Open Log: Sixteen big boy, Full pint in my manhood
who: Jason Todd
what: Jason think's he's 15, and his own personal 16th birthday party...
when: August 12th - 19th
where: All around.
warnings: Nothing yet, will update
A: Floor Six
Waking up was pretty odd, nor Alfred shuffling him out of bed to get ready for school. Even odder was the fact he was asleep on a chair, in strange clothes with a bowie knife sitting next to him.
What the hell? Pushing himself up he felt the aches and pains he was not used to.
"Shit, no wonder they say not to do that. " He grumbled as he walked around the room... was he in another boys home? What the fuck Bruce? Maybe he got mad that he had run away but shouldn't he remember being moved? Seeing what looked like a bathroom he walked in. It was seeing the face that greeted him that shocked him.
He looked so much like his dad, his hair was a little longer than he likes...and he had stubble peppering his jaw. "Holy...." his words cut off in his throat as he started feeling his face. "Oh man this is awesome!" He practically shrieked. And people said puberty sucked. Logically he knew it didn't really work that way, but it was easier to accept that he had just woke up a foot and some change taller, with a deeper voice and a damn nice body. Which he was now seeing as he tugged his shirt up over his stomach.
Jason was known for hogging the hot water and the shower, but this morning he was just marveling in the mirror.
A long while later once he was back by the bed he had been told was his he looked over the books. That seemed right but the clothes in the drawers looked big enough for this body. Which confused him but he shifted through each item looking until he found. Opting for a pair of loose jeans, a belt and a black t-shirt and red hoodie, the bowie knife he had woken up with carefully slipped between his belt and pants, just in case. After grabbing the wallet on the bed side table and slipped it in his jeans. If it was his bed clearly that must be his… even if it wasn't he was taking it.
B: Wandering Around
After a few hours of wandering around, Jason could be found at the mall. Sipping from a slushie as he walked around, it was weird having this kind of freedom again. Sure he had run away days ago, but once he returned to the manor he knew that it was back to staying around Bruce and Alfred if he wasn't at school. He thought about calling Dick, but he didn't have the sheet of paper, he had already tried to call Alfred and Bruce and neither worked, so clearly he wouldn't be able to reach Dick either… but he was excited. He had a trip planned for when he returned home. To go find his mother. Things were looking bright from here on out for Jason Todd.
He was nervous thinking about how he would hunt down the three women in his father's address book but he would worry about that once he found a way home. Surely this was something that would work itself out. So instead he decided to be a normal teenager and walk around the mall window shopping. He didn't have Bruce's gold card on him, but apparently he had money. He had looked at the ID inside the wallet and saw his name and an age that didn't make sense, having turned the card around so he didn’t have to see it he figured better to just pretend. After all he couldn't be like the guy he talked to when he first woke.
After awhile of wandering around he sat on a bench and just quietly watched people. Making up stories about each of them for his own amusement. He was bored but it was better than going back to where he had woke up just yet.
C: The Rooftops after dark
It hadn't taken him long to realize there was no way he could have his magic of being Robin, not properly. He didn't have his costume and he's certain he wouldn't be able to fit it even if he did. So instead he improvised. The jeans from earlier and some stuff from the trunk by his bed which had a red domino mask in it, and a red cloak. He found a green shirt to not be to far from himself as he put the mask, the spirit glue and the cloak into a bag he found and headed out through the window when he figured no one would notice. Moving down a few floors before he finally jumped. The landing was a little rougher than he was used to but that was okay.
He slipped into an alleyway putting on the mask and the cloak. The bag hidden away as he moved to scale another building. It was night and what else did he have to do until someone brought him home? There could be crime to fight! He moved quickly across rooftops, eventually getting bored and sitting with his legs danging over the edge as he watched the life of the city below him, and the stars above.
Maybe it wasn't so bad here.
D: August 16th - Floor Six
Jason had been in then kitchen for awhile. The smell of something sweet was floating through the air. He had chocolate cake batter on his cheek and was cleaning up the mess he had made making the cake that was cooling on the counter. Eventually the cake was finished and iced with green icing. He didn't bother putting happy birthday on it, since it was his own cake and his own birthday. A plate was pulled down as he cut a piece bigger than Alfred would ever approve, and piled on ice cream. Grabbing a soda out of the fridge he walked over sitting the plate down on the floor as he turned on the TV and loaded up the game system he had been using for days to kill time. Since he wasn't in school and wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do beyond that he spent part of the night patrolling. Wearing the clothes he had found in the trunk… besides the red bat symbol. After he shocked himself the first time he just wore a green shirt and jeans with the red domino mask and red cloak he had found. Still, he had to much time on his hands.
So he was playing a lot of video games.
Looking down at his cake while he wanted for the game to load he didn't realize his eyes were getting misty. In that moment he really missed Alfred and Bruce. He had been here for days, and he worried he might never get home. By now he knew Dick was here, and two others who were connected to Bruce. He had a lot of feelings that he wasn't sure how to process. He was missing pages, a lot of pages. He reached up furiously scrubbing at his face as the game's cinematic started. There was no time to be sad, Alfred wouldn't approve of him crying like this. He'd spent most of his life alone, and he had Dick here…. He wasn't alone despite how he felt.
Feeling another wave coming on he grabbed the plate and started to eat, trying to distract the overbearing feelings instead of him with the sugar.

