The Controlled Invasion [Open]

what: A mysterious criminal (?) made their move

Ever since the news reports about high-tech weapon robberies seemingly conducted by a dragon and three mysterious creatures popping out from TV to social media, some of the residents grew cautious at what these mystery criminals will do next. They were not the only ones as the rest of the research facilities toughen up their securities to prevent another robbery from letting these dangerous weapons fall into the wrong hands.
It has been a few days after the news reports and for some reason, the remaining research facilities remained intact and that there have been no new updates regarding the robbery case. It seemed like everything is back to its peaceful state. That is until this Friday afternoon where masterminds are about to make their move.
I. Attack at the Riverview University
As today's classes were ended, many university students and professors were leaving to go home and rest for another day as many college kids are chatting about their latest thesis while some are asking professors regarding their tests and projects. However, this peaceful afternoon was interrupted when several residents are approaching the university grounds. For some reason, they have a dazed look in their dull eyes and even if you tried to call them out, they will not respond.
Unknown to the students, teachers, and any resident passing by, the dazed residents have a strange-looking earpiece on their ears as they hear one word from it.
"Go."
Before anyone can do anything, a grenade was thrown at them as it quickly explodes the moment it touches the ground. While no one was caught in the blast, the shock from the explosion caused everyone to stop their tracks and stare at the smoke, which the dazed residents began to grab them and drag them into a heavy-armored truck. Not only that, some of the residents pulled out some weapons from their gym bags and began to charge into the university to capture the ones who were still inside.
You have no idea what was happening, but if I were you, you might try to stop the dazed residents and save the hostages. Though if you can able to look behind the tree at the center square, you may see a hooded man hiding there, who is somehow observing the whole event.
II. The Scapegoat's Ambush
Meanwhile, at the market area, residents are going about their daily lives as they buy some groceries and new clothes while shopkeepers sell some of these said items to their eager customers, unaware of what is about to happen. If you're doing some shopping for groceries or anything or you're just passing by, you may notice a hooded man in a black robe holding out a megaphone as a shark/dinosaur dragon hybrid and a black squid-like creature stand by his side. And for some strange reason, there are some dazed residents staring at everyone with their dull eyes as the man then speaks out.
"Attention, all of the residents who are present right now. This is a bit sudden for me to say this, but as of right now, my partner is demanding all of you to come with me for your enlightenment. Joining is mandatory and bowing out is not an option. Anyone who resists... Shall be met by force!"
All of the sudden, the dazed residents draw out ropes, bats, and guns as they started to chase down every shopper and other residents around the market area and drag any defenseless resident to a heavy-armored truck nearby. If you managed to escape the chaos, you may notice the same hooded man somehow incapacitate some of the residents by throwing some small objects with some kind of power while the dragon also joined in to drag the others into the truck. If you have a sharp eye, you may also notice that the squid is somehow chuckling evilly as it watches the chaos unfolds.
In any case, you may have to act fast before they can get away. You may try to stop the dazed residents and the dragon and save the innocent or confront the hooded man. Regardless of your choice, it was the matter of time to save the residents from the mystery man.
[OOC: Welcome to the first part of my player plot! You are welcome to start a top-level on either run away from the dazed residents or save the day in either of the prompts. But as for the second prompt, there will be a starter for those who want to confront the mystery man. This way, I will try to play out the "mystery man" in order to play out the events leading up to the grand reveal of his identity. I will also RP the NPC partner he mentioned.
I also want to announce that I'm delaying Part 2 of the player plot a bit since I wanted to write another log about the aftermath of this event. More info about the changes will be in the OOC post!
EDIT: After a short conversation with Ladybug/Marinette's player, I will put up a starter on encountering the hooded man that will take place before the market area attack very shortly.

