who: Odo & OPEN
what: Checking out his new environment
when: October 13th
where: Some park near the residential area
warnings: None, will update if needed.
For how many years he spent living on Deep Space Nine – or Terok Nor, as it once was – Odo was almost intimately familiar with its corridors, shops, and cargo bays. Criminals always knew the secret ways through vents or hidden deck plates to conduct their business – and therefore so did the constable.
However, here the buildings and roads were a mystery – a mystery that had to be solved if he had any chance of finding out exactly what had happened to him.
Not being familiar with the native fauna, Odo took the form of a Tarkalean hawk to take his impromptu aerial tour. He did his best to make a mental map of the area, but soon it would be too dark to make any more progress.
He looks for a suitable place to land, and finds one on a stone bench on the cusp of a street light. Anyone looking would see the bird turn into a shimmering liquid before growing in size and changing in shape to something much more human in appearance.

That was something interesting to hear. This person was young and might not understand what they could have implied, but even so, it rang some alarms. Various surveillance methods and sprang to mind.
"What makes you say that?"
Any questions the youth might have about the Founders would have to wait now that Odo's curiosity was piqued.

"Right now, people are having their memories show up on the network and in shared dreams. A few months ago, a number of us ended up with amnesia. This place is unpredictable at best." Ciel was also a bit cynical at times.
no subject
"Does anyone know what's causing it?"
no subject
"As far as I'm aware, no. Not yet. Undoubtedly there are people working at it though, just as when we had amnesia." Out of habit, he presented this very matter-of-factly but felt the slightest bit guilty.
"Perhaps, since you've arrived after it all started, you may be spared."

The more pressing matter at the moment was gathering the information he could provide.
"You mentioned people working through problems like these... Is there a sort of organization or group that takes on that sort of work?"
no subject
"The people at Gramarye Magic Research may be looking into it? Beyond that, I'm not sure there's an actual organization working at some of this problems. I admit though, I haven't kept track as well as I might."
The arcane was something he preferred at arms length, and his understanding of technology here was mostly limited to the phones and computers. He wasn't sure he cold catch up to a couple hundred years of development. Not this quickly.

Magic meant many different things on many different worlds, but in none of them did it mean anything reliable. Odo preferred facts that and research with a basis in science. It was neater, cleaner, and a great deal more likely to work.
"If that is the sort of method being used to find out any answers, we're practically doomed."
no subject
"We were brought here by a seemingly sentient portal. I hate to admit as much, but it's as sound a method as any other at this point." And, even if he wanted to push it all off as nonsense, he'd been to enough parties here to see magic used. And he'd once accidentally summoned a demon himself.

Odo already had a few choice questions for the potential entity stirring in his mind. He was an investigator - asking questions was almost instinctual... as was his ability to pick out the suspicious. Something struck him as odd about the young man, but he couldn't say just what. It certainly wouldn't hurt to keep tabs on him. He tries to sound casual.
"What did you say your name was again? We might have skipped introductions..."
no subject
No, he'd grown content enough in the Quarantine. There was a lot waiting for him in England, things that could wait as far as he was concerned. He was still curious about the portal though, and just how it chose the people who supposedly needed a new home or life. Or whatever it was.
"I didn't." An almost pleasant smile. "But I am Earl Ciel Phantomhive, for the title serves me here."
no subject
Ciel's more mature and reserved nature for his age could be explained in part by his upbringing with a title, and some harsh circumstances in childhood. At least, that was Odo's current working theory.
Satisfied with the temporary answer to his suspicions, the constable decided he had no reason to be overly concerned for the time being. He nods once to Ciel before offering his own name.
"Odo," he says simply. "Thank you for the information, Mr. Phantomhive."
no subject
"Pleased to meet you, Odo. And please, Ciel will do. I don't feel quite old enough yet to warrant a 'mister' tacked on." He managed a faint smile, just thinking about being called Mr. Phantomhive brought a soft laugh.
