(open) memory share

who: Wally West + you
what: Memory sharing and whatnot
when: Oct 9-23
where: Wherever needed
warnings: angst? Spoilers for DC Rebirth.

(one) Back when we thought we knew everything - First person

[ This memory begins with this guy looking back at you with a bemused expression. The fact he is soaked to the bone might have something to do with it. A quick glance to your right reveals a a third occupant in the room; a dark-haired teenage girl holding a bucket of water balloons.

The girl's free hand is covering her mouth in an attempt to stifle her giggles. Your own red-gloved hands come up as you try to placate the soaked young man while your body shakes from your own laughter.

"C'mon, Speedy. I was just showing Wonder Girl here how to have some fun. Can't you handle a little prank?"

Apparently, the answer to that question is no as Speedy mutters a quick "You're dead, West" and lunges towards you. All Speedy ends up grasping is air as you blur across the room in an instant. Speedy is undeterred by this, but before he can try something again, the girl steps in to play peacemaker.

"Okay, boys, that's enough. You're getting water all over the place, Harper."

The soaked teenager opens his mouth, to protest no doubt, but thinks better of it. He says something about having to change his clothes as he begins to grumpily walk back through the door; sending a final look in your direction to let you know there will be some prank payback.

Your eyes linger on the door after Speedy closes it behind him; which is why you fail to notice the water balloon headed in your direction until it hits you squarely in the chest, water splashing all over you. You sputter for a moment, before looking back at the girl who is wearing a big grin on her face.

"You were right, West. This was fun."

All you can do is offer her a thumbs up for a job well done.

(two) Lost outside of time and reality - First person; vision

[ The first part of memory starts with you in a void outside of time and reality. This void is known as the Speed Force -- an extra-dimensional energy source that speedsters draw their power from. It's also where a speedster goes when they tap into the source too much or push themselves beyond the limits. Not that you know any of this.

There's a sense of hope as visions from across time and realities flicker about with no real clarity. Something has happened, and the opportunity for this person to push against the barrier to make contact with someone back in the real world has finally arrived.

Their (first) attempt at contact takes you to what appears to be a cave that is anything but ordinary where a man wearing a strange costume is waiting. There is lightning crackling all around as the man asks who you are.

"I'm younger than you would remember. We all are. My name is Wally..."

The pain you feel is almost unbearable as the connection isn't strong enough. But this person named Wally continues on despite the pain.

"Remember how you got the letter! The letter you got from your father! It's how all this started!"

The man doesn't fully understand, not yet anyway. He tells you not to go as he reaches out for you. But, the Speed Force will not be denied its prize and it claims you once again.

(three) A love forgotten - Third person

[ Rain is falling as a young man, who can only be Wally himself in his Kid Flash uniform, stands before a young woman sprawled out on the ground with lightning swirling and crackling around him. The expression on his face is one of pure elation while the woman's was mixed with confusion and fear.

He should have noticed how scared she was. But, he had been looking for her for so long and was so certain of their love that he believed she was going to anchor him back to reality like she had done so many times before.

He sticks out a gloved hand, asking her to take it so he can come home. She doesn't. All she can do is stutter out a "You are..." while she scrambles to her feet. Further explanation from him is going to be needed.

"Someone who loves you very much. We helped each other. We will again. We'll help everyone. But it starts with us, Linda. You and me."

The words don't help to clear up her confusion, they lead to her uttering four words -- "I don't know you" -- that has his world come crashing down. He doubles over as he is hit with an excruciating amount of pain while the lightning begins to engulf him; the Speed Force is trying to pull him back.

All he has time for is one last desperate plea to get her to remember.

"Linda, it's me! It's Wally! Wally West! God, please let her remember me."

But it is too late. Lightning clouds his vision as the connection is severed for good.

what is it with flashes and journalists, huh?

[ First Barry and Iris, now Wally and Linda... Cisco is starting to detect a pattern. ]

you must miss her
franciscoramon: (:? forgiveness can you imagine)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-10-22 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Cisco still finds it to be a pretty funny coincidence, but that's just how the multiverse goes, apparently. ]

amen to that

oh yeah.
were you something before the whole speedforce thing and now you're not?

[ In the memory, Wally had said they loved one another. True, that didn't necessarily mean they were together, but... ]

might never amount to anything, but for what it's worth, i'm starting to work on a device for sending messages back home.
i know you're probably on that list of people who's waiting for them to find your world with the portal but
just in case i manage to get this working before then, if there's any messages you want to send back...
i really can't promise anything i just wanted to let you know i'm trying
franciscoramon: (:v is that how it is)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-10-23 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
no kidding.
that sucks out loud, dude.
is there any chance of making it work a second time?

[ Maybe Cisco's just a hopeless romantic, but he thinks that if she'd fallen in love with him once she could do it again. And second chances are so important. ]

i will for sure
right now i'm still working on understanding multidimensional energy
not like there's textbooks for this stuff so i'm starting from scratch
but i managed to get in contact with another universe by accident, once, from here
so it should be possible, eventually.
franciscoramon: (:! hold up a minute there)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-10-26 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ Wally sounds very uncertain, but Cisco is going to choose to believe that it'll happen, sooner or later. He's an optimist like that. ]

i will be
which you should believe despite the fact that the answer to your next question is 'my friend and i were dicking around and seeing what happened when we combined some of my tech and some of his magic'

[ Cisco leans in to the whole irresponsible friendly experiment angle. The truth is a little more complicated - he and Taako had been quite serious, when they accidentally contacted Earth-2. Tech had been involved, but it had really been his powers that they were exploring. But... he still isn't sure how to tell Wally about those. He's going to have to do it, sooner or later, but... not today. ]
franciscoramon: (:? science)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-10-30 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
he was in a coma for months when he first got his powers?
and he lost his connection with it once, temporarily
but he's never gotten sucked into it or whatever
i didn't even know that was a thing that could happen

you gotta keep in mind that minus the coma
he's only been a speedster for a little more than a year where i'm from
that's not all that long
franciscoramon: (:# friends)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-11-04 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
definitely going to keep that in mind

wait seriously?
how'd you swing that?
if it's okay to ask. i figure the more i know the better, just in case you know?

visions and stuff?
that's trippy.
like about what?

[ And just like that, Cisco's brain is going on a Guilt Journey over the fact that he hasn't told Wally about his powers. He should, and he knows that, and maybe he's even feeling brave enough these days. But by text just isn't right, right? That might just be self-justification. Cisco resolves that the next time he sees Wally in person, he'll tell him he's a meta. Probably. ]
franciscoramon: (:? uncertainty)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-11-07 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
right. got it.

[ He doesn't doubt Wally for a moment; he's seen some pretty strange things happen with the speedforce already and he knows he's only scratched the surface. ]

he was probably pretty disoriented.
seems like with future visions and stuff things might get kinda scrambled in your brain.
what kinda things was he saying?

[ Cisco worries he's pushing for too much information, but Wally doesn't seem to mind, and what harm could it do? Better to know everything, or as much as he can. Just in case. ]
franciscoramon: (:? science)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-11-12 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
shit.
got it.

[ Cisco might not know specifics, but he knows Barry, and Barry's kindness is clearly something that transcends other differences between their worlds. If he were saying cruel things, yeah. That was a bad sign. Cisco remembers how it had gone down, with Rainbow Raider. ]

that sounds scary as hell
for him and you guys
franciscoramon: (:? oh)

[personal profile] franciscoramon 2017-11-16 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
the barry in my universe has never been great at admitting it when he's not doing so hot
maybe that's something they've got in common

sure, you know i'm always down for a flash hang ⚡️👍🏽