That's just what I was planning to do. [ Wait dragon wh- whoah! Ladybug caught that quick movement out of the corner of her eye and just BARELY dodged it. Thank GOD she was as dodgy and agile as she was. ]
That's really low - you can't fight your own battles so you make other creatures do it for you, and even have the nerve to involve innocents! [ Well he WAS a bad guy. She swung her yoyo out, turning to try to keep both the the pokemon and the hooded man in her view. She didn't like the idea of turning her back to an enemy one bit. ]
Just what's your game anyway? What do you hope to accomplish? [ Watch out little pokemon, because the special magic yoyo is whipping out towards it too! ]

Who says I can't fight my own battles?
[With a turn of events, several stones begin to levitate just as the man raises his hand. And if Ladybug uses her yo-yo to his dragon, he quickly throws the stones to her just as his dragon attempts to cut it down with its claw.]
Have your ears gone deaf? I'm only seeking for everyone's enlightenment. If I won't achieve this, then my partner won't be very happy.

Enlightenment is a pretty vague concept. The fact that you're -forcing- these people against their will doesn't seem very enlightening --!
[ HEY HEY HEY Don't throw rocks at girls! RUDE. Unfortunately it puts her on the defensive, and while she dodges the first couple of stones, it does get her to momentarily drop her guard and she hisses in pain when the dragon's claw slashes across her arm. She immediately retaliates, whipping her yoyo like a ...well, a whip at the pokemon - sorry buddy! ]

[This time, he grabs some ceramic plates from a nearby store display and quickly use his telekinesis to throw them to Ladybug.]

[ HEY, STOP THROWING STUFF. Her left arm was still aching from the nasty slash that the pokemon gave her, but she isn't out by a long shot. She winces as a plate smacks her upside the head, and she shifts her attention from the pokemon to whipping her yoyo in front of her body and spinning it rapidly to create a shield, the plates shattering against her weapon as they came in contact with it.]
Why don't you stop hiding your identity and show your face?
[ Pot, kettle, black. But once the last plate is smashed to pieces she's whipping that yoyo out again, this time to try to wrap around the hooded man to pull him closer so she could try and de-hood him. ]

Of course, this gives enough time for the dragon to recover as it charges onto the heroine and attempts to slash her with its claws.]

[ Her yoyo just.. stopped. How in th-- ohhhh right. He *DID* seem to have some kind of telekinetic power, so it would stand to show he could do that too. Gosh that was annoying.
She DOES see the squid creature, but she can't tell what exactly it's doing, and in a moment she has something else to worry about. She hears the dragon charging towards her and pivots, raising her arm again and taking the hit with a grimace of pain. OW. FRICK OW. AND OW AGAIN. She retaliates, going straight for a sharp punch and kick to get the creature to back off, so she herself and get some space.
This was definitely not working - she needed to change her tactics. ]

I think it's time I stop playing here. Capture her!
[With that command, some of the brainwashed residents begin to charge onto her and attempt to attack her with chairs, maces, and whips. What's even more shocking is that the others begin to use some high-tech guns in an attempt to shoot her down.]
Sorry for the TL;DR :D
She ducked a whip coming in at her and raised her uninjured arm to let it wrap around instead, yanking it out of the attacker's hand. Lowering her other arm - which was getting hard to move from taking the brunt of the attacks - she reached into her pouch - yeep, narrowly dodged a swing from a mace, and as she pulled out her yoyo again, she yelped as a bullet -PWINGED- off of it. Oh thank god that thing can't be broken. ]
Guns too? Are you crazy!? [ Yay, she's a threat! ... wait, that's not a 'yay' situation. She swings her yoyo into the air, the weapon spinning as the magic transformed it. ]
Lucky Charm!!
[ And another dodge, kicking a chair out of someone's hands -- well actually she TRIED to kick it, it kind of breaks instead. Oops. WELL No one needed to sit down on it right? Reaching up a hand as the yoyo drops back down into her hands, transformed into a charm - this time it was a red and black spotted cylinder with a ring. The heck was this..? It almost looked like a grenade, but she know the Miraculous wouldn't send her something like that. Which meant -- she tugged the ring and a thick, red smoke immediately started pouring out. She tossed it in front of her, hiding her from view. Silently she slipped away from the mind-controlled crowd and in the confusion, attempted to loop her yoyo around the hooded man's ankle, darting in the opposite direction to hide behind a tree. Let them think she fled the scene, and when she got a chance she'd trip her trap~! ]

