[It doesn't really matter that much, who drinks the potion first, the end result is the same: six white threads, the colour of bonds, stretching out between them. There are three that go nowhere in particular, for Merle, Davenport, and Barry, but the other three have definite ends.

[Magnus gets a laugh from that. If anyone could live forever, it'd be Taako.]

Alright, shoot. I think I'm ready for it. [The kiss certainly improved his mood for it.]

[Taako props himself up a little, so that he can see Magnus better and be seen in return, then...

Drops his spell.]

I, um, there were these liches? They were running this fucked up game show and we had to like, give stuff away to stay alive and this is what I gave away. So this is my face. Now.

[He knows, logically, that Magnus doesn't give a shit what he looks like, but that doesn't take away the anxiety fluttering in his chest.]

[At first he only cranes his neck to look, but once he realizes what Taako's trying to show him he sits up in acknowledgement. The difference is striking. And it's upsetting—not in the sense that Magnus will miss his looks, because he doesn't care, obvi. It's upsetting because he knows how Taako sees himself. He knows what that loss means to him.

He thinks maybe a speech on why beauty is superficial and unimportant and "you look fine the way you are!" is probably not gonna make Taako feel any better about it.

So, instead, he takes Taako's hand and gives it a light squeeze, and offers up his most sympathetic smile.]

I'm not goin' anywhere.

[You are isn't helpful and it isn't relevant to the discussion at the moment, because Taako knows that what Magnus is saying is that this doesn't change anything for him and that's what he needed to hear.]

You better not be, cha boy's learned a few tricks in the past decade and we're only just getting started.

[He throws in a wink, just to add to the ridiculousness of the statement, but he hopes that Magnus knows that he appreciates what was said. It's just hard to acknowledge it sometimes.]

[By now Magnus has pretty much learned to understand how Taako says thank you. And it literally never involves the words thank you.]

Yeah? Are we talkin' magic tricks, or...

[He waggles an eyebrow at that.]

[Taako hums a laugh, idly tapping his fingers against Magnus's chest. There's still a lot they need to work through, but he feels like they've done enough for today, between the ichor and everything that came afterwards.]

That depends on how you feel about tentacles...

[stop this.]

[Oh Jeezy Creezy, he has no idea how he feels about this. His face falls in surprise.]

Is, uh, is that a joke, buddy?

[Followed by nervous laughter.

[Oh no, that's even a better reaction than he was hoping for. Taako laughs, before leaning in to press a kiss to Magnus's cheek.]

I'm just fucking with you, dude, casting that spell would kill you for sure and that's not my thing.

[Well, not counting Kravitz, but that's different.]

You did miss a pretty wild week here, though, they had a whole festival for kinks.

[Telling him the spell would kill him is supposed to ease his nerves??? ...Well whatever he gets over it.]

Are you kidding me? I had to miss that? [There's a slight sarcastic tone in an attempt to imply that he isn't interested, but... Well.] Sounds like it's right up your alley, huh. Was it fun?

You trying to say something about me?

[That's very rude?

Except he's just kidding, judging by the way he nudges Magnus so he's lying on his back again, then very dramatically drapes himself across Magnus's chest.]

I was with Eddie at the time so, you know, didn't get too experimental.

[Things he hasn't told Magnus: that.]

Aw, c'mon. You know I'm kidding.

[He plays along as Taako pushes him back into the bed. But when he hears Eddie's name, he worries.]

Who's Eddie? [He's attempting to sound genuinely curious here.]

At least Lup's brave enough to actually call me a slut.

[Taako really isn't a slut, but that's not the point of this argument (he's not entirely sure what the point of the argument is), he's just messing with Magnus.]

Oh, just some dude I kinda fooled around with for a while. I guess we were dating? [He's about to say more, when something seems to occur to him, and Taako raises an eyebrow.] Wait, hold up, are you jealous?

Oh, no, no no no no no. [He waves his hands in denial.] I just, uh, I know a guy named Eddie and I wonder if it's the same guy. Cisco's roommate?