CW; mentions of child and marital abuse.
[ He didn't remember Yuffie's name. He shrugged then and kicked his legs out as he sat on the buildings edge like he used to when he was bored as a kid.] Robin, the boy wonder, sidekick of Batman. I help fight crime and save people. One day I will be the next Batman.
[ He knew he shouldn't have given up his identity, but it's not like Bruce was there...]
Broody? Oh god, I don't want to be broody, I've had some bad days but I know things will get better. That's why I do what I do. No one should live like I used to. [ He smiled a little a moment later.] I learned to cook and clean and stuff from my mom before she died, I used to help out so when my old man came home he wouldn't beat us.
[ He shrugged some since it was normal to him.] Stalking is part of the job sometimes, I'm sure I don't mind. Hey! Do I still watch the bad black and white horror movies late at night? I never could sleep right even before I took up the sidekick gig.
CW; mentions of child and marital abuse.
[Yuffie is a princess but she doesn't usually use the title because she considers herself so much more.
The more Jason talks the more Yuffie finds herself frowning. That really sucks...] It's good to help people but you should be happy too. I... [Yuffie exhales.] I have to live for my people. It's my job as a princess. I do it my way but everything I do is for them. It's my... fate, I guess. [She rolls her shoulders in a shrug.] I don't know.
My mom died when I was a kid. I don't remember her very much. After that dad was really strict. I have lessons a lot. I'd usually sneak out of them and we'd fight and train but it's different than just hitting. I mean... I got my ass kicked a lot but I always fought back. He was just preparing me to be a warrior. [It isn't like beating except that Yuffie's dad has broken more than one of her bones.] I wish I could remember her. [Yuffie mumbles before pushing that thought away.]
Ah, yeah. We usually watch them together because I can't sleep. I take cat naps and I wake up easily.

It's a name, but also an identity. A man alone can't fight crime, but an idea can. Batman, he uses fear to make Gotham better, and I help. I'm not even the first Robin, I'm the second, but the first Robin is his own person, he wont be Batman, when B dies, that will be me. I will everything to carry on the job.
[ Everything indeed, in a few days, he'd be a dead bird.]
I am happy, I mean, I'm not happy about what happened to my mom, or that B lied to me about my dad... but, I am happy and living like I never thought I could. I cant picture myself being any other way. [ Strong but kind, it came as a package with the boy wonders. Even in his worst moods, Jason could always spare a moment to be kind.
He reached an arm over and squeezed her shoulder.]
That's rough, I understand, I saw my mom....well my step mom die. [ He looked to the sky then.] I found out a few days ago... mom wasn't my mom. I have a mother out there to find when I get home. [ He looked to her with a bittersweet smile.] You should ask your dad about her, see if he can tell you stories, before you have no chance...

