Well Shigeru is a bit more quiet than everyone else but that's just due to the fact he can't speak. He is also bad at socializing but he'll manage through this as they're all working as a team together.

Though he'll start to see the others show after a time. He hasn't really met any of them and this is probably a good way to get to know others here so he'll start off with whoever he happens to be closest to at the time. He'll give a friendly wave and smile as he types up something on his phone for them to read.

"Hello it's nice to meet you! I don't think we've met before, I'm Shigeru Miyata. I'll be helping with healing and fighting on the side. I brought some extra medical supplies as well, so don't be afraid to ask if you need something!

Dodger had noticed the man being quiet, but it doesn't take him long to notice pauses where even a shy person would pipe up. It barely surprises him when the man starts typing instead, and communicating that way.

He disappears with a pop near Shigeru, a flash of sparks floating past him and somewhere along the way the phone disappears from his hand. Dodger appears next to him, reading through the message with a lazy expression before handing it back. He's pretty sure Shigeru had intended to 'speak' to someone else, but he's got Shigeru's attention now and that's what matters.

"Can you hear?"

Everything Dodger does happens so fast that Shigeru can't properly react until he's handing his phone back to him. Shigeru's face goes pale white while watching him touch it however. There's a look of dismay on his features the longer Dodger handles his phone. Shigeru might flinch away when his phone is offered back to him. It's probably obvious, from the white gloves on his hands, that he's not exactly the most normal of people. It's even more noticeable when he takes out a sanitizing wipe and takes his phone back that way.

Sorry Dodger he isn't going to respond until his phone is clean, which takes a couple of seconds to do, mostly because his ocd is pretty bad still. But he does know they other is waiting for a reply and that gets him to snap back slightly to respond.

Sorry! Yes I...can hear! [ Though now he looks totally awkward and embarrassed at his display before the other man. ]

The longer Shigeru spends trying to clean off the phone - really, he's a gross person but not on the outside - the more it dawns on him that he's just set off some sort of neurosis. Not that it shows on his face that he feels any regret... he just raises a brow, pausing to read the message.

"So you're mute." He hesitates, trying to decide how to handle this. Honestly? He never cares about people's disabilities, it's their problem if they can't keep up with the rest of the world. But it just wastes his time if he makes the guy cry. He lets out a little huff before speaking. "Name's Dodger. You might need those supplies, I'm a high-offense kinda guy. You any good at military hand signals?"

Shigeru might nod sheepishly/ He's always awkward and embarrassed to admit his phobia or his disability but that's just a product of how it was treated by most back home. Phrobiests were typically top notch in at least physical performance, so to not have that like he does it a bit strange.

Yes actually. I...work with a military sort of. We're like a special ops teams in a way. You don't know any sign language do you?

Dodger tips his head to the side, and signs the only thing he knows how to - 'suck my dick' - and follows it with a sort of 'that's all I got' gesture. He's good at talking with his hands and body language, but any time he's had to communicate with a deaf person, he's either had a translator or enough time on his hands to scribble notes back and forth on paper.

"Let's just stick with the signals, if we need 'em. Your phone's fine if you got anything more complex to say."

Oh my god Dodger?! Shigeru just blushes a lot at that and looks away. Well then that's not going to be of much use. The phone it is then!

That works for me! I...hope we can get through this without having to resort to any of that though.

He means using his supplies or hand signals.

He would have been disappointed if Shigeru didn't become a mess - and a smile cracks over his face when he gets exactly what he was going for.

"Sure... but let's not rule anything out."

He decidedly does not mean using supplies or hand signals.

Of course I'm not going to rule anything! But if everyone is cautious and stays together we'll manage to do this with less injuries.

Shigeru no. That's not what he meant at all.

But you were in the military too?

He's not about to correct him - again, making him cry is just senseless trouble. He just shakes his head in response to the second question.

"Man who raised me was, for a while. He taught me the signals."

He's still toying with whether it's worth telling him why he needed the signals... but he's pretty sure the man will ask anyway. At least he can say that if Shigeru can see his tattoos, his scars and his body posture, and still ask about his past, it's on him if he gets uncomfortable.

Shigeru will nod as he types up something.

Was he mute or deaf by any chance?

