to be struck dead at this point. Instead he's going to rake fingers through his bangs, take a breath as if to calm himself, because he knew Jay was only trying to help. In his own way.]
I kissed him. I shouldn't have, but I wasn't thinking...
[He was overthinking.]
He kind of caught me by surprise.
no subject
Your brother who is in love with you. I mean this isn't sounding exactly two sided. I'm trying to understand. Forgive me if I'm a bit of a dick, I just woke up less than an hour ago and shot red bull out of my nose.
[ He grumbled, in his normal woe is me, that he does when he's irked. ]
It's not but, clearly you needed to tell someone, and I'm good at keeping secrets. Thus the best fucking person to talk to about this. Plus, I've been around the block more than a few fucking times. So, yeah. Talk to me. Help me understand.
[ he spoke as traffic started to move and he shifted the car to move what little he could with it this bad.]
You kissed him? Was that before or after the whole of he loves you?
no subject
You left out the part where you decided to traumatize me as your first act of the day. So, I guess you deserved what happened in the elevator.
[That was a joke, maybe. It's getting harder to tell with their relationship. He didn't want to talk about his feelings on it, honestly, he wasn't entirely sure himself.]
Look, it's complicated. I'd do anything for him, you know? I just-
[Well, for one he hadn't thought about this in years. Hadn't had a reason to.]
It wouldn't work out here, for one thing. Even if we both did want the same thing...
[Which he's fairly certain they don't.]
After... At the same time, both I guess? It all happened so fast. I could tell that's what he wanted, so I did it.
[It sounds even worse like that, doesn't it? He's making a mess of this. He's already made a mess of this.]
We got caught in one of those kissing bubbles in September.
[That had been awkward, and the way he shifts slightly is indication enough of that much. It wasn't exactly an experience he'd enjoyed.]
He's my brother, Jason. I can't imagine a- physical relationship with him.
[Ed motions with a hand, gesturing vaguely as he speaks. Of course, Jay might have already figured that much out by the way he reacted to the mention of kink shaming.]
no subject
[ Jay had known better than to turn down this street. But, he hadn't been paying attention to the road as much as to Ed. It was a heavy issue and he felt his friend deserved someone to talk to. Even if he was terrible with emotions, and any kind of healthy relationship.
Okay, that makes more sense. For once in his life, Jason stayed quiet and just listened. Letting Ed talk his way through it. Someone decided just as he was about to pull them off that street to cut them off and Jason laid on the horn and flipped them off... he was such a mature adult. But other horns went off as he yanked the stirring wheel to pull them onto the side street. And just to make things worse, the car stalled. He pulled back and punched the dash, not as hard as he could hit by any means. ]
Goddamnit! Roy knock it off! [ He yelled before taking a breath restarting the car shifting back into gear the car behaving now as he looked to Ed.]
Sorry... you were saying?
no subject
[Honestly, Jay why are you like this. Just when Ed's thinking this trip can't get any worse there's swerving and horns honking and he's just going to flinch when Jason punches the dashboard because he wasn't already on edge enough, thanks Jay.]
Your car is named Roy?
[Why is this his life. Seriously, though, if it sounds like Jason missed what he said he's not going to repeat it.]
no subject
Ed was almost home free. ]
Sorry, man, that jackass almost hit us... Sorry if I spooked you.
[ After the elevator he's pretty sure Ed's never going to be alone with him again.]
It's covered in red, doesn't listen to orders and sucks away all of my money. There is no better name.
no subject
[Not really. He's just still recovering from the elevator. At the last part though, he just mutters dryly.]
Must be something to do with the name.
[He figured it must be named after someone. Not that the Roy he knew was anything like that, but paint him like a pain in the ass Jason and he's going to compare it to Mustang, anyway.]
Look, just don't tell Al I told you any of this.
[He'd be a pretty big hypocrite putting their business out there after making a point of not doing that before now. The thing about Jason was that Ed trusted him not to go telling other people anything as it wasn't their concern, but someone directly involved in the secret? He wasn't so sure he'd think to keep his lips sealed in that department.]
no subject
[ He parked near the general store so Ed wouldn't have a far walk. As he looked to Ed again.]