That's good. Being happy even when things suck. I'm 100% behind that. [It's kind of Yuffie's life motto.] I-
[She's surprised by the one armed hug and then about Jason's sentiment. In that situation... Yuffie probably wouldn't look for her real mom. She'd want to only have the mother who loved her and kept her... then her thoughts were pulled away from Jason's situation to her father. Her lips tug into a frown as she pulls her knees to her chest.]
I can't ask my father. He's... [How can she even begin to explain that rift between them?] He's a king and I'm just his unruly daughter. I'm pretty sure he'd rather have anyone else be heir to Wutai.

[ He smiled at her, with no idea just how much life was gettting ready to take a huge dump on him and ruin that positive attitude.
He squeezed her shoulder a little more offering her a sad smile.]
Maybe, but, maybe he doesnt see it that way? Like B cant be openly affectionate to me, I'm addopted, he's.... well the most important man in our city, I'm just a replacement, but I know he cares, I can talk to him if I want...
[ His own eyes starting to get misty as if realizing something he hadnt thought of.]
You should talk to your dad before it's to late... both of my parents are dead, I can never talk to them again... and if Im sad in the future... B's probably dead to...
[ He hated the idea of growing up alone... if he's sad what happened to his birth mother? What about Dick? ]

[Yuffie's philosophy is very much 'go with the flow'.]
As for my dad. It's fine. He knows what's up with me and I know what's up with him. We don't agree on a lot of points but we both have Wutai's best interest at heart. If he dies, I'll probably be fine with it, except that I'd have to return to Wutai to be the princess and couldn't continue what I'm doing now which is helping the whole world.
[She doesn't sound too concerned about it.]
My mom is dead. I wish I got to know her but there is no changing that now and no reason to be upset by it. I'm also pretty sure that boys and dads suck at showing they care. If you're adopted it just means he loves you more. He doesn't have to have you around but he choose to.
That makes you pretty lucky in my book.
[She might be rambling.]

[ he chuckled as he remembered it. What other person in Crime Alley would ever have the balls to do what he did? And to swing his tire iron at the big bad bat. Maybe he had a death wish a few years back.]
I'm training to be a detective, answering questions is what I do. And yeah, you and your dad sounds a lot like me and B. We used to get along super well but not so much anymore.
[ He looked at her shifting some. She seemed like one he could bounce the question off of.] What if you found out she was alive, you dont know her at all but shes alive and you could find her. Would you throw away everything for that chance?
[ something different sparkled in those blue eyes... hope.]
no subject
[It sounds like something that would happen in Midgar.]
Well my dad is... I don't know, he's my dad. I don't think there is any hope left for us and honestly, I'm perfectly okay with that. [She has no idea why she's talking to him about this. Hopefully this memory thing works both ways and he forgets.]
I don't know... probably not because she left me for a reason. If she wanted me then she'd be around.
[Yuffie might not be the best person to go to for home.]
It might be different with your mom. Maybe she didn't have a choice but I can't help but think.... she left me. She got sick. It wasn't anyone's fault but she left and then everything changed.
no subject
[ Sorry Yuffie he wouldn't forget, but he'd act like he had for her sake. He knows how hard those things are as an adult.
He moved his arm around her as a silent offer for support.]
Maybe your right. And I get that, my mom was real sick before she died. I did my best to take care of her, but she couldn't give the poison up. Everything changed when she died. The difference for me is, my moms sickness was drugs, and my dad was already in jail... probably already dead. So I cant offer much support besides knowing what its like to be alone.
[ Then he forced a smile.] But, why be sad? We should be happy, we are here and we can write our own lives!
no subject
Yeah, whatever. If it was me, well, I would have gotten away.
[She flashes him a devilish grin before shit got all serious again. Yuffie can't say that she hates feeling his arm around her. It's weirdly comforting and makes her think a little bit of Tifa comforting her in Vincent's body. Which is the strangest mental image that Yuffie has had all day.]
Yeah. I guess so. [She spends a lot of energy being optimistic but this is the first time someone had bothered to share that optimism with her. Now she sees why it's annoying.] You know what. Yeah. Let's go it. Write our lives and have them be awesome!
end?
[ He shrugged, but his older counterpart would disagree.
Jason shifted a bit reaching up to pull the hood back over his hair looking down at the city. He just smiled and nodded.]
That sounds good, lets do it!
