For how many years he spent living on Deep Space Nine – or Terok Nor, as it once was – Odo was almost intimately familiar with its corridors, shops, and cargo bays. Criminals always knew the secret ways through vents or hidden deck plates to conduct their business – and therefore so did the constable.

However, here the buildings and roads were a mystery – a mystery that had to be solved if he had any chance of finding out exactly what had happened to him.

Not being familiar with the native fauna, Odo took the form of a Tarkalean hawk to take his impromptu aerial tour. He did his best to make a mental map of the area, but soon it would be too dark to make any more progress.

He looks for a suitable place to land, and finds one on a stone bench on the cusp of a street light. Anyone looking would see the bird turn into a shimmering liquid before growing in size and changing in shape to something much more human in appearance.

Ronan narrowed his eyes, sizing up this-- apparently not fairy-- before him. And he thought he took things personally. It wasn't like he'd called Odo that kind of fairy.

"Yeah, dude. I don't know what changeling you're talking about, but back in Ireland they're fairies. Never heard the story? Happy, healthy children replaced with sick, frail fairies in the middle of the night." He frowned. "Man, you got my hopes up."

He'd always wondered what it'd be like to meet a fairy, even if the results were usually poor.

"What kind of changeling are you talking about?"

Ronan rolled his eyes in response to Odo's defensiveness, but didn't resist the change in subject. Now that they'd established Odo was not only not a fairy but pissed off at being called one, his interest had dropped significantly.

Alright, so maybe he was a little touchy about his heritage, too. No one appreciated the stories he grew up with.

"Ronan. You?"

Ronan smiled. The resemblance to a snake didn't help make a good impression, but that was the point. His appearance was a well crafted warning.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a treat for his raven. His body language remained the same. He was always tense, but he moved with ease. He tossed the treat into the air. Chainsaw went for it, her claws dug into his shoulder, leaving talon shaped scratches. Ronan's mouth twitched in response, but he kept his cool. When it came to Chainsaw, anyway.

"That explains the stick up your ass." He turned. "I can take care of myself."