He does notice all those things and can probably make guesses on them but he rather just ask to get the full picture any way.

"Nah... nah, far from it."

Well, now Dodger's a little uncomfortable. It occurs to him that his life would've been a lot nicer if Benny was quiet, but that's neither here nor there. His brow twitches a bit, he avoids eye contact for just a second, and then the discomfort is gone and he just shakes his head lightly before elaborating.

"How do I put this - he ran a criminal organization back in Boston. Spent a lot of time running missions 'n' shit with him." That's the lightest description he can think of for it - he doesn't like to get into how fucked his childhood was, but people tend to stop asking questions around there. Being a criminal is all he needs to get his fair share of distrust and judgement.

Ah well he wasn't sure what to make of it but he just nods and types something up again. He didn't mean to pry that much and of course he knows he shouldn't have but that's just how he rolls. He might also avoid eye contact as he looks down at his phone while he types something.

I'm sorry! I'm not really good at this sort of thing. I...shouldn't of asked anymore. So I apologize for making you talk about it.

He does look really apologetic there and then. It couldn't have been easy at all, and he didn't really know when to not overstep his boundaries sometimes. That's what Alex was good for, he was good at socializing Shigeru was not.

He's read about half of that when he just lets out a quiet huff and reaches out to touch the phone, tipping it down so he can look at Shigeru properly.

"Hey, relax. The past is the past. We got bigger fish to fry than how shitty I had it fifteen years ago."

He's overstepping his boundaries by touching Shigeru's things again - this time knowing full well it'll stress him out - but he's at least doing his best to be a calm presence. He's known a lot of guys that are all nerves... and he's had to deal with them enough that he's pretty good at that soothing voice one usually gives to nervous animals.

Dodger please?! Shigeru might tense and jump a little, pulling his phone back towards his chest when he's able to. Please don't touch his things!!

Even still. I shouldn't have asked that so casually! So I have to apologize.

He's bad at socializing but that's no excuse for it.

"No, I'm serious, don't..."

Don't cower, it's depressing. He just lets out a quiet huff, and slips his hands into his pockets.

"Look, I'm not big on apologies. Taking or giving. Either tell me something you're not great about admitting to make things even, or drop it. Your choice."

Ah, well, this sure is awkward but Shigeru does nod in understanding. He might even type something up as he thinks about Dodger's offer.

I'm not very good at socializing, so that's one of the reason why I apologized.

He knows it's not a good excuse but he really is telling the truth. He might fidget as he types something else to follow up that other message.

I don't really go out too much in general, but you probably figured that.

"Yeah, I figured that much."

Not touching the man makes things a little awkward... Dodger's a very touch-based person, and keeping himself from putting his hands on Shigeru is slowly starting to bother him. Not that it shows much.

"I'm not too good with people, so I'm not gonna hold it to you."

Huh. Roy had not considered this use for these devices, and now that he'd been awakened to it he actually found himself respecting them somewhat more. Far more efficient than a journal or a chalkboard or something like that.

"Roy Greenhilt," he said, offering a hand. "We communicated."

Ah. Well he doesn't take the offered hand in fact he might flinch slightly when its offered. He might pause for a second before giving the other a sheepish, if awkward smile back. He's sorry if he's rude but there's reason?!

Sorry! I'm not really good with that sort of thing.

Hand shaking he means. Instead he'll just type something else up to try and not make it as awkward.

It's very nice to meet you! I hope we can get through this without too much trouble.

"My mistake, I apologize." Roy had gotten very good at accepting his mistakes and working to correct them, while understanding he couldn't have realistically avoided the mistakes.

He'd made more than enough mistakes to have to learn that.

"I'm glad to have you aboard. Are you prepared, or do you need to take care of anything?"

Shigeru will shake his head and hold up his hands.

It's okay! You don't need to apologize! You didn't know...

And he's sure this is just awkward now because of that, ah.

No I'm okay! I think I have everything I need. I brought eztra first aid and medical supplies just in case my powers aren't enough.

"Oh, that's great!" Roy perked up slightly, pleased that a member of his team definitely seemed to have it together, especially with regard to his chosen role. "I wasn't certain what I should prepare for you, so there are some standard supplies in the truck, but I'm definitely glad to have more along."
