flower festival

In the days leading up to April 2nd, residents new and old may notice advertising around the city, everywhere from digital screens to paper flyers pasted on blank walls, all advertising an upcoming holiday: The Flower Festival. Celebrating springtime, beauty, joy, and togetherness, the festival heavily features floral themes and dancing. The advertising mentions that on April 10th, a paid holiday, there will be a Blossom Picnic, as well as lists of various public dances at clubs or other open venues, and adult raves.

a celebration of spring

The Flower Festival's main event is the Blossom Picnic on April 10th, but it also features traditions of sharing food and drink, and dancing that span over the course of the whole two weeks. There are a large variety of events going on throughout the city, from dancing lessons in any wide variety of traditional dances, to old-fashioned sock hops, to adult raves complete with mild party drugs. Feel free to use the prompts below or create your own event at any point during the festival, and if your character creates an event and hosts it in a top-level, you can submit that thread for extra bonus points.

i. blossom picnic

The main event that kicks off the second week of the Flower Festival is the Blossom Picnic on April 10th. A relaxed and low-key event, it draws several thousand people every year to the spacious Riverview Central Park, where there is a generous lawn lined with various blossoming trees, and families, found families, lovers, and groups of friends are encouraged to lay out a picnic blanket and share food. There will be live bands playing (but not loudly enough to distract from conversation and peacefully watching the petals flutter in the wind), a variety of demonstrations of traditional cultural dances from many different realities and planets, and a ton of ice cream vendors. This is an excellent festival not only for celebrating togetherness with the people who are already important, but for mingling and making new friends.

Characters may either pack their own lunches or they can purchase pre-packed Blossom Festival lunches. Stores and street markets are carrying a wide variety of specialty food that is only available at this time of year - predominantly pastries, an assortment of types of candies, and ice cream treats all in various floral flavors, as well as a sort of ambrosia salad based around a sweet rose-flavored cream and a native fruit that is bright green and tastes like a combination of peach and citrus.

ii. dancing lessons

Starting on April 2nd, there will be dancing lessons offered almost everywhere you look! From partner dances to group dances to line dances; sexy and sensual or innocent and childlike - almost any type of dance you can imagine is represented, from any reality or planet that has people in Riverview Quarantine.

Additionally, the Riverview Central Community Center has multiple rooms blocked off so anyone who knows a dance from home can teach it to others in their community - sharing is caring, after all. Characters are welcome to block off one of these rooms and offer lessons in any dance they happen to know from home (and these sorts of thread starters would be eligible for the mingle AC Point bonus)!

iii. flower festival dancing

This is pretty simply what it says on the tin - in almost every club, community center, or other public space, there will be dancing at almost all hours of the day or night, formal and informal. Musicians bring out their instruments and play in the street for demonstrations of cultural dances and music at the same time as clubs are offering VIP cover charges for exclusive dances, and you can find anything in between.

There are also many low-cover-charge raves that allow under-18s so younger characters can stay up all night and dance like crazy. The legal drinking age in Riverview Quarantine is 14, and so anyone over 14 can enter and indulge in a few drinks, dancing, and playing tag with a non-intoxicating version of the colored powder featured at the adult raves. There is copious amounts of security on site to ensure that everyone is safe, as well as nurses and off-duty police officers to offer advice or care for anyone who overindulges out of lack of experience.

Grab a partner, a group of friends, or just cruise and mingle the various dancing events.

Characters may also notice that most of the street markets and clothing shops are offering clothing that features floral patterns, flowers as accessories, and that show a lot of skin - for men, women, and anyone in between!

iv. adult raves

Advertised on flyers and digital screens around the city, made to pop as if they were under blacklight, is a series of adult raves that are happening in various large empty warehouse spaces around the city, including one that is listed as the danger rave and hosted in an abandoned factory outside the inhabited city walls. With bouncers at the door to ensure that anyone entering is 18+, the raves are comfortably adult in nature. Clothing is optional, showing skin is encouraged, and there are a lot of neatly tucked away spaces for attendees to get some time alone with one or more than one person, as well as spaces intended for orgies. The atmosphere is sex-positive and non-judgemental, open to any orientation or preference, with various forms of protection available for free, however, to ensure that everyone plays safe there are sober security teams out en masse at all premises to oversee the events.

(CW: DRUG USE) In each location, there is one specific room where attendees can enter, and dance or play tag with brightly colored powder that contains small amounts of a legal party drug commonly available in Riverview, which is absorbed through the skin. Not much more intoxicating than having a few beers, the effects of the drug are a pleasant low-key buzzing euphoria, positive sensitivity to touch, a heightening of desires for intimacy, and a mild lowering of inhibitions. Once a character has been hit with the powder, the color lingers on the skin so other attendees can know who has partaken, but once the powder makes contact with a surface it deactivates, meaning that partakers can safely dance with non-partakers without sharing the intoxicating effects.

