001 - August Happenings! [OPEN]
who: Kate Fuller & OPEN
what: August Post
when: 1st - 15th
where: Library/Coffee Shop/Bar/Around
warnings: N/A
Library/Coffee Shop[Open]
Kate had taken Cisco's advice and started taking part time classes while in quarantine. She doesn't have a specific plan for the future but she's having fun and doing something with her time besides working. She's decided to take calculus, a mechanics course with a Lab component and anthropology. Being overly studious meant that she wanted to get ahead before her classes even started. She could be found at the library or at a coffee house taking up a table with notes, textbooks and random post-its.
She's wearing plaid with a tank-top underneath and a plan pair of jeans. She's mindful of those around her while also remaining focused on her task. Besides textbooks she has what looks like a safe lock at her table that she's occasionally fiddling with. In a strange way picking and resetting the tumblers in the lock helped her relax and focus.
There are things that she didn't want to forget and bit by bit she felt them slipping away; maybe she just didn't want a normal life anymore.
The Quarantine[Open]
Kate didn't know what kind of bar the Quarantine was going to be but it didn't really matter. Her goal was to visit Drew while he was working. She had managed to get a job as a waitress with a boss who was willing to train her as a bartender but she still wanted to do some research on her own.
She wasn't dressed to be at a bar, wearing a cardigan and a pair of jeans, but she was open to talking to those around her. There was a light orange drink in front of her that sat mostly untouched. She wanted to try it and learn what was inside of it but she could only taste the sugar on her tongue.
Kate's thoughts twisted and wandered, wondering if bartenders had to know about wine or beer or if it was just mixed drinks. She played with a small plastic sword that had been in her drink with a cherry before she ate it. She wasn't looking to get drunk but Kate really wasn't an expert drinker.

[ooc: Come at me. Kate can be found walking home late at night or around the shared housing or getting a feel for the city so feel free to run into her; literally or figuratively. You can also hit me up for plans.]

He held her hands to keep her balanced, not as stable now that the floor was sick but he didn't look ready to fall.

"So you know that." She teased a little bit. "So when you want to get better at those things. You know you can." Kate had faith in him.
"Thanks for holding me up." Kate laughed a little breathlessly as the wheels to her skate guided her forward. "Are you having fun?" She hoped so. It looked so much easier to him. Maybe she should find something harder next time… not that Kate expected there to be a next time but they could hang out and find things to do.

He had no faith in himself, he was mostly bravado. He would never admit that though. "No problem, I gotta use these arms for something right?" the smile eased back before he nodded. "Yeah, I am. Its kind of nice to just relax and have fun."

Kate looked up at him with a kind smile. "I won't push you or anything like that. This is a date. It's supposed to be fun right." She laughed while trying to stand up straight on her skates but only managed to fall back against Jason again. It was a good thing that he had more balance than her. "I learned some Spanish but that was because I've spent the last half year in Mexico." Not including a brief point in time where she managed to go home to Texas.
Crossing the board wasn't that hard with a passport and a cute smile.

"Yeah, and we are arent we" He wanted to be sure after all. Jason shifted to catch he, shifting one of his feet to break himself to catch her and help balance her again. "Immersion is the best way to learn. One of my dads old buddies taught me a bit of spanish to keep mom from getting ripped off. But the rest I learned after she died. Curiously what took you to mexico?"
Jay didn't have a legit passport, all of his papers are fake.

"My dad." It had been a lie but she wasn't sure how much of it interested Jason. "He had wanted to get away and took my brother and me out of school. That was months ago." It was almost a year ago now that a birthday had come and gone. "He quit his job too. There was a lot going on and I didn't learn about it until the trip." This wasn't exactly a date conversation. "And it wasn't much of a vacation. Have you ever been out of the country?"
He knew English so well that she just assumed that he was from somewhere in the United States.
