[ Cisco knows that he is probably opening himself up to a world of headaches and unnecessary trouble, but there have been plenty of new arrivals, and more and more he is noticing that people who show up from non-technologically advanced worlds simply have no support system to really teach them all the cool things they can do even with their phones, not to mention other machines and devices. So, one day when there's a lull between projects for the RPD and other emergency services, he goes to a print shop and has flyers made:
TECHNOLOGICAL CULTURE SHOCK??? NEED LESSONS ON HOW TO USE YOUR PHONE, LAPTOP, OR OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGET??? STOP BY THE ADDRESS BELOW FOR A FREE INFORMAL LESSON!!!
Normally it's the kind of announcement he would make over the network, but what if someone is really struggling and can't even get on there? No, flyers seem like the way to go for this crowd. Cisco adds some fine print at the bottom, below the address for his workshop, but all it says is:
*NO HIDDEN AGENDA JUST A HELPFUL DUDE WANTING TO SHARE THE WONDERS OF TECHNOLOGY, LESSONS ARE FREE BUT TRIBUTE PAID IN CANDY IS ALWAYS ACCEPTED]
ii. amnesia (august 12-19)
[ The changes in Cisco are not, at first, as obvious as they may be in other people. He remembers Riverview, and everyone he has met here, and all the details of his life in this place. He remembers his name, all the movies and video games that he loves, all the technical skills and scientific know-how necessary for his job. He even remembers most stuff about his own past - that he worked at S.T.A.R. Labs, that he's a member of Team Flash and friend to Barry Allen. That he is a metahuman, with various abilities tied to manipulating multidimensional energy.
The only thing that has been carved away from his memory is, in fact, Eobard Thawne. Cisco doesn't remember his mentor's betrayal, or being murdered, or the circumstances that surrounded him discovering his powers. All of the shame and dread he's been carrying about his powers, because of Eobard and the things he'd said and done, has just vanished. In addition, Cisco's trauma over that whole experience is, for the moment, covered over. To anyone who knows him even a little he will seem inexplicably younger. Quicker to smile and laugh, volumes more trusting, and also a lot more inclined to talk about some guy named Dr. Wells in a positive, even devoted manner.
Cisco will spend this week doing what he usually does - working at his workshop (still offering those lessons), trying out new restaurants, shopping for graphic tees and games and movies, exploring the safe parts of the city a little - but with an extra spring in his step. If you've wanted your character to find out about him being a metahuman, now would be a good time for it! ]
iii. post-amnesia (august 20-31)
[ The not-remembering? Had been good. But when that's done, and all of Cisco's memories are restored to him, the transition is... rough. Putting it mildly. Back when all of it had happened, there had been so much going on - one life-or-death situation after the other - that he hadn't had time to linger too much on how he was changing, being shaped into an older, sadder, more broken version of himself.
Now, though, there is no big crisis, no distraction to divert his attention. One minute he is the old, sunny Cisco - the one he still thinks of as the person he was supposed to be - and the next, it all comes rushing back. The contrast is stark, and it's kind of fucking him up a little. Or, rather, a lot.
He goes back to having nightmares almost as often as he did in those first weeks after his death, which means he isn't getting a whole lot of sleep, and it shows in the dark circles under his eyes. Cisco withdraws somewhat - not enough to worry that he's abandoning anyone, but he takes longer to answer texts, doesn't reach out to people first, doesn't go out and about in the evenings. He is quieter, with considerably more strain behind his smiles. He throws himself into his work, staying in his workshop long hours, sometimes falling asleep there, for a few fitful hours. When he can't work any more, he spends a little more time than he should in some nearby bars, drinking a little more than he ought to, trying not to think about the person he is now compared to the person he was the week before. ]

[ Come plot something! ]
<33
Oh, oh, and we can have some pretty damn fun fights... or I could be the villain and he my sidekick and we'll come to ruin the day! Then you could be the hero!
[She laughs and shakes her head a bit.]
...pretty sure the evil twin thing is more a doppelganger issue than your actual twin, but who knows?
[Not all twins were as close as her and Taako, after all. Lup can't quite imagine being her brother's enemy or the other way around.]
Luce might like it! Plus she could help writing the script, she's amazing at that stuff.
[Double-handed writing, her bff is cool ok.]

[ They talk excitedly as they pace around in the lobby, weaving between other movie-goers and stretching their legs. ]
Is it? I feel like doppelganger is a whole other category. [ And then, because he's feeling happy and chatty and good, and he doesn't see why it really matters keeping it a secret, Cisco leans in and whispers: ] I've actually got an evil doppelganger out there somewhere in the multiverse. Taako met him, too. We were messing around with magic and some shit went sideways. Definitely not fun action movie material though. He seemed, like, super evil. Also he maybe kinda hit on me? It was deeply weird.
