[i: Sparring partners; CLOSED to Ivar Ragnarsson]
[Bucky spends a lot of his time out in the abandoned city, even sleeping there some nights when the feel of people all around him becomes a bit too much to handle. He's doing better than he was when he arrived here, he's even spoken to Steve fairly courteously once, but he's got a long way to go and he still prefers to do it alone.
Which is why he's out in the city training himself, running between buildings, jumping and vaulting various debris fields, and occasionally testing his acrobatic skills with flips and kicks off one surface to catch hold of another. What he's not expecting, after jumping one particularly large gap between rooftops, is to land by a man on the ground.
At first he thinks it's someone hurt, until he recognises the man that fought him when he was recently arrived and remembers how he couldn't use his legs. It's pretty impressive that he got up this far, let alone out here to the abandoned city in the first place.]
You okay?
[He was just going to go, but maybe Ivar really is hurt and can't get down.]
[ii: Meals on wheels; CLOSED to Dick Grayson]
[There have been a couple of times while Bucky has been skulking around the city that he's seen the man he doused in yoghurt, still patrolling in that costume. He knows his name now, made sure to look it up based on the usernames and the apartment - Dick Grayson. Not that he plans on using it, he just likes to have all the information, it can be the difference between life and death.
But what he doesn't realise is that he's the one that's been spotted tonight by Dick, as he slips out into the abandoned city and turns into one of the nearby ruins. A sleeping bag and rucksack are already stashed there, along with a surprising array of weapons. He slides into his sleeping bag, sat up against the wall, completely unaware that he's not alone... for now.]
[iii: Magic and Mayhem; CLOSED to Stephen Strange]
[Bucky has very few things that he would count as personal possessions. His weapons, clothes, and sleeping bag were all just tools that could pass in and out of his ownership without him caring that much. Though he would never like to be unarmed, he could always find more weapons if he lost these.
But he had a book that was precious to him. Just a tattered little notebook which was a quarter full of news clippings of all the various Avengers, some information both bought and stolen from the Smithsonian gift shop, and several choppy paragraphs in his own handwriting. Notes on information he's found out, memories that have resurfaced, that sort of thing.
He's sitting on the rooftop of one of the buildings in the main city, riffling through the book, when a sudden gust of wind catches it and sends it out of his hands and over the side to land at either at the feet of, or directly on the head of, the poor unsuspecting person walking by.
Sorry, Stephen.]
[iv: Dance lessons; CLOSED to Ellie]
[The flower festival isn't exactly Bucky's natural habitat, but he keeps finding himself drawn to the dance lessons and performances in the various open park areas. He doesn't really remember dancing himself, it's definitely not something the Soldier has ever done even though he has the dexterity for it, but it feels familiar.
So even though spending so much time in the crowds goes against a lot of his instincts, Bucky keeps finding himself back in the throng.
It's where he is that morning, sat with his back against a tree to make it slightly harder to sneak up on him from behind, intently watching a couple perform an exhibition piece in the style of swing dancing. These are the ones he likes the best, the ones that feel the most oddly familiar, and he has an almost peaceful expression as he watches.]
[v: Running into you; CLOSED to Tony Stark]
[Bucky spends a lot of his time either hiding, skulking in the shadows, or moving at a carefully steady pace through crowds so as not to attract attention. But sometimes he just needs to blow off steam, sometimes he just needs to burn through the excess energy that the bastardised serum gives him.
Which is why he's running.
He's at least chosen a time when he doesn't think anyone else will be near the outskirts of the city, and he's running down side streets and back alleys rather than the main streets, but he is pushing himself all out. Running faster than a normal human could, vaulting trash cans and practically skidding around corners.
It's probably lucky he hasn't crashed into anyone before now...]
[vi: Festival Fun; CLOSED to Suigetsu Houzuki]
[This festival, much like the last festival, is a good place to gather free food. The stall vendors are often so busy that they don't notice a little something here or there going missing, and lots of people end up buying food that they can't finish and just abandon. Which is why one suspicious hobo type is now casually wandering the picnic area, stooping as if to tie his shoe every so often when he's really stealing leftovers.
Don't mind him...]
[vii: A serious talk; CLOSED to Clark Kent]
[See the comments for starter.]
[viii: Kites and trees; SEMI-OPEN to anyone plotted with on the CR meme]
[Bucky has spent most of the flower festival skirting the main events, on the fringes of the crowds, or watching from a distance. But some things keep drawing him in deeper, like leftovers at the picnic area, or dance contests, or the smell of food.