Please be sure to warn in subject lines for any threads involving drug use. And remember, there is always security to intervene and make sure everyone is safe.

[He's never kissed like this before. He's never been kissed like this before. Usually the kisses are deep and hungry, full of fire and passion and urgency, like it's racing ahead to an inevitable finish, but doesn't want to really take any time getting there. This kiss is...softer. Gentler. Teasing. Hungry, yes, but delicately so. Jason actually has to lean against the bar a little bit to steady himself, careful not to hurt Loki's own hand in he process.

He smiles into the kiss and opens his mouth just a little bit, teasing Loki's tongue with his own.

He leans into the kiss and his free hand reaches up, his gloved hand cupping Loki's cheek. It's nearly as good as his saying, I'm not going anywhere.]

Mmmm ...

[ Jason's smile prompts one from Loki, chasing a teasing tongue with broader licks until he can kiss him properly; every corner of that hot mouth is explored, behind teeth and along the ridges on the roof, finally sucking on him like he wants to elsewhere and at greater length. Shifts in angle give him the opportunity to nip at Jason's kiss-swollen lips, a little harder each time, and Loki rakes his nails along a scalp in a slow drag, scraping down his nape until a collar stops his progress.

Still smearing nibbles across what he can of plump red lips, he purrs, ] You taste nice, Jay.

[ Still just high enough on gold-dust to be a little too honest. ]

Smooch, smooch, smoooooooch!

[He has to admit that the name 'Silvertongue' is suddenly making a whole lot of sense now. Jason's hand moves from cupping Loki's cheek to running through his hair, but the gloves are still on. He can't feel anything, and suddenly all he wants to do is touch Loki. Feel the sensation of his smooth, glossy hair and gold-dusted skin under his own hands. He reaches up with his other hand, moaning softly into Loki's mouth when Loki nibbles on his lips, and pulls his gloves off. He breaks the kiss for a moment - what feels like too long of a moment - and presses his forehead against Loki's, part of it touching the golden horn thing he's wearing. He runs his hand through Loki's hair, gently, marveling at how soft it feels under him, in direct opposition to Loki's hard, lean body.]

Just nice? [He leans in again, kissing Loki gently before seizing his lower lip with his teeth and gently biting, pulling.] Because you're leaving me kind of breathless over here.

[ A whine can't be helped when his lip is tugged like that. Jason may as well have pulled all of Loki in because that's where he sways, pressing in from thigh to chest. ]

I'm ... totally unaffected.

[ Like a thief in the night he steals as many moans from Jason as possible, shivering noticeably when fingers brush the back of Loki's neck. The horns are a pain to keep navigating so he pulls them off easily and sets them on the bar, no way of their being held up in sight when long curtains fall to frame his answering smile. Loki tugs on the cropped jacket, infiltrating it with searching digits. ]

You want us to take something to drink with us when we leave?

[ Jason can take his pick from the bar, Loki will pay. In magic sneakery. ]

[God damn if Jason doesn't like the feel of Loki pressed up against him like that. He lowers his hands down, draping an arm across Loki's back, pulling him in closer and kissing him deeply.] Funny. You don't feel unaffected.

[He grins at Loki but pulls his hips back just a little. His clothes are tighter than usual in all the wrong places, and he's going to need a second.]

Honestly? I'd like to be as sober for this as possible. But if you want to grab something to drink...I'm not opposed.

[ Pulled in, he lets a cant of his hips press the bulge in his pants into the crook of Jason's thigh, all but poured on top of him as they kiss. It's only when Jason puts some meagre space between them that Loki's brain reboots and he remembers there is a world beyond the heat of a hot mouth and press of a firm body. ]

I want champagne so I can rinse my mouth out with something that tastes as fine as you.

[ Atop the back of the bar a bottle poofs! up in green smoke, vanishing on the spot, and as the bartender yelps in alarm Loki's uncaring laughter rings out. He draws Jason back in for a kiss and murmurs, ] Close your eyes.

[ Teleporting with another person is easily done but best when a warning is given. Loki's is the golden light that surrounds them, intensifying until the rave is out of sight and when it's possible to once more look around, the scene is very different. Whereas the rave was hot and sweaty, the bedroom is cool and recently unused with rows of beds in varying states of disarray and paraphernalia from each occupant spread over the bedside tables. Silence replaces thumping music. A bottle of champagne sits on a table next to a bed covered in brocaded fabric and thick furs.

Loki raises a hand at the door and it briefly flashes around the edges with a green glimmer, then he looks back to Jason. ]

I've locked them out, not locked us in. You can leave whenever you want.

[ Just to be clear on that. Magic unnerves some, it's best to explain what he's done. ]

[Jason has to hand it to Loki. The man's smoother than even Bruce, and Jason's observed Bruce commanding a gaggle of socialites with his carefree, roguish attitude. Granted, where Bruce was concerned, such things were usually a hard-shell plastic veneer over the dark, troubled man who pretended to be something he wasn't. Loki felt oddly real, which was weird, considering all of the magic. Humans and aliens, scientifically engineered monsters, these things Jason was all too familiar and intimate with. He'd been raised around magic as well, but magic was always wildly unpredictable.