[ But Cisco knows that if he threw on a lot of eyeliner and really overdid it with the leather and weird hairdos, he could make a half-decent villain. As for being a hero, well. He could manage it for a little indie movie he and his friends were making for fun. Even if he's not a real hero, where it counts. ]
Oh, yeah, just let her do that, and then you and I can come in and add some sick stunts. Rad it up a little.
no subject
[Plus she doesn't want there to be any Wonderland evil twin elf feels.
As they walk around a bit, she keeps mentioning little ideas until Cisco tells her about that doppleganger thing. It takes Lup a moment, but then she's laughing a little.]
Man, I wish I could have seen that. Magic here seems kind of fucked up to be messing with, though, so I'm not surprised there was a weird effect. Did you get rid of him?
[She really wants to know more about the planes here, but everything seemed a lot more static, aside from the Ethereal Plane. No wonder the more powerful spells like Dimension Door and Contact Other Plane sucked.]
I'll ask her about it! Then we can just fucking blow shit up and do some heroic fights. Make it really fucking amazing, people will be at the edge of their seats!
no subject
[ When Lup mentions magic being fucked up in this place, and then asks if they got rid of his doppelganger, Cisco considers. He'd half expected Lup to come back with something like oh, was that when you did that dream experiment, with my brother's magic and your powers? But apparently Taako hadn't mentioned their encounter with Reverb to her, or, in fact, any of the rest of it. Probably, Cisco thinks, because he'd been so desperate in his pleas with Taako to keep his powers a secret.
But that had been before Lup showed up, before Cisco had started to get to know her - even before he knew Taako all that well. It wasn't all that long ago, in days and weeks and months, but he realizes he's come a ways, since then. He's not happy with his powers, but he's no longer abjectly horrified at the thought of anyone knowing about them. Plus... this is Lup. She's not going to go around telling people, or treating him like a freak.
So Cisco deliberately directs their steps away from the other groups of people waiting for the next movie, to a quieter corner. He rubs at the back of his neck, words becoming more halting. ]
We got away from him, yeah. And, um, actually, the- the weirdness wasn't 'cause of the magic or this place it was... 'cause of me. Taako offered to use magic to try to help me figure out how to control, um, my powers. Which I have.
[ It is some relief, knowing that she comes from a world where there are seers and necromancers and druids all over the place, that Lup is a wizard herself and probably doesn't even realize (except through deduction, and the way he's talking about it) that anything about what he just said is a big deal. ]
Except I guess metahuman stuff and magic dooooon't mix well, so we just sort of got temporarily stuck in a part nightmare part vision trance or something and maybe sorta projected ourselves into another dimension for a bit.

That didn't mean he always told her other people's secrets, though - unless it was about her, or important to know if she was gonna hang around them.
This was a personal thing from a friend, and also a thing that wasn't 'important' to know to hang out with Cisco - so he he had kept it to himself. He'd probably tell her if she had asked, but hey. Here they were.
Lup follows him to the quieter corner, a brow raised in slight confusion - then Cisco lays it all on her, and her expression softens a little bit before she grins and punches him on the arm. (Just barely light enough to not hurt.)]
Shit, my dude! You have powers? And they sent you on some kind of dimensional trip when mixed with magic?
[She's excited, now.]
That sounds pretty fucking cool.
no subject
Yeah, uh, I do. Maybe don't go around telling anybody that, though.
[ He can't help another quick glance, even though there's no one near enough who could be hearing them, even if they wanted to listen in. But... old habits die hard, and Cisco is still adjusting to this whole telling-people-he's-a-meta thing. Lup looks so excited that he really doesn't want to rain on her parade, so Cisco is a little more generous than he might otherwise be, when he describes his powers. ]
I get visions. Sometimes when I'm asleep and sometimes when I'm awake. Of, like, the past, and the present, and sometimes the future, too, and other universes and timelines. There's other stuff I can do, in theory, but most of the time it... kinda sucks, actually. I still can't really control when it happens or what I see, so half the time I just end up reliving shitty things that happened to me or seeing stuff from other people's lives that I don't want to see and they don't want me to see and it's just a big old disaster.
[ Which is a nicer way of saying he has uncontrollable nightmare visions and hates them and if there were a button he could push to go back to being a regular human, he would hit it without a millisecond's hesitation. But that button doesn't exist. And it's never going to. DNA that has been changed can't be unchanged. How many times had he heard Caitlin telling Barry that, about other metas? Cisco is just... stuck like this. Forever. ]
I'm... working on being cool with it. Still a pretty new thing in my life.

Unlike a certain cleric, however, she can read the room - or in this case, movie hallway. her voice is a little softer when she replies.]