Now satisfied at the site, the hooded man then uses his telekinesis once more to carry several knives from a nearby briefcase that one of the residents carried and aimed it at the young ladybug-like superheroine.]
Adieu.
[But something shocking just happened as Ladybug's yo-yo somehow transformed into a smoke grenade, which somehow shocked the squid-like creature. Before they can react, the grenade already activated as the smoke from it begins to envelop the whole battlefield. This frustrates the hooded man as he can't see the young superheroine as he gritted his teeth in anger.]
Find her! Don't let her escape!
[But due to him focusing on the smoke around him to find her, he quickly fell down on the floor, which caused the knives he carried to fall on the floor. That wasn't supposed to happen, he thought. But it did as he looked at his leg and saw that a yo-yo was tied on it, which explained his sudden "trip".
This made him even angrier as he tried to grab the knives with his telekinesis. However, a swelling pain began to invade his head as he gritted his teeth and scratched his head to endure it.]
You... YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!
That's it. I don't want to do this, but this ends here once and for all!
[He was very desperate now. With his headache, he can't use his powers properly. Also, if he loses, then this whole attack will fail and he feels that something bad will happen if it did. He then saw his dragon approaching him and hopefully, Ladybug, he raises his left arm and tried to tap something on his wrist. While Ladybug might not able to see what he was tapping on, but she may have a chance to intervene.]

Good, then I'm doing my job right.
[ Her sassing halts abruptly though, when she saw the dragon starting to approach, and then the hooded man raising his arm to tap something. ]
No you don't.. not this time. [ She muttered to herself. Winding her yoyo back to her hand, she whipped it out to either catch his wrist and jerk his arm back so he can't tap on .. whatever he was tapping on, or hitting the device directly to knock it off - either way she was planning on not letting him have his way. ]

[For some reason, the squid somehow growled in anger at this turn of events. Yet it was not happy because their trainer's identity has been revealed.]

[ She didn't know squids could growl - but that thing was no real squid, it was something else. Maybe a pokemon too? Speaking of pokemon, she glanced over her shoulder quickly to keep an eye on the dragon that had been approaching, and then back to Sycamore. ]
You're coming with me. I expect the Perimeter Guard will have some questions for you.
[ At least, that's the idea. He might have something else up his sleeve. Speaking of, she glanced quickly over towards civilians to see if they were still enthralled - particularly the ones that were attacking her before. ]

I feel that would be impossible.
[Without any warning, a strange telekinetic force quickly pushes Ladybug onto a wall. When it did, Sycamore yanked the yo-yo away from his arm before he telekinetically levitate the knives as he stands up.]
It seems that you are more irritating than we thought it would be. I'm afraid that I have no choice but to kill you. That way, my partner and I will continue our plans without your stupid interference!
[He then throws the knives at the superheroine with all of his might as he attempts to take her life once and for all.]