To anyone wandering, he can be found in the following places:
i) staring into the window of a bakery as if the pies on display have the answer to life.
ii) up a tree in the park, watching a dance demonstration like a skulking creeper
iii) flying a kite that he got pressured into buying, sitting on the grass in a relatively secluded area. If this kite accidentally drops and wraps around your character, more's the pity.]
[ix: Football; CLOSED to Jonathan Kent]
[Bucky doesn't look like someone who's in the park to play a nice game of football... for one, he doesn't actually have a football. He's also skulking under the trees, wearing a long hoodie and gloves despite the warm weather, and is looking around at everyone entering the park as if they might be a threat to him.
But he said he wanted to do this, so he's here.
Even after he got the message from Clark that said he had somewhere else to be that morning, he was sorry, but hopefully Bucky could still have fun with Jonathan. Which was why Bucky was skulking out of place, waiting for a kid and hoping that said kid brought a football with him. Or they might be kind of scuppered.]

[ Tony reacts automatically, the suit closing in over his face just in case Bucky goes for his squishy bits. Though he aims for where the reactor is, the power source of the suit, but thankfully, with his newest upgrades, the metal is flexible and doesn't crack under the force of the blow.
Tony's ribs, however, aren't so lucky.]
Fuck, ow, that's gonna sting.
[ Trying to pull out of the range of the obviously startled Soldier without giving him the opportunity to flee is a lot more difficult that Tony would like.]
C'mon here, Bucky! I have fought you to the near death already I know I don't want to do it again. Sheesh. I'm not gonna fight you.
[ To prove his point he holds his hands out and open, as peaceful as you can get in a suit of armour.]
no subject
He doesn't run again yet, he's not likely to outpace the suit with his splint broken, so he ends up standing a few feet away panting and probably looking half like a feral dog that's been backed into a corner.]
We don't have to do this.
[As if he's not the one who went on the offensive.]
You can just walk away.
no subject
[ You know he had heard that you were a bit crazier than the Bucky that he was used to, but this is a hostility that Tony hasn't seen since the fiasco with the SRA and -- well, when he deserved it really. Tony watches Bucky for a moment, lets the faceplate flip back up to appear less threatening.
After a moment he makes the decision to take it a step further, having the suit seemingly vanish until he is standing there in jeans and a tshirt. Sure the suit is still on him, but he knows the advantage of appearance better than most.]
Bucky, uh, you know that I have no reason to fight you, right? Like, I don't know what the fuck the me has done in your universe, but, uh--- we're kind friends in mine?
[ Kinda being his way of saying they are totally friends but that might seems absurd to the soldier right now.
And seriously, Tony does not want to startle him into anything again. Fighting friends was something that Tony has had more than enough of as of late.]
And I could walk away, but that's one hell of a broken leg and one hell of a shitty splint. Can I at least help you by making a new one?
[ There is a pause, where he tries to hold Bucky's gaze, arms still up. ] Please?
no subject
Yeah, well I'm not the Barnes you know.
[Meaning they're not friends.
Not that Stark has done anything to him personally, he's never met the man, but he's an Avenger and that's all that he needs to know to be wary as hell of him.]
I don't need your help, I can handle this.
no subject
Bucky didn't fall into line without trial and error, and it seems like that is the stage this Bucky is at.]
Yeah, you're a bit too tall for that, though I am sure Bucky would love to have your height. You mind if I call you Bucky? Or would you prefer Banes?
[ It becomes pretty clear that Tony is more of a talk first, move to violence and shooting as an absolute last resort. Like maybe if Barnes here really tries to kill him. Even then though... Tony watches with sharp eyes as Barnes stays still, claims that he can handle this, and yeah maybe Tony snorts a little at that.
He knows what Bucky handling something looks like.]
You mean you are going to grin and bear it because you either feel too guilty to seek out help or have that self-worth thing about not deserving the help or, maybe, you still don't trust yourself.
[ There is a pause where Tony drops his hands. ]
You're not long free from the reds, are you.
[ It's not a question. ]
no subject
Reds?
[He repeats it and it's only half a question. Soviets. He means the Soviets.]
Few months.
[So no, not long free at all.]
But it doesn't matter, I said I can handle it and I can. And don't call me Barnes, or Bucky. Just stay away from me.
no subject
He makes a noise at the mention of a few months, a curse curling around his tongue. ]
Shit. Yeah, okay that-- that makes sense. Fuck, uh-- sorry doesn't cut it I am sure. But, um, I am sorry you ran into me? You would think the suit would warn me, but of course not.