I have no idea what your talking about Ed. You never told me anything. Anything at all.
no subject
[That's a subtle thanks, but he notices Jay isn't getting out of the car so he turns back before closing the door.]
Weren't you coming to check it out?
no subject
Yeah, I dunno, you just seemed a little tense so, I was going to just go. But, yeah I'd like yo see it. I'm curious about kitchen bed.
no subject
[But he can't help the grin at Jay's focus on the kitchen bed, shrugging dismissively. Once they reached the strip mall Ed unlocked the door to the General Store before motioning Jason in. The shop itself was lackluster, counters that lacked cash registers, fairly empty shelves and a computer terminal that probably looked downright vintage by modern standards. The door to the apartment was in the store, which he unlocked next without even sparing a passing glance to the store itself.]
Well, here it is. Want to drink?
[He didn't wait for a response, making his way behind the kitchen counter to put the shopping into the giant fridge in the far corner. The set up probably resembled a small bakery or cafe, the kitchen itself taking up most of the space but an open floor past the counter where seating could have been set up for customers.]
no subject
You own all of this Ed? Or just the store?
[ Once inside he was a touch disappointed. As dated as it looked he expected a lot and saw little. Some rock candy on the counter would have sold the aesthetic completely. Maybe he just wanted sugar. Who know.
He walked, even on old floors he walked soft careful to not creak anything under him. To much training. As assassin and a Bat should always be quiet even when not working. Looking for any and all exits as he followed Ed along he nodded a bit.]
I'd love a drink, what have you got?
[ He spoke as his eyes widened some looking around, sparing a second to turn himself fully to take it all in. ]
Holy shit, Ed this is awesome.
no subject
The store and the apartment. It's not much, but it was just me and Al.
[They'd never needed much, a hotel room sufficed for so many years it was logical to go for something similar. A place to crash when they weren't working.]
Soda, juice, water, milk-
[That last one is said with clear distaste, oblivious to the way Jason was taking in the apartment as he rummaged through the fridge that was clearly meant for commercial use. He grabbed a soda for himself, before poking his head back out.]
You could come take a look for yourself, we try to keep the place well stocked.
[Not because of paranoia about groceries running out or anything like that, of course not. They had no reason to think that way at all.]
It's not much, the restaurant next door opened up and we were staying here anyway. Figured it made sense to have a bathroom and kitchen accessible if we're going to be spending the night at the store in the future. We'll probably never make use of a kitchen this big.
[It was never meant to be moved into, just a place to eat and get cleaned up when they crashed there for work. He's grinning at the compliment though, adding in a teasing tone.]
So, am I forgiven for the kitchen bed or what?
no subject
[ Jason offered with no clue of what was coming in the future. Though looking the place over gave him ideas of what kind of space to look for to make his future cave in. He knew he couldn't keep going the way he was, he needed to be the Hood at times before he destroyed himself completely. The kitchen alone gave him a list of ideas. He knew moving off the floor and renting two spaces would put him in debt to fast, and he refused to talk to Dick to stay with him and the demon brat.
He moved into the kitchen looking around. He hadn't been cooking much the last week or so, not since he started to notice the Elric's around less and saw less reason when he could live off of fast food. But the kitchen got the gears rolling in his mind of all the things he could make. He should call Wanda... but then that would be admitting he was stirring clear of his brothers, again.
Jason moved over, and shockingly, pured himself some water. ]
Don't like milk? [ He questioned, and at Ed's offer he did indeed start looking through everything, now and then his jacket riding up as if to remind that yes, he was wearing no shirt under it. He'd just pulled it on in a hurry... he wasn't wearing socks either.]
Ed, my man, your ready for World War 3. If you ever want to go all out, I can help with that, Alfred used to let me help when he had to make big things. I know how to cook for a small army, and your friends totally count as one. Just don't tell anyone else I can cook.
[ He chuckled leaning back out of one of the cabinets.]
Hell yes, it's more than forgiven, you could have said it was a loft and I would have understood.
no subject
[The most confused tone there, Jay.]
We're not planning to run a restaurant or anything, it's just our kitchen.