[ But first she had to deal with the incoming attack - stumbling back against the wall (ow) when the telekinetic force shoved her backwards, she tsk'd to herself as he freed himself from the yoyo - quickly reeling it back to her hand, and not a moment too soon! Those knives being hurled her way - -well Marinette does not want to be perforated thank you very much. Once again the yo-yo spins in front of her, and just as it had for the dragon's blasts, it acts as a shield, the knives impacting with the string and being deflected to land on the ground or simply being knocked away. ]
Come to your senses Professor! You're not supposed to be like this! [ She shouted over to him, pulling herself away from the building. At least she won't hold a grudge over anything. She palmed her yo-yo, for a moment looking worried. She hasn't used Lucky Charm twice in a battle before - she's not sure it'll work but her power IS supposed to work miracles.. and right now that's what she needed. ]
Okay Miraculous - help me out here. One more time, please..! Lucky Charm!
[ Once more she swung her yoyo into the air (wincing sharply at the movement). The yoyo spins one more time, summoning not one item, but two , much to her surprise. The first is a long nylon rope - the other is a small container, both items decorated with red and black spots. Marinette contemplated the two items for a moment, checking the contents of the container with a sniff. Ew. ... wait, lard? ... that might work. She glanced at Sycamore again, and this time broke into swift run, charging straight at him and swinging the rope around her head with one hand like she was about to hogtie an angry steer- swinging it forward to lasso the man. This is partly a distraction though, because with the other hand she's flipped the lid of the container of lard off and aims to shove it onto his hand - the one with the ring. If she manages to lasso him though she's still going to jerk him forward to lard up his hand, grabbing for that ring to yank it off! ]

However just he is about to attack her once more, he noticed that she turned her yo-yo into a lasso and swings it to his direction. Not wanted to be captured again, he quickly dodges the lasso as he sidesteps to his right.]
Nice try, but there is no way you can catch me ag-
[But his move is his downfall as his right hand is caught in the lard Ladybug is holding. The squid becomes shocked at this as the professor reacts the same way with his eyes widen in horror.]
No... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
[But it was too late for him to stop her as he helplessly watches her yank the ring off his hand. Once she did, something snapped in his mind, causing him to freeze in his place.]
Wh-Wh-What are... you... doing... W-What... am I... doing... H-How...
[As his dull eyes slowly begin to shine normally, Sycamore then falls on the ground as he becomes unconscious, signaling his defeat. However, this causes the squid to scream in anger at the sight of this scene.]

Professor? [ Ladybug knelt when he collapsed - the way he was sounding those last few moment were promising, but she glanced up sharply at the screech from the squid. ]

If Ladybug attempts to see her attacker, she may notice the squid creature approaches her slowly just as the man began to speak.]
Looks like this fight proves that you're a thorn to our plans after all.
[Suddenly, two more of the squid creatures appeared behind the first one as it starts to laugh evilly. It seems that they were using the man as a way to communicate the superheroine.]
We'll let you keep that man. It looks like his abilities were completely weak comparing to his Garchomp. However, that doesn't mean we will let you live.
[As he said this, the Mach Pokemon, which revealed that her eyes were dull just like the others, approaches the two humans and begins to charge some kind of purple energy from her mouth.]
As long you are dead, we, the Malamar, shall convert this world into our own very image!
[Unknown to Ladybug and the said Malamar, Sycamore is somehow having a strange dream. A dream of swords made of light.]

About to grab hold of Sycamore and pull him away, her eyes narrow at those Malamar things, moving in front of Sycamore to protect him. Although it looks like they were going after his pokemon as well and.. and that does NOT look like a good thing that's happening right now. She fumbles, reaching for her yoyo, her arm tired, sore and kind of numb. No matter her condition, she had to protect the civilian. ]
I'm afraid you're going to have a lot of problems with that idea. Even if I fall here, there are far more people than me out there that'll put an end to your schemes.

Then I will make sure they will fall. Nothing will stop us now that we have the professor's powerful Garchomp as our own personal weapon.
Besides, no matter what will they do, we will make sure they will fall. And nothing will able to stop us.
[As he said this, the purple energy stopped charging as Garchomp aims it to the two humans.]
With that, I bid you farewell.
[With those words, she may expect to have a Mach Pokemon to shoot off a Hyper Beam towards her direction. However, fate has other plans as Sycamore begins to stir. It seems that his dream of swords made of light begins to disturb him, which to a point that he gritted his teeth to endure.
And just as Garchomp fire the purple beam, Sycamore's eyes were quickly opened.]
NOOOO!!!
[He quickly wakes up from Ladybug's arms and just as he is up to his feet, several dagger-like blades made of light begin to appear near the professor. And without seeing at what he just made, he quickly launches them to his Garchomp. This scene quickly shocks the Malamar as they thought that he can merely use telekinesis on smaller objects.
But regardless of their reactions, that attack was enough to snap his Mach Pokemon out of her trance, which shocks the Dark/Psychic-type Pokemon even more.]
I don't know how I got here or why am I dressed like this, but I won't forgive anyone on abusing a Pokemon like a weapon! Especially to my dear friend!

