[ Loki steps in politely, his face a careful mask of bland feeling. The anger, for the most part, has died down but Loki can hold grudges forever. And that's not a metaphor. ]

Will it happen again?

[scholiast]

(Likewise, Lucretia's expression is carefully neutral as she answers.)

No, it won't. (She really hadn't been planning on it happening in the first place, after all.)

[ A moment of weakness. Anger. Loki can understand those and he's not likely to judge either of them for it. But he got scared and Loki dislikes being scared. His world is small. He can't afford to let it shrink. ]

Why did it happen? I do not need to know all of it.

[ The details aren't important. The feeling is. Loki needs to know if such a feeling will rear its head. ]

(Okay, he's kind of pushing it with the questions. Lucretia gives him a long, searching look before she answers.)

He was angry, and started a fight. Eventually he brought something up he knew would hurt me, and I attacked him.

[ She took everything from me. Angry wouldn't begin to cover it, but it is complicated. Family generally is. Even now, Loki can't fully distance himself from his own complications. ]

A momentary lapse, then. Thank you for your time.

[scholiast]

(Oh, is that it.)

Sure. (Then, before he can go:)

Is... is he okay?

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki pauses. What should he say? ]

He will recover. He has no lack of people.

[ A beat. ]

Will you?

[scholiast]

(A little cryptic for her taste, but acceptable.)

Good.

And yes, I'll be fine. (Eventually.) Thank you, Loki.

[ It wasn't his place to give a straight answer. Loki won't jeopardize his friendship with Taako for anything. He tilts his head in acknowledgement before leaving. ]