So, too, it seemed, was chemistry. When the day had started, this isn't anywhere near where Jason thought his day was going to go. Dancing with Wanda had been one thing. This...this was another thing entirely.

He smiles at Loki, equal parts charming and charmed, and steps up to Loki as he slips his leather jacket off.]

Crazy as it might seem, I kind of trust you, and I don't really plan on leaving anytime soon.

[ His gaze softens when he hears Jason trusts him and, unbeknown to the other man who speaks so freely, it seals Loki's decision to spoil him rotten in return. Those words are rarely if ever spoken to the godling and mean more than they might to someone who isn't first and foremost (reputably) a creature built of lies. ]

As a heads up, I'm going to try and steal your jacket sometime. I like it. [ Chuckling, he leans in to meet Jason with a lingering kiss. Black nails scrape at Jason's sides, seeking out actual muscle beneath the rubber guard of his top. ] Where are you, hm? Do I need a secret password to unlock this shirt ...

[ Stupid red bat. That gets some scratches too. ]

You're speaking to a former street thief, handsome. You might be able to magic it away, but I always get back what's mine. [Okay, not always, but he literally did get his life back after losing it once, so the cockiness isn't entirely unwarranted.] But if you get the jacket, does that mean I get to wear the horns?

[Smirking, he kisses Loki again, passionate, hungry, but with a measure of tenderness. He reaches to his chest, where Loki's trying to scratch the emblem off, and takes one of Loki's hands in his own, his fingers gently caressing Loki's own, thumb gliding over Loki's soft, warm palm. He guides the hand up to the high collar of his top, where there's a small, silver bat-shaped pull tab. A part of Jason is thrilled that Loki hasn't just magicked all of Jason's clothes off, as he half expected him to do.]

Can't make it too easy, can I?

If they don't fall off your head, sure ...

[ Cute, that Jason-The-Former-Thief aims to steal from Loki, Ivar would tell him to take a certain godling as his patron.

Snagging the tab, he peels it all the way down while nudging Jason to back up by the bed, parting his top with the brush of interested hands. Loki's mouth is warm-wet when he dips away from their kisses to transfer them down Jason's throat, seeking out scars to trace with his tongue. ]

You need to invest in some t-shirts.

[Any snarky, smart-alecky remarks that Jason would have made are suddenly silenced. Well, not silenced, but Loki starts with the kissing and with the tongue and the tracing of the scars and a moan escapes his lips. Fingers delicately run through Loki's dark hair and he tries to steady his breathing.]

You...want to talk about me putting on clothes at a time like this?

Easier access for next time.

[ Breathy purrs roam Jason's chest and with hands encircling his waist, Loki guides him backward to the bed a few steps away. It will be so much simpler to map out the scars littering Jason's chest if the godling can straddle him, wanting him pinned in place as ghostly silver lines and more recent ridges tell interesting stories about Jason's history. Loki wants to know them all. ]

I want to make you come, Jason. Show me how.

[ He nibbles his way to a nipple, catching it between his teeth and flirting with it with his tongue. ]

Mmm. That takes the fun out of it.

[I's oddly easy for Jason to become putty in Loki's hands. If Loki had meant any harm at all, Jason was sure it would have happened by now, but no. Loki seems tender, playful, inquisitive. Maybe a little passionate. It's easy to get lost in this, and Jason doesn't mind getting lost in it, even though he's rarely one who gives up control quite so easily.

He gasps, throwing his head back. Okay, so nipples? Definitely an erogenous zone for Jason. He steadies himself against Loki, blood rushing away from places he needs it to other places.]

I think you already kind of know, handsome. [As he says this, he fumbles for Loki's own pants. No way is this going to be a one way street tonight. Jason wants to get to know Loki just as badly.]

But there's a lot I need to learn tonight too. Teach me?

[ Jason has him laughing under his breath as Loki crawls on top of him on the lush bed of furs, tangling their legs instead of straddling him when he feels touches dipping for his zipper. He'll return to those sensitive nipples shortly, but first, since Jason is so eager to learn ... ]

Wrap your hand around me, stroke slow and even. Don't hurry.

[ Part of his craving is an almost slow-burn denial of what he wants more, the sweet torture sending shivers down his spine even before Jason unfastens those pants (at least Loki doesn't have to worry about underwear, that was never an issue tonight). He braces his weight on a bent arm besides Jason's head and idly traces the marks on a scarred chest as he lets him explore in return, lashes hooding heavily with arousal. Behind denim lies the bulge of a stiff, seven-inch slender erection, ready to spring into warm hands, wet at the tip with precome and hotter than any other part of the godling's body. Except his mouth. ]
