"Sure," she deadpans at him. "Cool."

Scott is presenting her with a very unique opportunity, and Natasha is spooling it out carefully. He wants her approval. Well, he wants approval full stop, but he's taking particular care going after hers. Which means, as long as he's still striving for it, she's got him with very minimal effort. He might even want her to like him. She knows about his life, his past. She knows he's not exactly mister popularity.

"You're taking this seriously, I hope. There are people who need our help. This isn't a joke."

Scott is Mr Popular--what is she even talking about? Everyone loves him. Just, you know, not his ex wife's new guy, or the police, or Hank Pym most of the time, and, you know what? This kind of list is just depressing.

"Hey, I can take stuff seriously and showcase my witty repartee at the same time, you know. It's called 'talent'." Arguably his only one. .

"Scott? You don't have witty repartee. You've got a very cool suit and you're not useless in a fight." She checks the clip in one of her guns, even though she did so earlier and has no reason to do it again now. The point is, he's not worth her full attention. That is the point she's trying to make. That is the button she's chosen to press first. "You're clear on what's required of you?" She knows he's probably not, because she knows that Roy wasn't able to forward the details on to anyone. She only got the full picture herself when Roy arrived this morning.

She still sounds like he absolutely should be, and like she's going to be disappointed with him if he's not.