[ There is a flicker of something at Barnes telling him not to call him any of those names. Wonders if he should just leave him here even if it makes him a little sick to think of it.]
Oh I don't doubt that you can't handle it, and I am being a little selfish in asking if I can make you a better splint. Not right now, I can make it and leave it here if you want. You can choose to come and grab it later, or not, I won't make you. But, uh, it is kind of my fault it's in such shit shape right now.
[ He tries not to think about how he broke his leg in the first place.]
no subject
From everything he knows about Stark, the man is a nightmare. Arrogant, standoffish, generally hard to be around, certainly not the sort of person to be actually concerned with an ex-assassin he doesn't even know has a broken splint. But the concern coming off him seems genuine. It's unnerving.
Maybe it's like the other him, similar but not the same as the Stark he's researched.]
Will you tell Steve?
[That sort of hinges his answer, he's not going to agree to it if being given a new splint also includes being ratted out to the person he's trying his utmost to avoid.]
no subject
The question about Steve, however, throws him and it shows. Tony just looks confused. Not upset or worried, but-- very very confused. Granted there was more than once in their history that the Bucky he knows has been less than forthcoming with Steve. It seems that they aren't on the best terms.
Tony raised an eyebrow and shook his head.]
Not if you don't want me to. I know he can be a bit... uh, much. Also, I have only met your Steve once. He seems very.... uh... shining? Does that make sense?
no subject
He thinks I'm someone that I'm not.
[Which is a no, he doesn't want Steve to know.]
no subject
Yeah, yeah I won't tell either of them. You gonna let me make you a splint then?
no subject
[No, that's too vague a question, but this whole situation is confusing as hell to him.]
I'm not the-- I'm not who you know, you don't owe me anything.
no subject
Tony shrugs.]
You're not the Bucky I know, and I don't expect you to be. But you are still someone who has been through hell and will probably continue going through hell for a while, so at least let me make the walk a little easier, yeah?
[ It is clear from his tone that he knows what it is like, dealing with who you were and making peace with that. ]
no subject
Okay.
[It sounds more like a threat than an agreement.]
But we do it now, and you don't leave my sight. No calls.
[He's not having the other Avengers show up and ambush him, he doesn't trust Stark to keep his word there.]
no subject
He snorts and raises a brow, because yeah he can totally make a splint out of the scraps laying around and the tools he has with him, but seriously?]
You know that I don't have functioning tracking devices in this universe yet, right? Like, if that is what you are worried about. Because as much as I can make a splint right now, and I will don't take this as me saying I won't, I would still like to be able to make you a less shoddy one eventually.
[ He pauses. ]
How long do you think it will take for the leg to be healed completely? Like, should I accommodate for the serum speeding things up a bit or--?
no subject
[Which is a yes on the serum speeding things along, without actually saying as much. He doesn't even give the rest of that the dignity of replying to it, because he sure as hell doesn't believe Stark when he says there's no functional tracking yet. The man is a genius, he built an arc reactor out of scraps while injured in a cave, he quite clearly can do wonders.]
I said now, and I won't need another one.
[Less shoddy or not, it's not worth the risk.]
no subject
Whatever.
Tony huffs out a laugh and looks back to where his tools are.]
Alright, now it is then, good to see you have indomitable will there, Barnes. [ He pauses, look flickering to the leg then back to the tools.] You gonna punch me if I offer to help you back over to my shit there, or nah?
no subject
[He knows how to walk on a broken leg, HYDRA made sure that their Asset could function and complete a mission in all circumstances, and a broken bone was hardly a good enough reason to stop.
He's got a limp, but he's still pretty fast when he heads towards the tools, expression set as if he doesn't even feel the pain.]
no subject
[ There is something fondly exasperated and worried in his features as Barnes hobbles back, Tony following with a decent amount of space between them.]
You want something with more maneuverability? Because, shitty supplies aside, I can probably give you that.
no subject
[He does want something with more manoeuvrability, but he's not willing to wait the extra time that it would probably take to make anything beyond the basic. It's a terrible waste of the Stark talent.]
I'm not hanging around longer than an hour.
no subject
He would turn it into a patented Steve Look of Disappointment if he thought the reason behind this choice was anything other than paranoia. No matter what universe he was from, Barnes was someone that Tony had respect for. ]
Okay, so whatever I can make in that time then. I can manage that.
no subject
[He's not much of one for conversation, so he shuts up there unless Tony pokes him some more. But he will follow Tony to a place where the splint can be made, and sit relatively patiently until it's done.
As long as it doesn't take more than an hour.]
