"There's a market for everything, sweetheart." He shrugs, but he can tell she's not taking him well and decides not to push it. He's about as neutral about keeping his blood inside him as he is about slavery, but he's not about to enter into a fight he's not sure he can win. Especially when he risks getting bloodied up by a woman in front of prospective strangers.

"Guessing you're another hero type like him, huh."

She wishes he weren't right. She also can't quite put her finger on why his assertion that she's a hero bothers her. Something in his tone of voice, most likely. "Like him? Roy?" Probably Roy. "No. I'm not a hero." Once upon a time, they'd all bought into the possibility. Steve could really sell the whole glory and honour schtick, could make it sound not only appealing, but cleansing. She's not the only one who started to believe it. Look where that got them.

"I'm still not letting you bring someone back to sell." Maybe there is someone who would let him do it, but she is the someone who will stop him. You don't have to be a hero to have a problem with slavery. It doesn't say anything particularly good about her. It may make her better than her new acquaintance, but someone she thinks that's not a very high bar. "So if that's the only reason you want to come along, maybe go home."

"Never said it was the only reason - and I never said I was bringing it home this time."

If they're being honest, he only went along out of curiosity. He's obviously out of place - and he obviously knows it - but he has yet to figure out what to do with himself in the quarantine and figures that tagging along to explore the world can't hurt.

And it won't hurt to know a source, if he sniffs out a flesh market in Riverview.

"It's Greenhilt's problem if I make a fuss, he's the one that let me come along. If he wants to miss out on the extra protection, that's on him to decide." And even at that, unless Roy was willing to raise a weapon against him he'd probably just tag along anyway to annoy them. "I'm here because I felt like being here, that's all."

If he's kidding, it's the kind of joke she doesn't find particularly funny, and now that Natasha knows he's around, he might find it a little difficult to shake her in the future. Perks of working for the Perimeter Guard - if he wants to head back out beyond the quarantine later, she can probably set it up so that she's notified. She hasn't tried it with anyone yet, but there's usually a way. She's still not amused.

"It's everyone's problem if you make a fuss. I've been on plenty of teams where not everyone could pull their weight. It never ends well."

"You're kind of a stick in the mud, huh."

He tips his head, regarding her carefully. She's definitely not someone he'd want to fuck with... but not someone he could see himself getting on the same team with. She seems as set on being a good person as he is on making a mess. Which is a little disappointing... she seems too morally conscious for a catwoman-batman thing.

"If you got a problem with it, you're free to kill me. But you'll just be making extra work for everyone." And he's pretty sure she's not one to throw the first punch, when all he's doing is a middle school level of teasing.

"Not that much work. Beyond the perimeter, your body won't be an issue. One in the back of the head and toss you out. Pretty easy, really." If he wants to be shitty, Natasha can be shitty. She opens the door of the truck and hauls herself into the cab, familiarizing herself with the positioning. She doesn't expect she'll be driving. She's good behind the wheel, but far better with a gun. Of course, plans fall apart. It's what they do. Her contingencies have contingencies, because it comes to that more often that she likes to think about.

"You are threatening an unarmed man who just signed up to be a driver, so he could get out and explore a bit. And all I did was crack a few shitty jokes. If anything, he's just testing how far he can go before she actually attacks him.

There's a rich and varied middle ground. Roy? Hero." She hooks a thumb at Dodger. "Total scum." Then sweeps that hand to encompass herself. "Rich and varied middle ground." Granted, she's a hell of a lot closer to Dodger's end of the spectrum than she is to Roy's, but still.

She turns on the windshield wipers, and the powerful jets which she assumes spray like hoses in order to clear serious much off the windshield. The force is strong enough to splash water on Dodger, leaning half in the window the way he is.