Cisco. Sweetcheeks. Buddy-boy. I know I might come off as a gossip gal, but I'm not in the business of betraying people's trust.
[Again, as long as it wasn't anything to do with her family or could affect it, there was no reason to share something that intimate.
Listening to him explaining his powers kind of makes her understand why it's a personal thing, too. It sounded a little like Divination, only more fucked up.]
That sounds tough. I'm glad Taako is trying to give you some pointers, at least? Even if it was a fucking disaster.
[Lup nudges him with an elbow.]
I'm guessing you've seen stuff about our reality?
no subject
Taako did his best. And I kinda got the hang of it, near the end. Got us out of there anyway. All he had to do was scare the living daylights outta me. But it helped me kind of get a feel for what I ought to be doing. So it wasn't a total waste.
[ Cisco says that last part with a very dry twist of humor in his voice; it's funny, in retrospect. It had been very extremely not funny, at the time. That fear spell was no fucking joke, but it had done what they needed it to do, and all was well that ended well.
He sways a little when she elbows him like that, smiling faintly. It is impossible to stay worried or gloomy, when he's talking with Lup. ]
Yeah. Like I said, I can't really control what I see... but chances are if I'm near somebody, it's gonna be about them. So I've seen the voidfish, and the Hunger attacking, and Magnus and Merle and Taako having adventures, and things like that. That's, um. Kind of how Taako and I first got to be friends. I mean, he's a friendly guy, but you know. He puts up walls.
[ It's odd, speaking about Taako like this. As close as they are, as friends, Cisco doesn't discuss him much with people, precisely because he knows how much Taako likes keeping any sign of vulnerability hidden away. ]
Before you got here... he still didn't know what had happened to you, and all that. I had a vision of his future - of him hearing your voice. So I told him, and he knew you weren't totally gone after all, and that... hit him pretty hard.
[ Taako had made Cisco swear not to tell anyone about that, under pain of death, but Cisco's pretty sure that Lup doesn't apply. ]
It was pretty weird, meeting you and already knowing what your voice sounded like. I probably shoulda mentioned that, sooner. Sorry.
no subject
Seen Taako after losing his memory.
Still, it's not as if she blames Cisco the slightest. Hell, it sounded like some really tough powers to have to deal with, and she bumps her hip to his.]
Wow.
[Real eloquent there, Lup.]
No wonder you guys are close. I mean, Taako has always been standoffish and stuff, but he's like a fucking fortress here.
[Despite the friends he has made. Fuck, he was even hard for her to get through, which was the first time for her in their long lives. Running off instead of coming to her first.]
...and don't you apologize for shit, my dude. It's fine. Means you know us pretty damn well, right? Plus... if it gave my brother some hope in this mess, I owe you.
no subject
[ Cisco says it with a sort of fond sadness; he knows why Taako is like that, and Cisco's dabbled in being a bit of a fortress, himself. At least in some ways - hesitant to trust, if not to care about people. There are some things between him and Taako that are polar opposite, but that paranoid instinct towards self-protection had been something Cisco could understand without needing an explanation. ]
I mean, I know about some stuff about you all, sure, but... I think I still prefer getting to know people the old fashioned way. Spying on other people's memories just makes me feel like a big damn creep. That's one of the reasons I'm learning how to use my powers - so I can at least decide whether or not I wanna get all up in someone else's private business.
[ When Lup says he might have given Taako some hope when he needed it, Cisco feels a warm, swelling sort of pride in his chest. At the time he'd just felt bad about making Taako cry, but now that Lup's here, now that things are different... he wonders if he had helped. And if he did... that's a good thing. Objectively good. Maybe if he could give people hope like that, his powers weren't all bad. ]
I really hope it did.
[ And the lights flash, then, indicating it's time to go in for the next movie. Cisco grins, says: ]
Temple of Doom time.
[ Then, partly because he doesn't want Lup worrying if it does come to it, and partly because he'd been open with her about his powers and it had gone so completely well, Cisco blurts: ]
So fair warning, I might ditch you for bits of this one. It's a long story but basically some of it's too gross for me so if I bail for a few minutes now and then, don't worry, it's all good and I'll be back.
no subject
[Lup gives him a little nudge as they start heading back into the cinema, just to empathize the point. Cisco had managed to push through to Taako in a whole new way, but was kind and sweet enough to make it work.
That's what friends were for.
Finding their seats, she hops down in hers and looks at her friend with a grin. She gives him a little snort as he tells her about having to bail now and then, and she ribs him good-naturedly about it.
In the end, she doesn't mind if he has to run of or not, though. Everyone had their own issues. Fuck, she had seen Bambi and now side-eyed venison.
All in all, it's a great movie night.