That didn't come. She was just as surprised, caught off guard when Sycamore suddenly got to his feet and wielded those light blades, breaking the pokemon of its trance and surprising the Malamari. ]
Whoah... Professor, you're all right?

However, just seeing his Garchomp being brainwashed and the dream that seemingly warned him of "danger" is enough to make him realize the danger around him. And after seeing Ladybug carried him before his awakening, he turns and gives a genuine smile.]
I'm alright, young lady. But you should rest for a while. I'll try to deal with these Malamar until you have the energy to escape.
Don't worry, I'll join you after I distract them.
[Despite showing his brave face against the evil Pokemon, the three Malamar just laughs at his attempts as the man continued to be their personal translator/microphone.]
So, you're trying to be a hero despite we tried to use you as a scapegoat?
You're even more naive than we thought!
[Despite their mockery to him, Sycamore remained determined as he glares at them just as levitates several chairs and plates before he aims them to the Overturning Pokemon.]
That may be true, but I am not going to just run away and ignore an injured lady.
So you may treat this as my attempt to rescue a damsel in distress.
[With those words, he effortlessly throws the objects near the Malamar, which leaves dust clouds as they made contact to the ground. As soon he sees this, he is surprised that along with his sudden ability to summon 3 daggers made of light, his telekinesis has allowed carrying any medium-sized items. Although, even if he is aware of his sudden surge of his telekinesis powers, he is unaware that his new power began to drain most of his energy even more.
In fact, as soon he used his telekinesis with those said items, Sycamore began to lose his consciousness once more. Unfortunately, this leaves him open for a Shadow Ball attack that one of the Malamar made in an attempt to eliminate him.
Thankfully, his Garchomp manages to recover herself from their control as she uses Dragon Claw to block the attack before she grabs her now fainted trainer and the superheroine away from the villains.
As they see this, they can able to feel victorious that they are running away. Though they are also angry, realizing how powerful the professor's mysterious powers are along with the Mach Pokemon's power. Regardless, they feel that they will soon meet again in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Garchomp manages to find a nearby alley as she lets Ladybug off from her back.]

That's THREE of those things against one, I'm not about to just run off - that's not what I do! [ Though she was standing behind Sycamore, the face she made at being referred to as a damsel in distress was .. pretty damn funny, actually. Too bad he missed it! ]
I can still fight!
[ No you can't, Mari. Even though she starts to bring her hands up, the adrenaline starting to wear off and reminding her of the injuries she took. She could call for help - and just as she was about to reach for her communicator, Sycamore fainted. Crap. CRAP. She also didn't know the Professor could even do all that with his telekinesis - or that he /had/ telekinesis. Just as she was about to grab the Professor and try to pull him to safety, the Garchomp managed to block the attack - thankfully! Though she did let out a surprised yelp when the pokemon grabbed the both of them and they made their escape. Well, at least the people were free - except for that one man being used as their interpreter. Getting down from the Garchomp, Ladybug leaned against the alley wall with a heavy sigh, giving the garchomp a curious look before she checked on Sycamore. ]
I think... he's going to be okay, but he should still have someone check him out. [ Because..injuries. Natch. How smart were these things, she wondered. ]
Can you take him to a hospital? [ Does it even understand 'hospital'? Well if it looked confused still she would guide them both to one - in any case she would likely do that anyway, just to make sure he got there safely. ]

But unknown to her and Ladybug, looks like the control on some residents haven't been released yet. Which means there will be another confrontation very soon.]