[A little much for just the two of them, but Ed worked with what he had and what he had was an empty restaurant next door that meant not having to buy and find a place to store furniture somewhere else for this.]
Not really.
[Totally going to downplay that hatred of milk there, he was too used to being teased mercilessly for it. He quirked a brow at that response before grinning, tone teasing.]
You mean to tell me the guy that's been cooking since he arrived on Floor Six doesn't want anyone to know he can cook? Sounds a little backwards to me.
[What makes you so sure Ed even knows what a loft is, Jason?]
It was more fun this way, though.
[The good humor wavers after a moment, but he keeps his tone even. Honestly, two seemed bad enough. He didn't like the sound of that.]
Was there really a third world war where you're from?
no subject
[ He motioned his thumb back towards the area they had come in at. While he still scoped the place out.]
I like cooking for those I give a fuck about, that doesn't extend to everyone. Beside's I work hard for my bad reputation.
[ There was pride in that tone. Another drink was taken of the water as he finally turned leaning against the counter near Ed.]
There was only two, it's a common saying, when someone's well prepared for something. I forgot your from an older time. We only had two.
no subject
That's probably as open as it's getting, we usually have people call us to arrange for repairs. The Perimeter Guard takes up most of our time, anyway.
[He could imagine the number of people who would poke fun of him for having it all, being that nostagic. It wasn't like Ed had asked for it to arrive though, he just took the opportunity to grab it when it did, who else would want a run down building like that?]
Yeah, you do.
[Not specifying which of those he's agreeing with.]
The world Al and I wind up on is on the verge of a second one, if I have my facts straight. A third wouldn't have surprised me.
[Probably best not to use that line around Ed, Jay. Little too close to home.]
no subject
[ Jason really hadn't but he liked to play up like he didn't keep tabs on those closest to him. Stalker like behavior tended to be frowned upon.
He liked the rundown look of the place, it looked like the kind of place he would hide in in the underbelly of Gotham but... a lot older. Which said a lot given how old Gotham's underbelly was.]
I deny nothing. [ He shrugged figuring it was the bad reputation.]
The second one was bad, we are still dealing with problems from it in my time. But, I doubt another will happen soon. So, don't worry.
no subject
Let me get this straight. Hypothetically speaking, that this is the same war... You're from some year numbered in the 2000's if I remember right, still dealing with whatever happens in the second world war on your world. Which I'm about to walk into in 1923, and you want me not to worry? Okay, sure.
[Ed has no reason to believe they're from the same world, or it's the same war - but the implication behind Jay's words still made him quirk a brow. If it was the same war, and it did happen, it didn't sound like it was going to be something he wanted to live through - he also didn't like the idea of thinking he was from anyone's past, like this conversation was starting to imply.]
no subject
2017, yes. Look I could explain it, but lets just make it easy and say that's one of the worst wars we ever fought, and us Americans were only involved a little bit. The world's in a good place these days now, I mean there's still wars and pettiness but, we make due.
But again, different worlds. You'd probably know if you were in my world.
no subject
Not reassuring.
[He seemed to consider that a moment before shrugging.]
You got a Germany on your world? Lyle said they did on his, but I guess they don't call it that anymore. Everyone seems to be from some variation of the same world, even if not actually the same one, it's pretty popular.
I haven't met anyone else talking about the countries on my world, but these same places continue to be a common factor for a lot of people here.
no subject
[ He took a drink of his water and looked at Ed a moment considering saying nothing instead his accent seemed to change as he started to speak again, this time in perfect modern day German.]
Of course we do, the German's make the best beer in the world, hands down. And one of my teachers was German. It's called the Multiverse Theory, well its nor a theory anymore, there fifty two parallel universes in my universe. Maybe earth as it is is a nexus. A central point to focus the energies of each copy of the multiverse.
[ Sometime's Jason forgets that he tries to play dumb.]
no subject
[When Jay started speaking in German though, Ed just stared. It wasn't what he was saying, nothing about that was even new or surprising - the specifics about Jason's universe aside - and he knew the guy was smart no matter what act he played. Knowing of a country called Germany and speaking German casually were two completely different things.]
You say of course like it's perfectly normal. There's no Germany where I'm from.
[He did specifically switch to German for that particular part.]
