[ Yuri had had his new powers for all two days, and having shown what he could do now to everyone who mattered most, it was time to take these new skills of his out on the town. That was to say- it was time for an adolescent tiger to skulk around... Or, a part-boy, part-tiger sometimes. Look- it wasn't so easy to hold his wicked awesome new form, okay? He had to get the hang of it. He seemed to do best when he was really, really excited- it had been no big deal to pounce on Otabek and Eddie in this form, but holding it for more than a couple of minutes? Still tricky. He could keep his ears, paws, and tails for seemingly as long as he wanted to- when he got angry (which was often, realistically speaking) his fangs would grow in, teeth becoming sharp and dangerous as his claws formed too. But it wouldn't be the super cool rad awesome power it could be until he could figure out how to master it, right?II. In the forests of the night » Faerie Lights
It would be clear if anyone got close enough, that he wasn't exactly a full grown tiger. lithe and lanky, the adolescent boy was also an adolescent tiger- but that didn't matter to him. With all his white fur and black stripes, he just thought that he looked badass. He tried to stick to places that people wouldn't notice him- alleyways, empty parks, quiet places as he got used to bounding around on four paws, getting a feel for heightened senses and so much muscle. Yuri leaped into trees teen feet high just because he could. He was having an absolute blast-
Not really thinking how it might have looked to the average person to have a white tiger just roaming around the city like it was no big deal. Maybe you heard a commotion, someone screaming in fright because of a sighting of Yuri- or maybe you caught him playing, chasing butterflies and birds as he got a feel for his four legged form. Maybe you caught him mid-transformation, half boy and half tiger and no clue how to control going back to one or the other- so far, it sort of seemed like luck. Whatever the reason, Yuri was doing his best to have fun. ]
[ Honestly, the little gnat-like baubles of light were beginning to become an extremely huge annoyance. There was only one person Yuri wanted to kiss, and that wasn't usually who he was nearby when he caught sight of those horrible little balls. He wondered if taking a fly swatter to them would have kept them away; it was tempting to carry one around in his back pocket just to find out. For the most part, Yuri had been lucky. Dodging and avoiding the stupid little faeries on his way around the city; to and from the gym or the rink, Otabek's apartment and his own. But even with all the grace of a prima ballerina, the focus of a professional athlete- even Yuri's luck was bound to run out.III. What immortal hand or eye » Skating Rink
Now he's trapped in a bubble, and man does he look pissed. ]
You have got to be kidding me. This is shit- no offense [ (Full offense.) ] But I am not kissing you. I don't just pucker up because some dumb ass bugs floating above my head have said I have to. Forget that; I have a boyfriend!
[ His ears were out, now. Rounded soft tufted white tiger ears, flat against his head in annoyance as he banged on the invisible barrier. ] HEY. TAKE THIS STUPID SHIT DOWN!
[ It was going to be a long hour, if he kept shouting like that. ]
[ As fun as it was to run around as a tiger, Yuri wouldn't for one second let himself slack on his career. Just because Riverview paused time back home, didn't mean he could just let himself take an extended break. He didn't want to go home sloppy. No, Yuri spent almost as much time on the ice as he did training at the gym, and certainly more time on the ice than he did doing his school work. That was all right, though. He was ahead of his own grade already.IV. Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
That was the nice thing of not attending public school; he could do his classes at his own pace, even if that meant beasting through as much maths as possible, just to get it out of the way.
He missed his tutor, though. Missed Michael- the lab wasn't the same without him, and it hurt to know that Yuri had lost someone else. He shouldn't have been angry about it, Michael had a home to go to, people who weren't Yuri that were depending on him. It was fine. Just because he was gone didn't mean Yuri would stop working hard. But Yuri had always found that, when he needed to take his mind off of something, skating was his answer.
He was working on a new routine, had been at it for days. Smoothing out choreography during public skates, attracting a growing crowd and a dozen offers and requests for him to teach his skills.
But right then, Yuri really wasn't interested. First, he had other plans- wanted to see if he could get some sort of competitive skating or ice show going as a larger thing in Riverview. He missed the competitive edge that Figure Skating allowed, and while Otabek was great company, he was also Yuri's only real competition. That was kind of... boring. Sure, there were plenty of Riverviewites who knew how to skate. Some of them even had basic skills to get better at what Yuri did- but actual bred and practiced figure skaters? Not so much. Not yet. Throwing himself into a vicious triple axel, Yuri did his best to put his thoughts on his routine. Land, slide, step sequence- one, two, three. Arms up, arms down, twist- get ready for a toe loop, followed by a lutz. The choreography seemed wrong, especially when Yuri's hand touched the ice, and he snarled.
Would go at it all afternoon, practice until he couldn't stand, unless someone wanted to interrupt him. ]

How'd you two meet, anyway?
[ Cisco knows they are from the same world, knows that it was probably something related to skating (if only because, from the sound of it, Yuri's entire world until he'd been brought to this place had revolved around skating, and training to skate, and dreaming of victory). But even though the two of them have grown closer, living together in the same space, Yuri has never been big on telling stories about his life back home. Cisco has learned that most of the time, his harmless curious questions make Yuri snap defensively, like he's being interrogated. So he had just given up, at a certain point.
He gestures at the clue, urging: ]
What's it say?