[He doesn't know whether this is like, just some ex or a bad ex and he doesn't accidentally wanna be friends with a bad ex.]

[Taako almost looks disappointed, but only because he's a self-centered jackass.]

That's the same guy, how do you know him? Unless the answer is cause he's Cisco's roommate, I already know that one, obviously.

[Obviously.

He lightly taps a finger against the tip of Magnus's nose.]

We're cool though, it was just like, he wanted something with a future. And you know me.

[Magnus knows the very awkward year they had after someone got too many feelings.]

Mhm. [He rolls his eyes, but not without humor. It's been more than long enough that all that drama has been left in the past.] I do know you. Pretty damn well.

Actually, we met at the gym. Well, we met at a bar, because we knew each other from the gym. It's complicated. You don't interrupt someone's routine. [You don't.] I didn't even realize he was Cisco's roommate until later.

Gonna take your word for that one, bubbale. [The gym thing.] He's a good dude, actually kinda reminded me of you a little.

[He says it with a shrug, but - Eddie was one of the first people he befriended in this place, and the similarities to Magnus made that easier.]

[Yeah, Magnus can definitely see the similarities. They met at the gym, for crying out loud. Although, the way Taako says that is interesting.]

You datin' guys that remind you of me?

[Once upon a time that may have stung a little, since Taako never wanted that with Magnus, but that was, like, at least 60 years ago. Maybe more? He's had enough time to realize he doesn't really want that with Taako, either. Things are fine as they are. Anyway, he's only teasing Taako.]

[Taako leans in for another kiss, light and gentle and maybe just a little bit of a distraction as he tries to think of a way to answer that. Even if Magnus is teasing, he feels like maybe for once in his fucking life he should be honest with his response.

It's been... hard, the past few weeks.

When he breaks the kiss, Taako rests his head against Magnus's, closing his eyes and sighing softly.]

I couldn't-- I didn't remember this. At first. But I was lonely, guess I just went after something that felt, you know, familiar. Or whatever.

[That felt safe, the way Magnus does.]

[Aw, that's actually really sweet. He's not going to keep teasing Taako after such an admission. Taako's leaned into him in such a way that Magnus can wrap an arm around him and cradle him.]

I get that. I actually felt the same way, these past few weeks. Being around you.

[It's no wonder that waking up next to Taako a few weeks ago, even without the memories, felt right.]

[This is nice, he really did miss this.]

It's kinda the same in Fearun, like - when I met you and Merle I could not for the life of me figure why I trusted you two dipshits. Well, I mean, as much as I trusted anyone.

[He wonders if he should explain, that memories without Lup and a decade alone left him... different, colder and harder and more closed off. But he'd rather focus on the good shit right now.]

[He laughs, and he can't even disagree when Taako calls him a dipshit. Like, he's not wrong.]

I guess that just means we're doomed to bump into each other no matter how far we end up. Looks like you're stuck with me, buddy.

[He gives Taako another kiss on the forehead. And then he yawns. How long have they been talking?]

[Idly, Taako finds the thread connecting him to Magnus and twists it around his fingers, giving it a little tug.]

Guess that's a bond for ya.

[The version of himself without Lup would have been terrified of this, the definitive connection to people that he can't run or hide from, but now it just feels comforting.

When Magnus yawns, Taako hums, amused, and takes a moment to get settled.]

Did I wear you out, pumpkin?

[He slides into the bedcovers, nodding and mm-hmming as he does so.]

I had kind of a big day today.

[He almost blacked out drinking a mysterious liquid, nbd.]

[Taako clicks his tongue and makes a little aww sound, just a bit teasing. All things considered, he thinks Magnus had this pretty easy, with the ichor, but he's not petty enough to hold that against him.]

Okay, okay, we can nap for like, an hour, and then you gotta go say hi to Lulu or she'll kill me for keeping you to myself.

[Magnus grins, already dozing off.]

Yeah, sure. Just a few hours.

[Weakly, he tugs on Taako's arm, in an effort to pull him into a cuddle.]