I had a ballet class with him five years ago. He didn't remember, though. We met again in December at the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona. I found him when he was being chased by fangirls.
[ Heh. He's amused by that memory. He remembers Yuri getting on his bike and them going to spend time together through Barcelona. He remembers the time at the cafe. He remembers competing together. And then remembers helping Yuri with his exhibition skate thanks to the others urging. He remembers it all. And that was before they even got here.
Finally, though, his eyes glance down at the note with the clue. ]
It says... "People couldn't look away as we waltzed arm in arm."
[ His voice trails and there's a shift in his expression, as he he is sharing something that he shouldn't, even though he knows that there is ultimately nothing to be embarrassed about... He reads the rest of it to himself. It just felt like such a private moment, even though they were out in the park, dancing for anyone's eyes to see. ]
"In the fading light, to the tune of a busker- I couldn't look away from you."
[ It doesn't take more than a moment. ]
I know where to go.
[ Without sharing exactly where it was. ]

Fangirls? Did Yuri have fangirls?
[ Cisco knows he was a hotshot skater, and incredibly hardworking and talented, but he hadn't thought of that as something one is famous for. He supposes there are people who are really into figure skating. But fans? Of a particular skater? That's just weird to him
He waits anxiously while Otabek reads the note, worried what he will do or say if Otabek has no clue where to go next. Fortunately, his fears are superfluous. Otabek clearly understands the clue, and knows where the next clue is. Cisco smiles broadly, gesturing for the door. ]
Go on, then. He's waiting for you.
[ And Cisco will absolutely be texting Yuri a progress report, once Otabek leaves, to let Yuri know he's on the right track. ]

[ There's some emphasis on this fact in his voice. It doesn't really surprise him that Yuri has fans. Especially fangirls. He's beautiful and graceful on the ice. He's exactly the sort of thing a figure skating fan would want to see and become a fan of. If he thought about it, Otabek was a fan of Yuri himself. He really enjoyed watching the other skate, and even if he hadn't ended up pursuing the sport, he would have definitely followed Yuri's career. But now, he was glad that he chose to. He had the life he did now because of it. He had Yuri because of it. ]
They're called Yuri's Angels.
I think.
[ He pulls a face. It's certainly the first time Cisco would have ever seen the so stoic Otabek look so put-off by something. ]
And they're aggressively passionate.
[ His tone sounds polite, but the words themselves...imply that maybe these fans take it a bit too far from time to time. As extreme fans did in any sport, really. In reality, it's fans that have taught him how to be private and maintain his own privacy, but they have also made it difficult for him to open up to others. They were famous in their home countries, so keeping themselves from ending up in something that would look bad was important. It could hurt their sponsorships, and therefore careers. ]
Thank you, though.
[ A nod towards the note. ]

[ Cisco is absolutely going to have to ask Yuri about this later. There's no way he's gone this long without mentioning he has a following by accident. Probably he is annoyed or embarrassed by it, which is absolutely why Cisco is going to have to gently tease him about it, because that's just the sort of friend that he is. ]
I mean I knew he was supposed to be a big deal or whatever, I guess I just never thought about it.
[ To Cisco, Yuri is just the guy who lives in the same apartment as him, who he catches doing weird stretches in the kitchen while he eats his breakfast. Who plays his music too loud sometimes and always smiles and shakes his head just a little any time one of the cats does something stupid and then tries to pretend it never happened. It's weird, to think of him being someone well-known, much less someone with 'aggressively passionate' fans. ]
You're welcome. You should go, he's waiting for you.

[ The two of them come from such different worlds, really. To Otabek, the thought of a following isn't that strange. In fact, it was why he kept his personal Instagram on a lockdown at home. He didn't want fans or people he didn't trust to follow him to his shows where he was working as a DJ. And that way, only people he genuinely liked and trusted were able to see the things he shared. To call some of the fans of the sport ... exuberant would be an understatement. It bordered on stalkerish sometimes. ]
Yuri competed against the best in the world and won gold.
[ He thinks that might put it in perspective. It would make sense for someone to want to be a fan of someone who is winning gold medals. Not that he thinks he is one of the best in the world, necessarily. He's always been considered an unknown - a dark horse. He had his own fans in Kazakhstan, sure. But he didn't have anything quite like Yuri's fans. They were a wild bunch. ]
You're right.
[ So, that's what he does. He turns on a heel, and makes his way out of the restaurant so that he can go to the park where they danced on their first date. ]
